Very interesting....one of the problems with asplenia is that it is often undiagnosed...I didn’t find out that I had no spleen until I was in my 50s (ultrasound) I had been regularly sick with various infections during cold and flu season as a young child

A doctor luckily found out that I didn't have a spleen 2 weeks after I was born as I was born 3 months early and needed a scan

My condition was discovered at age 22, after my first (not last) bought of sepsis. I have a spleen, but it's tiny (only 2cm long) and non-functioning. I have no other medical abnormalities and neither of my parents have this condition. I hadn't had any serious bacterial infections before age 22 that made anyone suspect that I had a condition. I've been looking, but find it very difficult to find mention of anyone else with my condition!
