You need more discussion of the features during the video... What is the max. dia. limb the mower will handle? What happens if boom encounters limbs that exceed that diameter? (boom breaks, boom is spring loaded and moves out of the way). How high will it reach. What happens if you hit a metal part of the deer stand? (do you need to replace the entire boom or just one tooth?)
The distance between the guards drives how much can be cut…. Which varies by the material. If a limb is too big, then the operator has to backup. The reach is 142” above the ground. The teeth/blades are individually replaceable. Tractor Time with Time has a video on replacing the teeth…. As well as a variety of videos where it’s being used.
Wouldn't be easier to move the blind house out a few feet? I have the boom arm and use it to trim road banks. It has its limitations when it comes to getting ditch bottoms, but overall a good machine if one has a looong access road.
That would definitely be up to the hunter, but if they own or have access to a boom mower this is a great option for keeping your honey hole ready for when that monster buck walks out.
I can answer this definitively. No. The problem is when you put in a trail or are maintaining a shooting lane, mother nature will try to reclaim it. What grows up will now start to grow sideways. What starts as sticker bushes, green shoots and vines will turn into real tree limbs and plants. Keep it cut back while it’s green or you’ll end up having to cut back something that has bark or a stump. To me, the real appeal of this setup is it cuts high and can be stable on a hill. No every shooting lane looks like a bowling alley. At least ours don’t. Regards, Marky
Its always a plus for the property owner when he is a Ventrac dealer as well! Great job Kenneth!
