    im a huge sound devices fan but that bit about the frequency scanner automatically tuning the receivers as well as the transmitters is seriously impressive

    Wow - really nice coverage. Thanks Peter for bringing Glenn on for the overview of Nova. Seems like an incredibly well thought-through recorder.

    I mean nova's cool and all, but Glenn's shirt has taken the cake.

    Can I listen to a camera return with a single button press? And get back to the previous audio with another single button press?
    If I press a function button like F9, what happens when I press F9 again? Does the menu return to where it was or do I have to press Back? The fewer finger movements the better when I’m bagging and booming.
    Are those five encoders slightly damped in rotational movement? Do they feel smooth yet slightly loaded like Sound Devices 6 Series faders or do they feel completely unloaded like a typical encoder? Is the shaft bearing tight with little run out or a little bit loose and slightly wiggly? Strangely, these fader feel characteristics are important to me.

    I own a Maxx and have been very happy with that. Now Nova is amazing and definitely a new standard. Gratulations! Would have loved to hear some detail about new automix and surround capabilities.

    I’m all Sound Devices and Lectro, and looking at a 833 to replace my 633... BUT THIS NOVA IS KILLING ME 😀.

    What's the plan to mount it in a bag? All I see is a box (a very cool box), basically, with no mounting points.

    I doubt Zaxcom's patent NeverClip is fake. I heard clipping all the time.

    @34:32 my mind was blown by the statement of Mr. Sanders abt zaxnet's capability. I am a rookie production mixer. But if I ever get enough Capital, I will invest in zaxcom ecosystem for sure.

    My favorite company now for mixer recorders is Zaxcom and favrte device is Nova. Zaxnet way cooler than anything else. Wow 🤯

    9:46 - What's that black circle on the back of the ERX?

    • @haoranli8600
      @haoranli8600 Před 4 lety +1

      It's a magnet circle for display purposes. So this ERX can be attached on the magnet holder.

    This would be a game changer if it had 32-bit float recording - IMO

    • @RallenMan
      @RallenMan Před 4 lety +2

      Ajushi Photography Well, it has full blown 24 bit recording (NeverClip) with 140 dB dynamic range which is the same dynamic range as is had in recent 32 bit floating point file system recorders from other companies. So your wish is granted, are you now going to buy a Nova?

      @@RallenMan 32bit float supports a theoretical ~1680db

    • @RallenMan
      @RallenMan Před 4 lety +3

      Alan Calvitti Yes 32 bit floating point file structure uses standard scientific notation which has massive mathematical dynamic range needed to handle the kind of data used in science and engineering. And it makes a convenient wrapper for high dynamic range audio recordings. But the preamps and ADC chips and circuits used in Zaxcom gear (and other recent entries) can only produce audio signals of 140-144 dB dynamics. I say only but that is a huge audio signal range, however it is not 32 bit dB range and never will be.

    Sounds like a great new product!
    I’m wondering why Peter thanked the crew at the end. If there were a crew, it obviously was minus a Sound person.
    How in the Hell do you invite Glen on to talk about such an innovative piece of gear and have distorted audio all over the place?
    Very disappointing on so many levels for so many audio professionals sitting at home.
    ..........AND DRESS YOUR MICS ALREADY!!!!🙄

    I stopped at about 4 mins when he mentions about hot swapping receivers and the horrible scraping noise it made when he re inserted it. It looked quite scuffed as well. Nice idea to build things in, but I prefer SD's way of thinking. Battery management is far more important for a bagged recorder, and you can set up YOUR brand of radio's any way you like.

    • @justlooking813
      @justlooking813 Před 4 lety +5

      Wow, nevermind the amazing features, the sound it makes when I touch it is unpleasant.
      Later in the video, Glenn says that any brand of wireless can be integrated into this system with an adapter, and will benefit from the Micplexer front end filter.
