    Chase, you need to do a long haul journey, like 300-500miles! Take someone with you, with two bikes; the tracer and a sportier bike, compare the comfort, practicality etc. Make it a weekend ride. You could include carrying camping equipment and going off-road to find your camping spot in the mountains.

    Rode three years on the father (FJ-09) and enjoyed every minute with this CP3 motorization! This Tracer, as an evolution, should be an even better horse. Now riding an XT-1200 es, as I wanted to get dirtier. I’ve got plenty and ready for so much more! Yamaha delivers.

    I bought my 2016 FJ-09 because of your first ride video (among other things). I have never ridden an FZ09. My only complaint about the Tracer is that is limited to 115mph and since everyone I used to ride with had rockets, I was always 5min late. Having that said, I LOVED IT! I am so stoked right now. I had a 2020 MT 09 last year and had the '21 SP on order. It had delay after delay, finally after 6 months dealer told me it wasn't showing up,(June of last year) I couldn't wait anymore and traded the MT for a BMW F900R.. don't get me wrong it's a nice bike, but that engine was lacking compared to the sweetness of the CP3. Last night I found a 2022 SP 2 hours from my home for MSRP., deposit made, Bye bye BMW, going to pick up that beautiful 2022 SP tomorrow morning!

    I have a 2017 FJ-09 and I've done lots of 600+ mile days (I've even had a 1,000 mile day), so to me the obvious content request is how does it do with BIG miles. I'm not saying you need to go that far in a day, I know touring isn't you thong, but maybe do 300 miles and an overnighter. Chase camping!?!?

    When i went shopping for my first new bike I wanted an MT-09SP, but the sales guy said it was to much bike for me. So he sold me the Tracer 9 GT because it had the heart of the MT-09 but more utility that I wanted.

      MT-09SP too much bike? No, sure with previous MT09's or FZ's that has no electronics. I just upgraded from a clapped out 250 1 cylinder banger to the MT09 SP and it's a very civilized bike and quite safe with the electronics. Crank open that throttle and you better be hanging on but once again electronic modes to tame it as much as you want.

    I have the Tracer9gt and while I do like it I am bummed it has to weigh 70 pounnds more than the base mt09 (if the specs I saw are accurate) okay some of that is extra fuel but still seriously? 417 vs 485 and that is without sidecases btw lest you thought that explained some of it....I mean I get the fairing pieces and windscreen add to weight but that cant be huge right? My guess is a lot is in the beefed up subframe optimized for two up touring ...which I dont do so that annoys me to carry around who knows how much extra weight I dont want at all...,,,what would the 9gt weigh if it had the MT09 subframe??. OR alternately? What IF you transplanted the tank and fairing type pieces from the Trace to the MT09? Buy a rear ended or side crunched Tracer cheap for donor parts (cause there is NO WAY it would be at all affordable to source all those peices from Yamaha parts counter no way Jose!

    • @dougiequick1
      @dougiequick1 Před 2 lety

      Alternatedly damn I wish an aftermarket company would make a decent fairing windscreen kit for the MT09 but I find nothing but little accent screens available which surprises me as the MT09 is so much cheaper that IF there were a good aftermarket option I think a bunch of folks would elect to go that route rather than shelling out 15500 to 18k out the door for a T9gt...I had to shop like mad just to find one in southern california for "only" $16,200 out the door (choked on that deal but had no choice as there were none used available anywhere near me) ...Sure it is a fun pig but a pig it is none the less....not as porky though as a Ninja 1000sx or Kawi Versys 1000 or even Suzuki GSX1000 but still pretty porky

    I will probably sell my 21 MT09 for a Tracer 9 eventually, I just can’t stomach the extra $5000 USD yet.

    • @CPLBSS88
      @CPLBSS88 Před 10 měsíci

      Yeah thats a BIG downside that im shocked they didnt mention... that extra 5k will practically get you into a second bike, be it a super moto or lazy boy on two wheels. I have a heavily modified 2020 GooGT and it is pretty well rounded single bike... BUT its not perfect. After only 2500 miles I'm thinking i'm gonna sell it and by a fun hooligan bike and a cheap cruiser for probably the same overall spend.

      @@CPLBSS88 ended up test riding a Tracer 9. Horrible seat, horrible cruise control, horrible windscreen, ended up just splurging and getting a Multistrada V4S which was nearly perfect off the showroom floor (except the fact it gets horrible gas mileage but well worth it!)

    Challenge for the GT and the rider, how far does it real world get on a tank? Highway will do. Maybe a hundred mile away burger. Can it get its rider there and back on one tank without physically destroying them?

    As a 2020 Tracer 900GT owner, and someone who has spent some time on the machine, the little extra weight became moot after I fixed the suspension. The bike is a weapon in the twisties, really surprised me actually.
