HOW I MIRROR FINISH A BAR
I start with an 80 grit flap disc on my angle grinder then I use my drill with 50 mm round sanding discs . I start with 150 grit then go through the following Grits 240-400-800 Then once I get to the following Grits I use a small squirt of WD-40 1200-1500-2000-2500-3000. The WD40 helps to lubricate the discs and stops the sanding disk binding up with the metal powder . Then after that I use my buffer wheel on my bench grinder to get a perfect mirrored finish on it.

Huge 11KG Copper Bar From Scrap Spa Pump - Trash To Treasure ASMR Metal Melting - BigStackD Casting - ZĂĄbava
The end of the year so I thought I do my biggest bar and my longest video , so sit back enjoy and I hope to see you all next year. Stay safe over the new year breakđđ»đ
Edit: I accidentally left out the value of the bar while editing so I will definitely add that in to next Fridayâs videođđ»
I have a neighbor who is a pool/spa contractor, and I've received two defunct pool heaters from him very similar to what you tore down in this video. Sadly, I'm not yet ready to smelt, so I simply turned the innards in for scrap, for lack of storage space. The brass and copper that come out of those heaters is incredible! Plus, one of the old heaters contained kaowool (too decrepit to salvage) and the other had solid slabs of refractory brick (that I saved for my eventual smelting).
Can we see your face in the new year please??? â€
Yes, take a brake from melting stuff! LOL!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
So exciting!!!! Thanks for the hard work this year! Cheers to 2023!
@@dianahawkins5292 Yes!
I dare you to go to your local junkyard, buy a car for as cheap as possible *- And melt it all !!* (Except the tires, of course) LOL! I'm serious! Consider it a challenge. Anyone else want to see that?? It would be quite interesting and informative!
Ballpark guess; how much of each smeltable metal would you think one could get from an average junkyard car?
About 200lbs of aluminum 35lbs of copper 25lbd of lead the rest would be steel iron and plastic
YES!!!
@@bigbluepacific3950 That's what I'd like to find out. Also, it would be informative as to what the makeup of an average car is. Aluminum would be a large amount, since modern cars use a lot of it in the body, engine, wheels, and other assorted parts. The subframe and suspension would be mostly steel, including the transmission because the gearbox uses hardened steel gears and components to withstand the wear and tear of daily driving and the force applied by the engine. There is some glass and a lot of plastic parts from the interior and trim. It also depends on the model year of the car. Much older, pre-1980 cars consisted of more steel because the bodies were generally not aluminum like today's cars that use more aluminum for the purpose of saving weight and gas mileage.
Upvote this please
Love what you do stackD, I have a suggestion for a video. Take a old crucible that you are ready to retire and fill it with molten copper right to the rim, then let it freeze in the crucible. Once hard break the crucible to unveil a solid copper crucible that you can then polish and engrave with your logo. Would look pretty sick in your new treasure room. Keep doing what your doing man also give Bullion and Ingot a pet from us.
First time watching. Fascinating. THEN the finale, your treasure room. Blown away. Subscribed.

The Pringles can got me good. I was like... "What? He's doing a normal snack?" Nope.
That was a big bar of copper!
925KGS down, 75KGS to go!!! We are almost there, people!
And love the hugest Copper Bar there. Nicely done. đđđ

As someone who is a technician in the pool business, I always wanted to see all the copper from those heaters melted down in to a single bar. Awesome video!!
I love watching people take stuff apart

Watch, in the next fan mail pickup will be like 5 safety torq kits, probably in metric and SAE. * LOL! *
But I agree, safety torq is the dumbest thing on the planet. Probably invented by a manufacture who didn't want people to get into their product to * gasp! * repair it when they could buy a new one instead.
Reminded me of Kip Raines 'tool' for getting into the Porche dealership đđ€Łđ

well yes they are stupid but they do have a purpose, I use to install the wood slates on like park benches, you would be surprised how many people want the wood hahaha so Safety screws worked the best. It got so bad we used plastic 2 x 4's
Thank you, sir, for all you do for us, each and every week. It is never unnoticed or unappreciated. Happy new year!
Your grammar is off.
Sir. Is for male genders
Ma'am is female genders
Ms., Mss, Mrs, is all females.
Single, married, widowed.
Mr and Sir males.
For God sakes, don't become like western civilization where you don't know the difference between a male and a female.

Everything going electric I reckon he would get a lot out of them
I started scrapping like this years ago in my free time. It got to the point where my favorite part was just taking apart machines to see what they are made of. Almost therapeutic. You learn a lot and you can turn a pile of crap destined for the landfill into cash (or bars). It's amazing what people just toss in a dumpster.
Same here. Way too old to learn smelting now, but love watching this guy.
"It's fine. I have a tool for this." BANG!
THAT is one hell of a Copper Bar and i still love the color of Copper a LOT ^^
Also .... since you moved to you new Place you got so many many cool animals around it is really a joy for me seeing them doing there thing while you melt, smelt and cast all manners of cool bars and things :)
Many thanks from a guy in Germany to you ;)
And a happy new year!
One of my biggest take aways from watching your channel is how to take things apart.
Man, watching this, I think back to 8 or 9 years ago, when I used to scrap 60-100 hot water tanks every two weeks for an HVAC company. I recovered the non-ferrous metals for the extra value, and generally had two five-gallon buckets of brass T's, elbows, and pressure-relief valves - 50-70 pounds - along with 40-60 pounds of copper pipe. Every two weeks. And then there were the A/C cores. If I'd been watching this channel then, I don't think I'd've been able to resist the temptation to become a melter!
So satisfying and theraputic. One of the few channels where I can watch a 45 min video with 0 narration all the way through.
đsup
as someone that likes to take stuff apart/fix things, i appreciate seeing the inside of electrical components that u take apart đ„°đ„đ
I appreciate very much the content that you put out. I don't fully understand the amount of work that must go in to filming and editing your videos. Here's a very small token of my appreciation for your efforts.
-Charlie from Oklahoma, USA
no worries at all Charlie cheers for the donation I really appreciate it mate. Yes the editing is the hardest part of the videos and the most time-consuming but all the editing gets done on the lounge with the two boys next to me so itâs not all bad. Have a great New Yearâs mate and talk with you soonđđ»đ
@@bigstackD Happy 2023 to you!
Ay im in oklahoma too
Haha Okie
Being an electronics hobbyist for decades, it's always said to see potential space parts discarded so easily. Sure, they would have ended up in a landfill otherwise, but it's still sad to see. That LCD display alone would have been fun to turn into something. Nevertheless, I am not complaining. This process is still fun to watch.
I'm sure you knew this, but a lot of old electronics (1970s and earlier) contain a lot of gold, especially the chips (gold pins). I'd collect the chips due to their rarity though. I guess you would have to have a lot of them to get a decent amount of gold out of them.
A sub sandwich inside a sealed Pringles can truly shows you love your craft. Thanks for sharing!
What a way to finish the year, with a 11kg copper bar and all the smelting which goes with it.
I look forward to all the destruction and smelting in the next year.
Technically smelting is melting raw ore and what bigstack is doing is remelting

I havenât even had a chance to watch it yet, but I had to comment that seeing a video from you, thatâs 42 minutes long, makes me so happy! I appreciate you, I appreciate what you do, and I hope you have a happy new year!
if it had been 42 minutes of struggling, aggravated, angry, constipation? Would that result in a nostalgia for the shorter videos? ;-) just phucking with You, meant nothing for it. Have a healthy, safe, happy Weekend!!

Green fire is the coolest color of fire ever! That's my favorite color of fire, and my favorite element is, in fact, fire!
I've seen of some computer screwdriver kits that can counter those stupid star screws and then some. Also, I've seen it several times already but I have to say it now: What jerk(s) demanded a "dog timer"?! The puppers are part of the whole BigStack experience!
I canât believe all the stuff smelted and turned into bars from this channel from the year.
It is a treat to see different items being disassembled. Their different structures are intriguing.
Love the rural setting - the freedom to do what you like and as loud as you like!
Nice silver contacts in that jar. It will take a bit of chemistry to extract pure but even impure the silver content would make a cool ingot. I have seen people remove the contacts from the plates with just a bit of torch heat on breaker contacts. Maybe that is a good place to start. About the heater, so much copper! I never would have guessed. Great vid!
I was looking for a comment just like this :)
extracting silver and gold can be done from contacts and (in some cases) circuit boards, but it does require a little bit of specialist knowledge
@@deminumenera1758 yeah, (imo) either bust out the chemistry set, colab with Sreetips or just make a contact coin. junk silver coin currency is typically 90% anyway so a contact coin would be pretty cool.
Circuit Breakers Loaded With Silver!
Golden Paydirt Reviews
@@leadbadger9543 I was going to mention Sreetips as well.
To extract the silver, I would recommend dissolving in nitric and cementing out on copper. The resulting silver cement can be melted to (impure) ingots or to shot for an electrolytic silver cell (see Sreetips). After the silver has been extracted, the dissolved copper can be cemented out on iron/steel.
@@apveening yeah, some hard core chemistry. But I come here for the melty goodness and I go to Sreetips for my BreakingBad metal recovery. And the logistics kinda suck to ship a box of scrap half way around the world. I look forward to seeing them get resolved or dissolved in a future vid either way. Cheers, and happy new year everyone!
Now THIS was an impressive melt! MOAR BIG BLOCKS, PLEASE!
Also, when's the last time you were tested for heavy metal poisoning? Given how often you're around that stuff, might be a good idea to check . . .
Safety screws are the biggest enemy of the scrapping world! đ

I love that you added in the ice melting on the hot metal and you petting your dogs
Some of the best video editing I've seen on CZcams. Seriously.
Cheers mate appreciate it! The editing is obviously the most time-consuming part and can take me upwards of three days but I do get to sit with me 2 dogs so I love itđđ»
BigZarD makes an appearance! A fine scaley toe biter! A fine 11kg bar too! That thing would be the perfect throwing brick! I bet it'd smash some ice too!
One of my favorite vids of yours. I love seeing both the breakdown of materials and the melting. I also enjoy seeing the boys, the birds, and the food hunt. Not of fan of lizards (in the shop) nor clowns, but I know some are. I look forward to a great 2023!
The Frenchies and the sprinkler was amazing. Thank you.
I hate those screws too. They're called security screws, safety screws or tamper proof screws. It's dumb because you can just buy the drill bits for them at any hardware store. But I guess not everyone has them in their tool box so I guess they serve their purpose... They're usually used in commercial things that are in public settings. Like bathroom stall panels or things hanging on walls.
It's for the gas valve and igniter. 7:42 I guess they don't want people screwing with it.
Really cool finish to this year. Thank You. Happy New Year
That was an awesome melt my guy! I never noticed the Vanoss Emblem you made! I hope 2023 is a good year for melting
20:28 your dogs become best part of your vids. Your other stuff is great and all but those dogs are the real stars

Mate you said you were going to fix it for me? đ Happy New Year to you and the boys!
I like how this man acts like torx security sockets are expensive lol
tamper proof torx at that!!! less than $40 au for a semi decent set!!!
Here's some wisdom I picked up over helping my grandfather clean a barn full of car parts. If you have no intentions keeping lock screws take a flat head and snap the lock out after words you can use the same flat head or a star bit and unscrew it like a normal screw.
Cheers bro what a great video. I couldn't stop watching.
All things considered his friend who scraps all his left over steel is pretty lucky - getting previously disassembled scrap probably saves him a lot of time ⊠depending on the size of his forge a lot of it could just be ready for melt
Those weird screws are tamper proof screws. Or Iâve heard them called security screws. I have a few sets of bits for them. In a pinch I have knocked the center piece out and used a regular torx bit.
Those are NOT stardard security torx bits :) you can see that those screws are like 5 point star, torx screws are 6 point.
@@PaoloMarcelli Good point-i hadn't noticed. I guess they're even more taper proof?
They might still be torx actually. Pentalobed tamper proof torx are (where?) a thing lol.

Where's the link to the steam explosion video? I don't see one for it in the description unless it's part of one of the other videos you have linked.
what happens when you get to the target?
He'll reset the target to 10 ton ;)
I work as an HVAC technician. The gas valve star screws are tamper proof screws. There was a time we could fix the small components in gas valves....but now they are considered throw aways. We junk the old parts when it fails. Lots of opportunities for getting parts to melt with HVAC junk.
That is an epic treasure room. Just the room itself, well done. And so many nice bars.
Though I suppose many have asked, I've never known the answer. Target is 1 ton. What happens at 1 ton? Will you make 1 giant ingot? đ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł

for that screw that looks strange there is a simple way to unscrew it
