I used to know the person who created Downtown, as he made it specifically for a server I was part of. I haven't touched GMod in years but it's cool to see how much that map became a 'standard' of the RP scene. This was a nice video, definitely took me back and brought up a lot of fond memories of my time spent back then - thanks a lot. Great commentary and well structured.
Thank you my friend, appreciate your sentiment. That's an interesting story, I remember the old Gmod community was somewhat more tightknit, even as a kid when I played it, its so nostalgic. I hope the creator is still alive and well and that the rumours are not true, but his legacy lives on with the map, it's incredible.
I use to play LightRP back in the day and it was really fucking fun. I miss it. And I miss old dark rp also, The old maps and the good old map locations that everyone knew. (I remember a time where I met one of my best friends on DarkRp, because I was getting raided and he randomly decided to help me and I was able not to lose all my money)
Haha so many friendships forged on there brother. I remember playing Oviscity rp either on LightRp or Hl2 Deathmatch I miss the old darkrp mode too and more vanilla servers.
I didn't play HL2RP enough I had a bad pc and opted for less serious rp back then but in the old days datkrp wasn't some server with a bunch of ninja turtles and cartoon character player models either.

i like hl2 rp, but i hate the rank stuff/am too lazy to learn the millions of codes and stuff
