Spleen is an organ which is situate don the left upper part of our abdomen, just beneath our rib cage, the main function of Spleen is it is an organ of our immunity second it is an organ that gets purified, these are the major functions of spleen. Why does the Spleen gets enlarged? The Spleen gets enlarged is because of infections like malaria, tuberculosis, typhoid, infection site, one common cause for enlargement of Spleen. Second is if there is any problem in the blood, like if the blood, basically if blood purification happen in the e Spleen and if there is any prenenm which reduces the lifespan of our blood cells, that will enlarge our Spleen, we call it as Hemolytic anemia. Number three, the Spleen will get enlarged if there is any problem in the liver we e call it as portal hypertension, or liver damage, the all the blood circulation from the liver is going to the Spleen and then Spleen will enlarge. Number 4 is tumors basically there is an entity called as lymphomas where the Spleen gets enlarged and hematological tumors, will have Spleen enlargement, these are the common reason for Spleen enlargement.

#5. Torsion of spleen...mine was twisted 3 times. Blood going in but not coming out so it was enlarged about the size of a nerf football and turning into poison due to lack of oxygen. I had to have emergency surgery to remove it. Dr. Konald Prem wrote about it in the AMA Journal circa 1990.
