      @ShutThePuck Před 6 lety +48

Because in order to appreciate Curry's impact you need a higher level of understanding of the game. We've never seen a player like Steph before. It's not like other great players didn't have gravity, it's that nobody has had the kind of gravity Steph has coupled with his WILLINGNESS to play off ball.
If you imagine a dominant center, they have to gain post position. Sure they might draw a double team and be able to kick it out to an open teammate but the number of options this scenario creates is limited because of how static the player posting up must be and also the angles available to him. Curry can draw double teams 5ft beyond the 3point line with a simple PNR action, usually with Draymond. This creates way more opportunities than in the post-up scenario as Draymond has a clear path to the basket and can pass anywhere once Curry dumps it off to him.
Curry takes this to the next level by being incredibly active off ball, so his gravity isn't fixed to any 1 point, it's constantly moving, disrupting and disabling opponents defensive schemes as communication breaks down from multiple switches during 1 play due to just 1 player. Let alone having to worry about Klay and Durant.

Which is to be expected when up against the team with the freight train known as Lebron James. It'd be hard for anyone to beat that with no decent Center and the loss of a DPOY talent 4 spot

Klay is just fun to watch because he's like the new Dell Curry. That shot is iconic. Steph's is so quick you don't get to see it. When they want to, they're likely to have Klay at least an 82 point game to make a statement. Everyone has an easier game with Steph. However he's so nice I'd expect your 27 average prediction is purt near. It's splash brothers.

Actually, 2016 is still Steph's best year, shooting 30.1 ppg, 5.4 rpg 6.7 apg on 50/45/90 shooting splits. Literally better in every category. Still, his numbers are still ridiculously amazing.
Steph can average nearly the same numbers in his unanimous MVP season and he's barely in the MVP conversation. How ridiculous is that. And BTW, he's leading the league again in +/- (at +377, though Klay is just -2 behind him). He's almost +100 better than both Harden (+280) and Westbrook (+279). Lebron's +1 (lol). Oh, and Curry did it in just 35 games. Everyone else needed 40-45 games to get there. Give Steph another 10 games and he'll be close to +500.
What's true is that KD coming to the Warriors diminishes Steph's chances to claim another MVP title. Steph would easily be front runner this year with his numbers without KD. Westbrook can win MVP with just 47 wins. At this point, if the Warriors don't win at least 65 every year, Steph's not winning MVP.

He the league in scoring (30ppg) whilst shooting 50 - 45 - 90, not to mention no other player has done this. Led the league in PER and Win Shares, led the league in steals, drained 402 3s (even if other players attempted 800 3s they would at most make 300), made 7 half court shots in that season (not luck if you make that many

My only problem with KD going to the Warriors is exactly what they said: We've been robbed of seeing Steph Curry excel on a nightly basis. A lot of the time, he has to defer to KD to get him his shots and points while Curry just quietly gets his 20-25. He isn't able to just explode like he was able to do in 2015. You can't do that when you have another top 3 player on your team. Imagine Curry having his 2015 MVP season for 3 or 4 straight years. What could have been.

Even still, it took an heroic effort by LeBron over the series and then a few clutch shots by Kyrie at the end of the game 7 to even beat the Warriors. Injuries is why Warriors needed another mvp.I think Kerr fears injuries more than anything especially after it cost him a championship. If its just steph and klay running offense and steph goes down for long periods of time well its a wrap for the team.
Also KD also insures that the team can win during a bad shooting night. Very low chance that steph, Kd and klay all shoot bad at the same time. Basically all the players are important, any argument saying otherwise is foolish.

He was off the ball half the time, Curry is off the ball alot of the time. Watch Magic Johnson and Johns Stockton play . They are always the point.

I agree George Shehata. I think Steph is thinking long term - how to maintain his career. He and the GSW are playing a comfortable game of basketball without too much risk of injury and whatnot - not too much hard contact when driving to the basket, no crazy physical contests for the ball - just good vision, good passes, good shooting, good teamplay, smart plays. As long as it's just enough to win, it's good. Sometimes I ask myself during a game when GSW lead by like 15 points and they are demonstrably the more active team on the court, why they don't push their points even further. They could, but they don't. This happens in a lot of games. I think it's long term thinking. Steph is 29. He has another decade to go in the NBA. Why should he or KD go all out in every single game they play. It's just dangerous. As I said, as long as they score just enough to win, it's good. A win is a win. After that it's all about having a long career, staying healthy, spending time with your family, etc.

    1. Curry - the greatest offensive player in the last 30 years, maybe even better than MJ, Shaq, and Chamberlain due to individual + team impact w/ spacing
    2. Klay - one of the best two-way player in the game... can go off w/ 37 in a quarter or 60 in three quarters
    3. Green - the best defensive player; some would argue Kawhi but Draymond has so many different utilities on the Warriors that requires a very high bbiq
    4. Durant - a 7 foot cheat code that plays the guard position, basically unstoppable scorer and best player in isolation
    Yup this team is stacked

That leads to a small mismatch as Klay is taller than most elite point guards and 2. You ever asked yourself why Klay even guards them?? Oh yeah because curry is a liability defensively one on one. Even the 2016 finals prove it, the cavs wanted Curry to be switched onto Kyrie game 7.

How was Cleveland not capable of beating Golden State when they had already beat them? Injuries are a part of the NBA, it's just a fact. Cleveland benefited from a season ending injury to Bogut and Curry being banged up but Golden State also benefited from Cleveland losing both Kyrie & Love in the 2015 finals. In the 2017 finals, when Lebron was on the floor, the Cavs played the GS nearly even . So saying they wouldn't be capable of beating GS w/o KD is laughable because they literally did.

Steph could easily score 50+ pts a game but the Warriors don't ball hog so the "pts averaging a game" is a silly argument. We never needed KD, our entire "unkown" team could actually play. Remember, Steph is the leader of the GSW, not KD
