- During our last trip to Brazil we spent a day with a local organization 'Favela Radical' just surfing and playing soccer with a group of kids that had come down from hours away. Seeing how much they appreciated surfing, and how stoked they were just to be in the water was pretty incredible. You could see how much it meant to them just to have the opportunity to spend a full day outside enjoying themselves and learning something new. The organization has such a good thing going, and it was pretty awesome to see first hand how Machu Picchu supports what's they do. We left with a lot of perspective. It was a good reminder of how lucky we are to do what we do as surfers. Thank you to Bernardo Paiva and Jeff Quirino for hosting.

I love these beautiful video of kids learning to surf not just in Brazil but, all around the world. 💙
You never know how you postively impact a kid with a kind word, a "you can do it" or teaching them how to surf. Or what positive direction you turn their heads to. But, you DO change their life for the better with a simple act of kindness. I hope these kids all go on to surf their whole life!! The ocean is a blessing & keeps you calm in this crazy world. 🏄♂🌊🇧🇷

Rio’s favelas are a huge problem, nasty place, everything wrong! And yet people love to promote them. No wonder Rio has now four favelas for each neighborhood. In stead of solving the problem, let’s increase it! Dumb humans….
