I recommend adding feta cheese after tossing the salad with dressing. That will keep the fresh taste of cheese instead of it being soaked in oil. But it depends what you like.
I discovered this on another person’s CZcams channel and I agree with you. I actually add the dressing last! It tastes better that way for me

Hello from Greece! For those who are wondering, Greek salad doesnt contain lettuce. Also, we dont use netheir mustard nor thyme in the dressing. But its always good to see your videos and trying your recipes. Thank you!
Hello to Greece. Would you kindly please tell me how authentic Greek dressing is made. I had some today at a Greek restaurant and I did not taste any vinegar.
@@janetholmes6659 Good morning! In Greek salad, anyone can put whatever he wants. The dressing in restaurant, normally is optional. Although, we prefer a combination of olive oil, salt , oregano and some people put vinegar too. Vinegar is something extra that elevates the plate, but not all people like it. So, its up to you. Dressing 3:24:
1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
1/2 lemon zest
1 tsp fresh thyme
2 tbsp fresh oregano
2 tbsp red wine vinegar
2 tbsp honey mustard
1/2 lemon juice (2tbsp)
1/2 tsp salt
This needs the olives and feta to round out it's flavor.

I make a Greek salad about every day except I only use cucumbers, tomatoes, basil, and olives, along with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. I’m not a fan of any of the other ingredients, but people look at me crazy when I tell them that an original Greek salad doesn’t actually have lettuce in it!!!!
I'm from Bulgaria and we eat something called 'Shopska Salad'. It's basically Greek salad but instead of Feta cheese, we use another cheese that is really similar called 'Sirene' and it's delicious. In my family, we don't put garnish and oregano, etc. we just use tomatoes, cucumber, onion, sirene, olive oil, and vinegar. (I prefer mine without onion, but that's just my opinion. Thanks for this awesome video. I think I'm going to make some right now with olives..
We have this also in Romania and instead of feta we use Romanian traditional white cheese

I bought salads from Panera Bread yesterday, got home and they were HORRABBLE, the greens were totally old and wilted I threw it in the garbage. Sooooooooo I found the recipe and made my own today and it came out so delicious, thank you for sharing, I love your cooking video's. 🥰

Yes,during winter months when cucumbers were not avalible (or too expensive to buy) substituted with lettuce.
I agree. I'm originally from the Greek mountains and we never make our salads with lettuce. Only tomatoes, onions, cucumbers, oil salt and oregano, feta cheese and olives are optional for us. Here in the USA they make them so different

Greek here and living in Greece. I have to say I have never seen anybody here add vinegar and lemon juice to their χωριάτικη σαλάτα (Greek salad). Certainly no honey/mustard!! Salt, oregano and olive oil straight into the bowl and mix. That's all. But of course everyone has their personal taste.

Recipes for Greek salad vary so much from village to village let alone the islands . This is a nicely balanced mix of ingredients and I like the dressing. I am a bit of an oregano 🌿 freak so I use extra dried as well as the fresh.
