Keith Green Live 1977 opening for the Band "Parable" Saturdaynight with Pastor Tom Stipe

- Way back in 1977 Brent Higginson and John Wickham discovered Keith Green, went to Tom Stipe of Calvary Chapel and told him that he should invite Kieth to play. So on a Wednesday night, Kieth played. Brent made a cassette tape straight off the soundboard of Kieth's performance when he played at a Saturday night concert. CDs had not been invented yet.
Here I am in 2018 and I just got a copy of that night that Kieth had played so long ago. Melody Green was ambivalent about the tape when Brent told her about through her representative so it just sat around all these years. Not right!
So here is Kieth Green at his prime with passion for the Lord that is so rare in Christian musicians today. Take a listen and you will agree. What a blessing!
My Aunt and Uncle lived in Costa Mesa, California in the 70's at the height of the Jesus Music Movement. My uncle told me the story how after the went to their church on a Sunday night they went over to Calvary Chapel and some long hair hippie in overalls and sandals was just destroying his piano. My uncle said he had never seen anything like it, and the hippie was Keith Green.

Wow! After all these years I thought I'd heard all the recorded work Keith did. But Nope thanks to you I got to hear a couple more that were never heard by myself at least. LOL. So awesome! I can't help but be moved to Holy Tears when I hear this brother give his all at the piano!! Praise Jesus Christ our Savior!!
A new Keith Green song. What a gift! He, and the Second Chapter of Acts, shepherded this old hippie into a relationship with the Living Christ. Hallelujah!

I was a Saturday night counselor in 1977 when Keith Green debut at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa. Keith stuck around after we closed the church around 10:30pm and I rode my motorcycle down in a caravan to the Southern California Christian College, we went to the men's dorm that had a piano in the community room. Keith then played for another hour. I sat on the floor and felt like I was in heaven! I didn't want it to end but we had to stop at midnight. I rode my bike back to Dad's in Fountain Valley, singing Keith's songs at the top of my lungs into my helmet.
I wonder what amazing beautiful music he has been composing in the last 30 plus years?

I used to say Keith "Was a top-40 talent." Listening more often to his music, he was a consummate Entertainer, but his life circumstances put him in the Contemporary Christian Worship genre, for which we are forever grateful to God. He was a top-10 talent at worst.

I loved Kieth Green as he truly ministerd to us the true and living God! It was a powerful time in the 70s I was a teenager saved an baptized in Christ Jesus, Hallelujah 🙌
To this day as I am 63 I'm praising Him as I can now pray for Sean Fuecht let us worship! He is the fruit of Keith Green he talks of Keith and how he heard of him as his Dad had his music playing for him as a child!

Not sure what you are talking about when you say he was discovered by Higginson and Wickam in 1977. He already had signed with Sparrow records by 1976. And he was leading worship with the Vineyard in Hollywood with Kenn Gullikson since 1975, and he had his own huge vibrant ministry of house churches called Last Days Ministries by 1977. His history of discipleship was with the Vineyard, not Calvary Chapel. Though he might have played a few concerts for CC, that was not his church.

I think what Surfer51 means by "discovered": Not that they were the ones who discovered Keith in the sense that no one knew him yet, but in the sense that THEY hadn't known him until 1977 and wanted to introduce their church to Keith's music. Sometimes our written word can have several different meanings; that is why some jokes fall flat!

One last comment Keith. Money ruins everything.
It has been said that Keith was so amazing in his live performances, as compared to when he would go into the recording studio. For some reason, when he would record for an album, it just didn't match the energy of the live performance. An example of this begins at 22:02 - 22:17. You can sense the Holy Spirit just sort of take over as he gets lost in the music. Pretty amazing.

The person who uploaded it tried to include all of his Christian music, but something happened, so there are some silent gaps where there are about 12 songs missing. But it is still a great 4 hours of the other 64 songs listed. I put in the comment section which songs are missing for those who want to hear them. And I gave the names of each song listed.
