- Offshore flight with my favorite colleague "Jean" AKA "Bro" and me in the right seat (Pilot Flying). I have a new audio recorder and it seems to work very well. Struggling still a bit with editing and cutting.. But at least I enjoy the process :-)

Great video, nice to see Den Helder from your perspective rather than a passenger.
I’m one of HLO/Radio Op’s on the J6A, we don’t get you guys on our deck that often due to using CHC. Always a pleasure to fly with Dutch pilots
Thanks a lot! for your nice comment! :-) Looking forward to see you on the J6A
The whole flight is like a ballet. THe crew works really well together. CRM. I love those gold epaulets. Tattered and well worn. Now that’s a captain. Beautiful aircraft and the flight deck is awesome. I agree - more of this would be a good thing.

Den Helder Airport "de Kooi", I flew thousand times from D.H. in 43 years working offshore. Before D.H. Airport was ready for Offshore Flights we took off from Marina Park .
@@eduardomontes1276 wow!! Amazing! Thanks for the reply. Did you fly in the S61? From Placid? Awesome! Only seen the pictures… from the marina park
@@helichrisPA28 My first flight was with Placid chopper, it was a Bolkow Bo 105, It was round 1979, I still remember the color (Red), after that KLM Helikopters, S 58, S 61 and S 76. During that period I remember flying with Panda Air for a short period of time. I don´t remember with material they use. I´d been also working abroad and I remember a few more choppers that I flew as a pax, in Spain Alouette and s S 58, Denmark with Super Puma and Bell UH 1, Scotland Super Puma and Chinook, Norway Super Puma, Middle East S76, Baku MI 8, Canada Super Puma, Australia AW models and a few more countries that I don't remember anymore. The most funny moment was in Baku on that MI 8 (Russian manufacturer), it was dripping hydraulic oil from the ceiling and nobody cares ( a few drops) 😅😅
@@eduardomontes1276 wow!!!! amazing! Thanks for sharing. What an incredible experience
I am not a helicopter pilot, but having flown in a few; civvie and military, it seems to me that these guys spent a vast amount of the first section of this flight with eyes inside and not scanning outside....just my observation from an amateur perspective. I've done lots of fixed wing GA flying over the years and whilst I fully understand the complexity and huge differences here, it seems both crew just don't keep a good scan going, especially while in the area of the airfield and circuit....? Great vid though.....I love helicopters!!
@@lawrencemartin1113 thanks for you comment! We fly IFR. And are separated from other traffic by ATC. Later in the flight (offshore) we are responsible ourselves for separation. 🤗 but very good comment 👌💪
Australia uses this model for ambulance and rescue . Absolutely amazing work hoarse of choppers
@@William2512 thanks for your comment!! Indeed! Absolutely amazing work hoarse 💪💪
@helichrisPA28 The Lenardo group donated 6 of them to the state of NSW , Other states and territories were so impressed they purchased them also. How the transmission was made for this chopper is amazing . It's on CZcams some where
@@William2512 it is indeed! I’m flying both the 139 and the 189. The gearbox design and safety is absolutely amazing.
@@helichrisPA28 Awsome
Awesome job, Captain and amazing machine! How many hours you guys fly on average, per month?
@@maconstantino thanks! We do around 500 per year…
OMG it's amazing to see a full flight! Thanks man this is a really important for me! The Communications and Aurals hears great. At 10:53 you decrease the IAS Mode with Beep Trim, below what speed does the HDG Mode auto deactivate? At 11:03 all AFCS Modes are deactivated because you pressed FD STBY on the cyclic, or did you drop below a minimum speed? And if is the second, what speed is it? Thanks again for your videos, they are a huge help to me, THANK YOU!!!! 🙏
Hi! Thanks for your nice comment! Indeed when decreasing the IAS wiht the beep trim the HDG mode comes in at 40kts. (depending on the software phase of the helicopter) when we land or maneuver visual before landing we press the FD STBY indeed.
@@helichrisPA28 Thanks for the quick answer! Now everything is clear, have a nice day 👍😊
@@Helicopterx1 you too! I’m out flying again 🤣

@@Helicopterx1 Ill make another one as PNF (Pilot Non Flying) from the left seat with all audio too. Have a nice day!
Fly safe!

Like how you're referencing the collective position with your finger on the central panel on lift.
@@littlepurpleaeroplane8002 thanks! That is indeed something I do always
@@helichrisPA28 me too.
All the automation in start section and mostly hands off flying is foreign to me, but that shuffle is still the same.
@@86AW11 😬 indeed.
@@helichrisPA28 Old Rotorhead myself, miss that shuffle most days.

@helichrisPA28 Indeed it is.
Hello Commander. Excellent video. I wonder how you managed to record the conversation because I don't see any wire connecting the cameras to the headset. Was it via Bluetooth? What model of camera do you use? Thanks
@@quartieriJQO thanks for your message. I use a GoPro 12 and two GoPro 10’s. For the audio I use a zoom H4 audio recorder. It’s on a splitter cable before my headset. Works very well. But you have to sinc the video with the audio afterwards
Thank you very much for the explanation. I'm starting OffShore Aviation on the AW -139 here in Brazil and your videos are a great lesson for me. Congratulations on the videos.
@@quartieriJQO great!! Thanks for your comment
Sorry helicopter
awesome video! what iPad strap are you using there?
We’re using the iPad mini. Don’t know what model
@@helichrisPA28 thanks! I meant the case/leg strap. looks like a pivot case.
@@blue_1247 sorry. Indeed pivot
If this is north sea offshore why no survival suits? When i worked offshore, ok a while back everyone wore them.
@@paulgreen2220 thanks for the message. As pilots we are allowed when the sea water if above 11 degrees, daylight, low waves and SAR available, to wear our summer suits. Passengers always have survival suits indeed.
The controller sounds Norwegian.
It is Dutch
With a 2 engine helicopter, how do you synchronize the engines so that the shaft speed is the same?
@@sociopathicnarcissist8810 the rpm of the rotor is kept constant. The load of the engines is matched by the engine fuel control unit.
@@helichrisPA28 Thanks for letting me know, I've always wondered about that.
@@sociopathicnarcissist8810 no prob!
How come yall don't wear helmets?
@@Forestryman707 offshore civilian operations you rarely see helmets used. We use laminated glass wind shields for safety (bird hits) and we spend long hours in the cockpit. Headsets are more comfortable then
