Yes, I first painted the blue, then I cracked the blue, the traced on the stars.then carved them.
    Hope that helps.

Both would work, but you can just let it dry on it own and it would still work

I really like this method of crackling paint especially for my horror project yours turned out really good…? Does it matter what kind of wood you use also what wood was used in this project?

Great technique, are you using Latex paint or Oil based paint?

Hi there! This is awesome! Trying to figure out how you did the union part. Can you go into more detail? Did you do a blue background and then stencil on the stars with vinyl?

Hi Luther! Looks great! I have heard that Elmer's or another PVA/White glue will work also, not just the "wood glue" is that true? Thanks again!

Yeah..I think other white glue would work..I would try it on a smaller piece of wood first to see if it works..I have only used wood glue. Just a note..you don't necessarily need a heat gun to make it crack...just naturally let it dry and it will crack.

    Hair dryer or heat gun?
And yes, more glue makes bigger blocks. Thin areas of glue , small crackles

Hi from Australia, does the cracking work best using a gloss paint? I've used flat in past and it's not been successful. Florence

I'm sure I used a semi-gloss or gloss paint. I'm not sure why it wouldn't work with a flat paint. The paint I used for the red and the white stripes was some old paint we had around the house. Hope this helps.

Just a heads up,, since you are "down under" you have to put the red paint on first and then the glue goes on top.
Just kidding with ya mate! LOL
