Piano sounds / KORG YAMAHA ROLAND NORD 曲目:至好朋友就是耶穌 / play by DDT Answer: 1.Nord Stage 2 2.Korg Kronos X 3.Korg PA900 4.Roland VR-09 5.YAMAHA Tyros4 6.Roland Fantom G8
These models are not necessarily the best example from every company. I don't know all of them but I know Yamaha and Roland have better pianos than the ones in those particular models. Ultimately I could use any of them just fine. Great video. Thanks.
the Roland VR09 is in a class all it's own here. if you're a classically trained pianist and looking for authentic ivory touch to the key bed, well the precision to the Roland's action cannot be overstated. when I close my eyes I sometimes feel like I'm playing a grand. I actually performed Rachmaninoff's second concerto on the VR09 in Carnegie Hall last summer, and I had people coming up to me afterward asking me where they could buy the keyboard
Gee, I thought they all sounded wonderful. I could not tell any difference in each of the wonderfulness. Great music choice, too. Very inspirational. Thank you very much.
Let me tell you, this is one of the best keyboard sound tests ever on CZcams.. It helps so much.. :) 1-5-4 was my top three choices.. So, Nord Stage-Tyros-VR09 is my preference order. And it's official now that (even just with hearing and not knowing it is a Korg,) Korg's are too bright for my taste !
i have very sensitive ears and definitively can detect bad harmony so my selection is 1.Nord Stage 2 2.YAMAHA Tyros4 3.Roland VR-09 4.Korg Kronos X 5.Korg PA900 6.Roland Fantom G8
As anticipated, Nord and Roland pianos outperformed the competition. Nord is the best option out of them all. The Roland's had some great character too. #1- Nord Stage2 2.-Roland VR09 3.-Yamaha Tyros4 4.-Roland Fantom G8 5.-Korg PA900 6.-Korg Kronos
Roland is the only digital piano brand that is certified by Conservatory Canada for Examination. That’s why it sounds more to steinway and sons. Yamaha sounds more like yamaha grand piano.
I always had a bias against Yamaha cause I had a bad simple keyboard, but now I got to admit, Yamaha owns all of them in this one. You should put other brands too like Casio, Kurzweil, Kawai if you can, would be great
Nord Stage 2 is the winner by a mile. Superb sound. I liked the Korg PA900 as well but didn't like Korg Phantom G8 one bit as it sounds very plain and dry. Tyros 4 was good but not as great as many say.
Yes, Nord really stood out for me. I have a Kronos and really like it (at least, I like the Steinway samples, not so keen on the Yamaha. I don't have the Bosendorfer), and I liked it here too, but not as much as the Nord. I'm going to have to get one of those. The Fantom sounded awful to me, not like a piano at all.
I prefer Steinway a piano, but to me you just can't beat a Yamaha Stage piano. For the professional piano player. Nord,Korg, Roland all have that clank sound when you hit the keys. They're all good, but each has its special sound as far as synthesizers. If you're looking for a good piano sound go with Yamaha Stage pianos you can't go wrong. That's my opinion.
Same for me too. Exactly the same pick. Piano 6 is an intentionally slightly out-o-tune upright. Our ears appreciate imperfection in search of authenticity.
1. Korg Kronos X, very good, metal resonance and woody, maybe for classical pianists 2. Korg Pa 900, good stereo image, maybe for jazz sessions 3. Nord Stage 2, too much compress and reverb, sounds like a dream piano, some plastic 4. Roland Vr 9, good, but cheaper sound for me 5. Yamaha Tyros 4, so much ep piano effect 6. Roland Fantom G 8, old sound, like an 80’s 90’s sound, too much compress and light sample Great great video :)
1.) Yamaha TYOROS4 - Most natural, just a half point off on the low end 2.) Nordstage2 - Most expressive, but sounds less natural than Yamaha 3.) Roland VR-09 - Subdued, but good on the low end. Slightly less natural 4.) Roland Fantom G8 - Clarity is good. Middle of the pack as far as natural sound 5.) Korg PA-900 - It's a Korg, didn't expect much in terms of piano, pretty flat 6.) Korg KronosX - The only thing I good I could say is that it emphasizes the highs well I'm still very surprised that the Yamaha won. The people aren't wrong. The Nordstage 2 would sound good on stage for it's high character, but I would never use it for my studio recording. You could really tell that's not a natural piano Sound.
We all know Yamaha has the most beautiful piano voices all these years, kinda disappointed it's sound a bit different in this video. Great video clip..🥉🥉🥉
Tyros4.Roland-the Best!!!
The More important than sound is quality of keys. some people may have piano but can't play it in free times (for example in night) and want an standard keyboard just for exercise in their bedrooms, i think playing "happy birthday" with these keyboards is harder than Chopin's.
5 - Yamaha had the best sound, it sounds the closest to a real piano. It sounds very warm and full. 1 - Nord IMO was a very close second, it's slightly more trebly and I guess Yamaha has a more driving low end. 6 - I had a hard time trying to place the Rolands because I knew they weren't the best but they're definitely not the worst either. This one just slightly surpassed 4 because of it having a slightly warmer sound. 4 - Again, the Rolands were like one was slightly better than the other. 3 - The Korgs sounded the worst out of all of them. Too trebly for my taste. 2 - This one had no full sound whatsoever, way too trebly and digitized. Overall, I'm sure all these keyboards have several different tones and features in them that can show off their true sound better than what this video has shown. (Not saying this video wasn't good, it was great.)
+melissa anthony I own a roland fantom, and its G piano sound is much much better. I don't know how did the player record the sound, but this was too trebly for me.
+Ján Bakoš That's what i want to say..i play most of the synths and digital pianos. Yamaha Motif and Roland RD/G series is my pick when it comes to real piano sound like.
You realize not all pianos sound the same right? Your statement is just flawed based on that one area alone. The Roland samples are closer to Steinway and Yamaha samples their own pianos. However, in my opinion the Nord and Korg Kronos were easily set apart from the rest of the pack and none of the others would even be in the running if I were purchasing one today (Based solely off this video of course).
I enjoyed this very much! I picked 1 and 5. I only wish you had indicated which patch was being used on each as there are many different pianos on each instrument.
1,2,4,3,5,6 I have to confess that I recognised the Kronos piano as soon as it appeared, as I have a Kronos, but I didn't expect to like the Nord better. To be fair these keyboards all have very many pianos. People saying that X is too bright or too dark or whatever should bear in mind that in most of these keyboards that is adjustable either within the preset or by choosing a slightly different one. Not sure why people like the Yamaha, it doesn't sound at all real to me, and yes I do have a real piano that I play often. Often the real piano is not as resonant/bright/dark as we remember.
Among these, Nord is the best. But could not understand why Kawai has been kept out of this friendly contest ! If Kawai ES7 was here, it would come in the first position, I am sure.
Thanks for a very sensible approach to comparison. The anonymity in the first section forestalls brand prejudice. IMO, the Nord and Yamaha both stood out with the former having more presence, the latter more realistic balance. I agree with those who point out that YT compresses sound quality so we don't get the full effect but all of the samples have the same handicap.
I have the impression you compared a Nord Stage with other 5 'average' pianos. If you pick yamaha's best, roland's best, and so on, you'll have a fair comparison. Or maybe you didn't even choose Grand Piano on others, because it doesn't sound like so. The only piano sound which sounds good there is the Nord imo. As the results came out, as nord owner I was relieved x)
What a friend we have in Jesus, I love that song, very beautifully done.
All of them sound good. Especially on stage when the sound engineer knows what to do to get the most of each one.
Never been a fan of the Korg Piano sounds, but their synths sound great! I have Nord and Yamaha and very happy!
Charlie Glasgow I was about to say.. The Nord and the Yamaha sound best to me :)
Too many toys, too little time! lol
These models are not necessarily the best example from every company. I don't know all of them but I know Yamaha and Roland have better pianos than the ones in those particular models. Ultimately I could use any of them just fine. Great video. Thanks.
If you can't decide, just take it to the Lord in prayer
Cool response. I picked up on the old hymn
Amen!
Exactly, right away I picked the nord and it was unexpected. It just sounds more rich and vibrant. The chord resonance is the best by far
.
Amen ❤️❤️
Forget about the pianos, the Hymn is ultimate
I love it ......
Absolutely!
the Roland VR09 is in a class all it's own here. if you're a classically trained pianist and looking for authentic ivory touch to the key bed, well the precision to the Roland's action cannot be overstated. when I close my eyes I sometimes feel like I'm playing a grand. I actually performed Rachmaninoff's second concerto on the VR09 in Carnegie Hall last summer, and I had people coming up to me afterward asking me where they could buy the keyboard
Brian Bernstein You must be a very good pianist.
I agree 👍, Roland is the best
I mean, own a small Roland xps10 keyboard, it performs like a heavy weight and people keep asking me the same question they asked you.
For overall sound, flexibility and feel the VR-09 is one of the best stage instruments you can buy. It will go down as one of Roland's best products.
NORD BY FARRRRRR IS BEST PIANO SOUND, its absolutely beautiful
No 5 definitely my favourite, and... Yes!! It's Yamaha!! Hehehe...
Gee, I thought they all sounded wonderful. I could not tell any difference in each of the wonderfulness. Great music choice, too. Very inspirational. Thank you very much.
Thank you for putting this together. Nice work and very helpful. Well done.
Kulihat ibu pertiwi sedang bersusah hati , Air matanya berlinang bak intan dan permata . . LIKE Song IBU PERTIWI - INDONESIA
idk... they're both sounds like heaven...
💕
Let me tell you, this is one of the best keyboard sound tests ever on CZcams.. It helps so much.. :)
1-5-4 was my top three choices.. So, Nord Stage-Tyros-VR09 is my preference order.
And it's official now that (even just with hearing and not knowing it is a Korg,) Korg's are too bright for my taste !
Lovely playing, beautiful selection, and great demo! Digital piano sound has improved so much since they first started. :)
NORD STAGE 2... the piano's sound is incredible, i can´t believe!!
It all sounded fantastic to me, y'all are too picky, relax!! It's beautiful music and a great song!!
Piano 1 = 0:18
Piano 2 = 0:31
Piano 3 = 0:47
Piano 4 = 1:02
Piano 5 = 1:17
Piano 6 = 1:32
You're welcome.
Thanks dude!
What a friend we have in Jesus ❤️🙏🏻
Buenísimo el recorrido por esos tremendos pianos, más aún con ese tema "Oh que Amigo nos es Cristo". Maravillosa interpretación.
What a friend we have in Jesus 😁

great comparison vid, thanks so much for putting this together :)
I agree. Thanks for doing this video Marvin W
I've always loved Nord. The most beautiful sound ever.
Nord is very beautiful
i have very sensitive ears and definitively can detect bad harmony so my selection is 1.Nord Stage 2 2.YAMAHA Tyros4 3.Roland VR-09 4.Korg Kronos X 5.Korg PA900 6.Roland Fantom G8
Agreed, except I like the VR better than the Yamaha here, even thougn the Roland has an annoying metallic ringing at times.
What a friend we have, indeed.
#1 was my favourite since I began to hear the sounds.
As anticipated, Nord and Roland pianos outperformed the competition. Nord is the best option out of them all. The Roland's had some great character too.
#1- Nord Stage2
2.-Roland VR09
3.-Yamaha Tyros4
4.-Roland Fantom G8
5.-Korg PA900
6.-Korg Kronos
Yes, He is my friend.
Thanks for taking a minute to watch- I really do appreciate any feedback and comments!

When I heard piano 1, I knew this must be nord. My favorite list is Nord stage 2, Yamaha and Roland G8
You should put other brands too like Casio, Kurzweil, Kawai if you can, would be great
Felipe Forlin do you have ears? LoL
Kurzweil is a tough one to beat. The triple strike grand is Steinway D samples and VAST makes it very expressive.
I really really like the song you're playing in this review. Excellent review btw! :)
francisjrn01 Thanks~!
Very helpful video, thank you.
Nord Stage 2 is the winner by a mile. Superb sound. I liked the Korg PA900 as well but didn't like Korg Phantom G8 one bit as it sounds very plain and dry. Tyros 4 was good but not as great as many say.
I meant Roland Phantom lol not Korg Phantom and I forgot about Korg Kronos which was good but not impressive for its reputation.
+AlbostyleG i agree
AlbostyleG : no question about it.
O Nord é imbatível não tem pra ninguém 1 Nord
2 Roland g8
3yamaha tyros4
I prefer Steinway a piano, but to me you just can't beat a Yamaha Stage piano. For the professional piano player. Nord,Korg, Roland all have that clank sound when you hit the keys. David Shaver thanx...yamaha was best in this...
A beautiful choice of song to play :).
I choose #2 & #6 in the beginning and amazingly, they were my most favorite keyboards most especially the Roland Fantom G8.;-)
1.Nord Piano
4.Roland VR-09
5.YAMAHA Tyros4
YES!
Me too
I have 3 choices:
Piano 1, Piano 5, and Piano 6.
Janelle Decosto Piano 6 is terrible imo
I agree with you!
YEAH, SAME.
Same for me too. Exactly the same pick. Piano 6 is an intentionally slightly out-o-tune upright. Our ears appreciate imperfection in search of authenticity.
Yap piano no 6
1. Korg Kronos X, very good, metal resonance and woody, maybe for classical pianists
2. Korg Pa 900, good stereo image, maybe for jazz sessions
3. Nord Stage 2, too much compress and reverb, sounds like a dream piano, some plastic
4. Roland Vr 9, good, but cheaper sound for me
5. Yamaha Tyros 4, so much ep piano effect
6. Roland Fantom G 8, old sound, like an 80’s 90’s sound, too much compress and light sample
Great great video :)
I liked the 1st one the best, and picked it to be the Nord, was glad it was too. Played a piano 4 recently, it was superb.
1.) Yamaha TYOROS4 - Most natural, just a half point off on the low end
2.) Nordstage2 - Most expressive, but sounds less natural than Yamaha
3.) Roland VR-09 - Subdued, but good on the low end. Slightly less natural
4.) Roland Fantom G8 - Clarity is good. Middle of the pack as far as natural sound
5.) Korg PA-900 - It's a Korg, didn't expect much in terms of piano, pretty flat
6.) Korg KronosX - The only thing I good I could say is that it emphasizes the highs well
I'm still very surprised that the Yamaha won. The people aren't wrong. The Nordstage 2 would sound good on stage for it's high character, but I would never use it for my studio recording. You could really tell that's not a natural piano Sound.

KU LIHAT IBU PERTIWI SEDANG BERSUSAH HATI AIR MATANYA BERLINANG MAS INTAN YANG KAU KENANG .
The song is a hymn "What a friend we have in Jesus"...
Bien Anatan in my opinion its "Ku lihat ibu Pertiwi" instrument..
I picked the Yamaha first the Nord stage 2 second. Yamaha sounded like a real piano to me, everything else felt sticky, digitized and tinny.
I have the same feeling as yours. I used to play Yamaha clavinova since I was a child.
yamaha here is the best electronic sounding ones way too much sustain it is ridiculous !
Absolutely😀 we got similar ear drums👍
That Nord is addictive. Thanks for the video. :)
NORD Stage-2 ....Loved it...
Yamaha absolutely win the battle, second Nord, only these two sound almost like a real Grand Piano.....
KKKKKKKKKKKKKKK sabe nada de teclado, falou muita merda / don't know keyboard KKKKKKKKKK
in my blind test, Yamaha (piano 5) was clearly the WORST... followed by Roland G8.... Sounds totally fake
just to be clear.... it sound very good, but does not sound like piano... almost like an eletric piano. Nord nails it by far
@@guilhermeruppert3491 you got that right !
Eh... Did he chose Grand Piano (0:0) On Roland Fantom G6?
It just sounded like Electric Grand Piano (0:4)
Son unas de las marcas favoritas para mi ,sonidos muy geniales .y tocas super bien amigo me encanta esa melodia Saludos desde chile ☺
These sounds of Roland are so beautiful!
KORG 👍👍
1 of course
good idea and also nice play!
I selected the nord and it was unexpected to be honest. It just sounds more rich and vibrant. The chord resonance is the best by far.
Nord killed it gracefully
Baran Topal
Agree 100%. The sound from Nord is incredible. Of course it's so difficult to beat a Roland at any time.
1- Nord Stage2
2-Korg Kronos
3- Roland VR09
4-Yamaha Tyros4
5-Korg PA900
6-Roland Fantom G8
( todos bons )
+Quieu Barbosa Legal meu tecladado é um Vr 09, e até que é bonzinho.
Yamaha, the best. Por lejos el mejor sonido emulado de piano. Saludos desde Montevideo Uruguay.
I selected El Nord The sound is compact e impresionant, is beautiful.
The More important than sound is quality of keys.
some people may have piano but can't play it in free times (for example in night) and want an standard keyboard just for exercise in their bedrooms, i think playing "happy birthday" with these keyboards is harder than Chopin's.
Its strictly YAMAHA & NORD for me!...nothing else wont do.
Yup rolland n korg the mid
Samee
I like piano1. It’s so beautiful!
1 and for were my favorite food thing to cause I've been wanting a nord
I like the 1st one best
5 - Yamaha had the best sound, it sounds the closest to a real piano. It sounds very warm and full.
1 - Nord IMO was a very close second, it's slightly more trebly and I guess Yamaha has a more driving low end.
6 - I had a hard time trying to place the Rolands because I knew they weren't the best but they're definitely not the worst either. This one just slightly surpassed 4 because of it having a slightly warmer sound.

Ján Bakoš Exactly
Melissa Anthony in my opinion, nord is the best of all. roland fantom is the worst.
You realize not all pianos sound the same right? Your statement is just flawed based on that one area alone.
The Roland samples are closer to Steinway and Yamaha samples their own pianos.
However, in my opinion the Nord and Korg Kronos were easily set apart from the rest of the pack and none of the others would even be in the running if I were purchasing one today (Based solely off this video of course).
first song is definitely indonesian national song , the title is 'Kulihat Ibu Pertiwi' , that's a beautiful song , well played
I enjoyed this very much! I picked 1 and 5. I only wish you had indicated which patch was being used on each as there are many different pianos on each instrument.
Para mí 1, 5 y 6 son mis elecciones
i like Nord stage 2
1,2,4,3,5,6
I have to confess that I recognised the Kronos piano as soon as it appeared, as I have a Kronos, but I didn't expect to like the Nord better.

Not sure why people like the Yamaha, it doesn't sound at all real to me, and yes I do have a real piano that I play often. Often the real piano is not as resonant/bright/dark as we remember.
The song you played seems like an indonesian song "ku lihat ibu pertiwi". Beautiful played dude 👍
The Nord sounds the most natural to me, and is the only one I might mistake for a real piano.
Among these, Nord is the best. But could not understand why Kawai has been kept out of this friendly contest ! If Kawai ES7 was here, it would come in the first position, I am sure.

Roland VR-09 - the humble V-Comp - cool sound
1- Nord Stage 2
2- Yamaha Tyros4
3-Korg Kronos X
4-Roland VR-09
5-Korg PA900
6-Roland Fantom G8
I liked 5 the most, followed by 1, I think Nord has a little too much FX (in this take at least)
Great test, thank you.
I love this keyboards!
I like the 1st and the 4th the best. The 3rd was also good. And I disliked the 6th being the worst.
I have the impression you compared a Nord Stage with other 5 'average' pianos. If you pick yamaha's best, roland's best, and so on, you'll have a fair comparison. Or maybe you didn't even choose Grand Piano on others, because it doesn't sound like so.

i liked the roland vr o9 and korg kronos
kronos had a very rich sound
thanks for the video
I'll take the Nord2. This is a great demo, by the way. Thank you for doing this!!!
Thanks
Nord is the most impressive and i'm a ROLAND guy...
Key Wizard followed by?
true, I tgought it to be Korg😋
Try Roland Rd 2000
Korg KRONOS
very helpful thanks, pretty playing I would call that piece Spring Hope :)
Ondra B Thanks :)!
sehr sehr schön, mein Favorit Nr.1, gibt es Noten zu den Musiktitel?
Danke für Antwort
I think that Korg Kronos X has the nicest piano sound.
I liked the Yamaha best. The tone was so natural sounding in all registers.
They all sound great! Beats having to move around a heavy grand piano around. Though I do love strings piano as well. Nice demo.
Os graves cheios do Nord e seus agudos brilhantes são imbatíveis, embora o Roland esteja bem próximo, para o meu gosto, claro....
5, 1 ,3 , 6, 4, 2
ROLAND 👍👍👍👍👍
