6 yr/70 mil was not enough. They needed to MAKE it about money even though it wasn't about money for Hurley. They needed to make it really, really hard, if not impossible, for him to turn down the job, and they failed...miserably. I'm extremely disappointed in this Lakers front office.

Hurley played the Lakers, I believe Woj was in on it! Hurley was offered a contract from U Conn in April and Hurley didn't sign it, Now after the reports that the Lakers offered him a massive contract he decides to go back to U Conn. Hurley was never going to coach the Lakers he just used them to create leverage! Too bad there is no recourse for getting played like that!

About JJ Reddick: he insulted AD by placing him on the third team All Defensive Squad. Also, there was some feedback that JJ was condescending on talking to players.
It's going to be hard for whomever will be our HC. You'll be forced to coach an aging superstar that plays laxadazile defense that will cripple us financially with a max contract extension to make him happy. Will also be forced to play Bronny that isn't NBA ready. This combination will cause havoc on and off the court. As a coach, I wouldn't handle the headaches. As a player, I wouldn't want to be on the team.

I don't think Hurley would've been a good fit for the Lakers anyway, so giving him a big long-term contract would've been the real disaster. The bad thing is now JJ Redick may feel rejected and not want to take the job.
Even if it didn't come down to the money, I feel like the frustration from fans is that it feels like the Lakers didn't go all in for it. I know the AAV is about the same at 6/70 as it is 8/100 but they should have given him a crazy offer like was being reported just so the fans can't come out and say they were cheap.

Don't even know why folks are mad they couldn't sign Dan. Most of the fans who are keep crying foul didn't even know who Dan was before this whole thing lol.
