The way you caught your second fish has been happening to me so much. I was fishing a wacky rig the other day it wasn’t working, and once I reeled it in and got hit instantly on top water.
I have an old Grumman? Flat back canoe that is designed to put an engine on the back. That thing is probabaly about 1 1/2 times the width of a regular canoe. I cant flip that thing. My dad turned that and his canoe into a catamaran with a gas powered outboard and a trolling motor mounted to it in the middle. His current project is he is building a livewell on my canoe and trying it out. He is retired and bored. He was gonna make it into a sailboat but changed his mind. Its nice because he can put full sized lawn chairs with backs into the canoes or he made some seats with backs that he can put in the canoes if he wants to . He even took and old trailer and fixed it up for the canoes. It tilts so he can easily launch the canoes

Up in Alaska we’re finally able to bank fish, lakes and river have thawed just enough for us to cast into shallow water where the trout are hanging out

Shimano, diawa are top two no doubt, abu garcia after a certain price point and lews are about the same. That 120$ kastking is where the decent kastkings start the cheaper ones are made very well. Best 100$ reels are lews lfs, shimano slx and diawa ca80 or fuego and avu garcia revo 4 x. New abu revo 5x has a carbon frame.

I like a lot of the stuff 13 fishing has to offer. Good quality equipment that doesn't break the bank. Lews is also up there for budget/mid range equipment that is super reliable. Im currently testing out the 2024 Bass Pro Carbonlite combo and it's been treating me well so far. I think i prefer Lews Rods though.

I have three Kastking Reels two of which are spinning reels. They creak and pop a lot but havent died on me yet. The side plate keeps falling off of my Lews Baitcaster though. One of these days i will put some superglue in a spot to keep it on.
Ehh... i have the exact caster you are using in this video. No problems and it has been used. However, i saw the snapped frame of a shimano at my fishing spot...
@@megaraids8475 if someone snapped a aluminum shimano it wasn't on a fish lol. Maybe it was a cheap carbon shimano. But all the ones Yin used are super solid reels with aluminum or magnesium frames.

My favorite budget rod is a berkley cherrywood $20. But if you have some leeway, I’d recommend the halo xdIII pro, or KSII Elite. Since I am partnered with halo, I’ve been able to test their equipment for over 4 years and I’ve never had a rod snap on me when fishing.

Honestly, not everything from kastking is good but the zephyr sfs 1000 is REALLY impressive, I’ve caught my pb smally(6lbs) pb walleye, and a +/- 50’’ sturgeon on it and still running great. On the other hand, I didn’t even use my speed demon one season, I don’t like it, the guide keeps falling off and poor quality overall
