  • If you have been following our channel, then you may already know that I have been obsessed with 2-channel RC airplanes. Why? Because they provide the most affordable and easiest entry to our hobby. However, they also carry a critical responsibility: if they do not provide a great experience right out of the box, then they may scare newcomers away from the hobby.
Hence, I as an RC flying enthusiast and supporter, I feel that it is my duty to provide unbiased reviews and recommendations for the RC airplanes in this important 2-channel segment. The more people become RC hobbyists, the healthier and stronger our RC community will become.
I purchased this TY8 B-2 Stealth Bomber replica 2-channel ready-to-fly (RTF) RC airplane with 335mm wingspan from AliExpress for $21.13 shipped to my door:
    www.aliexpress.com/item/32568...
Inside the small nondescript box, everything was very basic but well packaged and organized. The airplane was fully assembled right out of the box. It only needed its battery charged and three AAA batteries (not provided) inserted into its small transmitter to get it ready for its first flight. As a bonus, it came with integrated blue LED lights under its wings, so it can be flown at night as well… that is, if it is a good flier or a “BUD”!
Due to the New England weather not cooperating with my RC flying plans, I ended up maidening this small RC airplane on a relatively windy evening. The wind was at about 10mph:
    • TY8 B-2 Stealth Bomber...
It felt very tail heavy and did not fly well. It reminded me of its sibling, the TY9 Cessna that I had reviewed a few months ago, also a problematic RC airplane:
    • TY9 Cessna 2CH 340mm E...
To make matters worse, its control range was only about 40 feet, and it kept losing control beyond that distance. I am suspecting the transmitter or receiver, but the battery may be faulty as well.
In the short second video, I shared some bonus footage with a ground takeoff, flying slow in close circles (to avoid losing connection), and several unsuccessful attempts of hand catching:
    • TY8 B-2 Stealth Bomber...
In this episode, I am diagnosing of the range issue with help from its sibling, TY9 Cessna. So, what was the cause of the very short control range: the battery, the transmitter, or the receiver? Well, you have to watch this video to find out!
In any case, if you really want to buy a solid, great flying, fun 2-channel airplane, you cannot go wrong with the QF-002 Baby, which is one of my favorites:

Take the transmitter apart and see what kind of antenna it has, maybe you can have it come out of the transmitter for better range

I wonder if a bigger propeller would work better if it would fit
