    Cynthia, how did you secure the headset cups, spacers etc? Removal of the fork is unique to Orucases and it would have helped to see how that step was done. Also, what was the black panel you placed behind the seat tube? It didn't seem to be strapped in position. Thanks.

      The black panel was frame protection padding from the orucase add on. It didn't quite fit into place because I didn't cut it to size- this is because I plan to use the frame protection for different bikes. Also, the frame I packed here has a wheel cutout which is unique for most gravel bikes.
      For the headset cups, spacers, etc I usually either ziptie them around the headtube, or tape them with electrical tape. It depends on what I have with me!

    ooooo what a neat bag! is there any additional room in the bag to to pack clothes or other things?

    • @wattwagon
      @wattwagon  Před 8 měsíci

      sooo much room! It also depends on how big your bike is. For a MTB There is space in the areas around the frame, above, below, in between. It's a little lighter than most bags but still you find you're at the bag limit quickly with ultra racing gear requirements.

      Be careful how much extra stuff you pack in as most airlines charge extra or refuse carriage if the bag is more than 50 lbs. Also, if travelling in or through the US the less you put in around the bike the less likely TSA will damage it or mispack it after inspection. It's safest for the bike if you just put the bike in there and nothing else.

      @@julianallen515 I like to the toe the line and hope they don't charge me for the extra weight. The good thing about this bag is that to open it, you go from the top rather than putting it onto it's side.

    That's a clever bag! Is it expensive, Cynthia?

    • @wattwagon
      @wattwagon  Před 8 měsíci +1

      The B2 with wheels is $649, the one without wheels called the airport ninja is $549. For me flying with either and not paying the full bike fee internationally would save me about that in checked bag fees in two flights!!!!

      @@wattwagon That's a good price - I was expecting it to be more.

    Is it necessary to take the disk brakes off?

    • @wattwagon
      @wattwagon  Před 5 měsíci

      I think that is up to person! I *almost* always remove my disc rotors. It keeps them from being bent. The worse thing is to arrive to your destination and then having a bent rotor from transit!

    It's actually super difficult to pack my bike the same way because of the annoying integrated hoses in the headset, you can't bring the handlebar far enough and you can't remove the fork completely as well, it needs to be close to the headset...

      i have this issue now with my integrated gravel bike. it's tough and i always worry about the cables. I pack it at the last minute and immediately unpack the handlebar when I arrive to prevent issues if possible! But at the end of the day this bag has saved me $$$$$$$$$$
