  • This Cedar Eater drone video explains the environmental benefits of cedar mulching, especially when compared to other land clearing techniques, like bulldozing. Watch and listen to Spence Hegener, Operations Manager of Cedar Eaters of Texas, as he explains how cedar removal can restore your land and increase its value. With the selective elimination of cedar trees, your land will become a productive, grassy watershed.
    The invasive cedar tree, Ashe Juniper (aka "blue berry cedar"), was controlled long ago by Mother Nature through forces like drought and wildfire. Natural wildfires and man-made wildfires, set purposely by Native Americans, kept the cedar in check for hundreds of years. With the absence of these natural forces, the encroachment of cedar is at a record high and depleting water sources across Texas. At Cedar Eaters, we take pride in knowing that we're doing our part to restore the natural balance to the land and, "Lending Mother Nature a Helping Hand."

    I just had Cedar Eaters clear part of my land out by Junction, TX. Roger and crew did an amazing job. It is like a whole new property. The mulch is fine enough to drive right over even with highway tires. The hand crew worked really hard cleaning up the oaks and all the surgical cuts around the buildings. Those guys must have walked 10 miles in one day doing all the hand cutting and dragging the cut material around for the machine to mulch up.
    Definitely will have them out again to clear fence lines.

      My family owns land outside of junction in roosevelt tx (+/- 500 acres) and is looking for a cedar clearing solution. The property owner had considered buying a skid steer with the mulching attachment and doing it himself. What in your opinion would be the cost benefit of using your services vs investing in equipment for future use?
      Thank you
      Ps if you wish to contact me privately outside of youtube comments I have an email for business use.

    Surely you can give a price range per acre, depending on flat terrain versus hilly.. Or is is billed by the hour?

    • @cedareatersoftexas6878
      @cedareatersoftexas6878 Před 6 lety

      Dear Mr. Benefield,
      We bill by the hour because one acre can vary so much in density, size of trees, etc. from the next. We like to look at your property and estimate the time needed to complete. This will give you the total cost and you can set a budget based on that. Please call our office 210-745-2743 to schedule your site visit and receive a free estimate.

    What happens when you hit rock with the machine? Looks like it won't work in certain parts of the Hill Country that have rocky steep slopes

    • @cedareatersoftexas6878
      @cedareatersoftexas6878 Před 6 lety

      Dear Mr. McNair,
      Rock is definitely a factor to be considered. Typically speaking, on most rocky terrain in the hill country, we do a "coarse grind" instead of back-dragging over and over which can damage the teeth on the machine. We grind down to just above the level of the rock. We can also "grub" cedars that are on extremely rocky soil using our excavator or even use a hand crew to cut the vegetation and drag it to an area that the mulcher can more easily reach. A site visit is best to determine the course of action to take. Please call our office at 210-745-2743 to schedule a free estimate.

    Except for the stumps that grow right back. The mulch making it hard for things to grow.

      Except cedar wont come back from a stump. As long as a cedar is cut off down below the lowest limb it is done, it does not come back.

    Also his interception and transportation figures have long been proven as false as the derived from a non-peer reviewed study found to have fabricated figures.

  • @highdeserthuntinggmail9375

    Intersting name for a company that doesn't deal with cedar. Junipers are what he refers to as "cedar."

      Nothing wrong with using the common name. Yes, it's ashe juniper, big deal. And mountain laurel isn't real laurel, so what?
