my first wheel bearing change was a 99 kia, it had to be pressed out, luckily i had access to a press on a military base, but my cars after that 1, bearing and hub assembly, so much easier then using a press
~4:46 - goggles or, better yet, a face shield if the brush gives up bristle at the RPMs of that tool? 🤷♂️ Is it a good idea to apply a light film of brake.pad.grease inside of that backing plate hole? ~6:57 - lug nut torque wrench tightening 50 miles to 100 miles later?
Hey Scotty what kind of air compressor are you using, if you don’t mind me asking..?
Mercedes, the 9g for a single clutch is snappy as fcuk and apparently reliable...
How much should this cost scotty I need it done this week
Scotties voice is the only good sound a car can make
Rev up your engines
Gosh Darn that was the fastest bearing assy replacement I ever saw!!!! Holy Mackeral 🏁🤪
Haaa! Amen.😀
Its funny how scotty only liked your comment.
Scottie should make a Rev Up Your Engines car horn.
I love how Scotty can condense an entire day's work into just over 7 minutes. No screaming or swearing either.
when he speeds it up and its squeaky I think he may swear in that segment of the video.
Scotty is basically the anti-Gordon Ramsey
You must be my neighbor! lol 😂
Scotty swears too, he just edit those parts.
Scotty admitted to swearing from a video before, but obviously he doesn’t record or show any of it
Scotty has discovered the speed settings in editing. Haha
When he did the wire brush at 4:45 it sounded just like being at the dentist! :D
I love it
I did enjoy the real-time videos of his older days. They're too produced now!
I think he stated doing it this way because nay sayers said he’s not a real mechanic.
OMG the pop up images. LMAO. "thats what she said".
That's what I often say.
I never thought I’d see that on a Scotty vid. Well done, sir.
Lol
"Honey, our new neighbor is playing with blow torches again.."
And right next to a bone dry lawn
Hahha, I often wonder what his new neighbors think. Do they know they now reside adjacent to a living legend?! 😁
I agree with you both. Seems to me Scotty has chosen a house his wife wanted because I can’t believe he would have actually chosen such a limited CZcams video recording area. Did he somehow convince his wife that he was no longer shooting CZcams videos???
He’s a legend, that any happening.
BTW, I didn’t see a Fire Extinguisher 🧯 handy during the hot work portion 😬😬😬
Scotty I like the new editing. Nice to see you do an old school fix.
That would be an all-day Saturday job for me, including recovery nap and boasting to neighbors.
Got to throw in a cold beer or two
A week off recovering from housemaid`s/vicar`s knee, last time I spent so long in that position
Since my dad died, i just like watching your vids lol. Usually I'd ask him all of my auto Q's and that's how I came across your channel. You just explain things in a clear, confident way & i really appreciate it.
"Revvvvvv up your excitement, it's Scotty-time!" I'm the only car guy in the family, but everybody knows Scotty!
He makes this look so easy....this would of been all day for me, and alot of course words.
Hes like my youtube father mechanic DIY
Um, he's OUR CZcams father mechanic.
Lol definitely!
Bro u talking like you his only child on here or some em..
Cool, just don't expect a CZcams allowance.
Couldn't you press out instead of using a torch ??
I always torque wheel bolts in a star pattern to avoid warping something.
Round of Applause to the only car enthusiasts CZcams channel with millions of subscribers without having any Lamborghinis or Bugattis on his channel, TRULY AMAZING.
I'd love to see someone bring a Lambo or Bugatti to Scotty and have him assess the car's condition.
Love the way wind blows on Scotty's hair.
It's nice when you show and tell sometimes instead of just tell.
“Turn the torch off and see if we can wack it off”
Hahahaha. I caught that too.
69 likes, y’all are too much 🤣
...as the actress said to the bishop...
I be honest...
I be cursing alot if i was doing this job....scotty you have alot of self control
just good editing!
@@scottykilmer lol
Rookie mechanics tend to lose self control.
People who curse live longer. Best to let it out, LoL! 🖖
@@scottykilmer LOL, you'd fit in perfectly in Australia too we yell at our tools and curse them bolts all day long.
Scotty I know I speak for more than just myself when I say there many many people who are grateful for you and your videos. I've commented in the past about my grandfather and his desire to teach all of us grandkids to be self sufficient when we were young when it came to self repairs. Now that I'm in my 40s your videos take me back to a time when I still had my old man to take the time to explain form and functionality and how to do these repairs. Thank you so much for your hard work and efforts. You are Americas "uncle fixit".
I love these videos Scotty! I’ve been out of mechanics because of school, so it brings me much joy to learn and see things being put together flawlessly!
Scotty hey! I have been watching you for a long time I always take your advice,im a big fan man your the best honest mechanic i have seen on youtube!
“That’s What She Said”!!!!! Classic!!!
Isn't a handy pack of nuts and bolts also called the House and Senate?
Well played!
screws ?
Haha truth 🤣
They are more nuts and dolts. 😂
Grade 8 is not cheap either.. hope they did not come from harbor freight
Scotty, it's a pleasure and a privilege watching you in action. Hadn't seen that before. Really love your work; neat, fast and above all very well explained. kudos.
Was planning on doing this as soon as it gets a bit warmer in a few weeks. Didn’t have to go look’n for a good video. Scotty K already showed me! Thanks!
Hi Scotty!
1) Never bang on a rotor, especially when there is an alternate method of removing it.
2) Please tighten lug nuts in the proper order! After tightening the first one, go to the "opposite" one and continue in a crisscross pattern. And gradually hand tighten before using the torque wrench. This will prevent the rotor from warping.
I get a Scotty notification and put everything down and watch
👊🏿
Clearly you love what you do, its awesome to see someone enjoying doing something.
Perfect Timing! I have to replace both front wheel bearing assemblies on a Dodge Journey this week!
Thanks again, Scotty ! Peace be with you!
When jacking a unibody car, I like to put a piece of wood on top of the jack saddle so there is no chance of bending or scratching anything. I also hang calipers up out of the way with a piece of coat hanger.
I use a bungee cord. I'm suprised Scotty let the caliper hang by the brake line.
They sell those black rubber hockey puck looking things (jack pads) with the slot down the middle which work pretty well also on those pinch welds.
Hey scotty I used to work at a tire store I totally agree with you always buy tire made in USA the Asian tires even have a funny smell to them
That was a very satisfying video to watch. Love watching a skilled mechanic work.
I learn a lot from Scotty, thank you very much Scotty I always watch your videos 🙏🏾😎
“Scotty is a Legend”
God bless you Scotty. Love listening/watching your videos
Thanks Scotty for making my days a little better.👊
If you kept your shirt on, our days would be better too 😏
That’s a lot of work! Thanks for the detailed video.
Morning Scotty, I always learn something from you. Your Great ! Thanks !
I like the editing Scotty nice job on the ff.
Another successful Master Mechanic Course completed by Professor Scotty Kilmer! 🎓👨🏭🛠⚙️🔩
Bringing back memory high school auto shop. Thanks Scotty. 😀👍
Great 👍 job Scotty again I’ve learned so much keep up the great Tutorials
Small tip: make sure the rotor fits on the new hub/bearing assembly before installing. Saves a lot of time if the part ends up being a different size/bolt pattern
Bro I was midway through a brake pad change for a coworker and he bought the wrong damn pads for the front. Apparently the guy who sold them to him gave him the wrong ones. Atleast I finished the backs with no issues, but the front ones are kinda 70% more important lol
"Is he reviewing a car or torching one?"

Scotty, you have so much patience, makes me want to swear just watching you go through all the details. Great job, great video great talent and knowledge. There no one like Scotty!
Love to watch him work. Its art
Scotty: Can you hear it? *Spins Bearing and talks over it*
Me: no...no i haven't
Hey Scotty, how do you like your new neighbors? Is Tennessee really as friendly as they say? Love the videos! 😁😁
Absolutely, although as more people move here, a lot of the quaintness is leaving (in the more populated areas).
The question is how do they like Scotty?
@@DonTSmith he works. They will love him.
@@sansocie yep, they don’t much care for druggie burnout losers in Seierville

Don't know why this is my favorite type of your videos, but keep them coming.
It's a bit of a pain, but it's better than cleaning and repacking bearings
Tennessee seems to have given you some super powers
Scotty love when you repair cars on your videos they way you explain it is awesome
Thanks, I really enjoy your videos

Great work! Big fan from Brazil!
First time I've seen Scotty work in a while lol great job scotty
GOOD day Scotty, let's get started teacher 🙌🧰👍
Disclosure: No horses were emotionally abused to laugh at this video 🤣
Glad to know I'm not the only one who finds that everything gets stuck and can't be removed with just a socket wrench/screwdriver. I thought it was just me. Scotty's been a great help with techniques on getting stuff un-stuck, from adding pry bars for more leverage to even torches like here.
I had a baring go out in my 1999 4.6 V8 mustang, you absolutely can tell cause it will slow down your vehicle, and you can feel the lag, and hear it . You're a good mechanic Scotty
Back in 2017 i had 0 miles kia rio and it caught fire.
Scottys next video, "Why this customer regrets having an after market hub assembly"
Thank you again Scotty.
Great video! good advice!
Hi Scotty. Where there's a will there is a relative 🥲
That Avalon looks really good I have to say
They’re really great cars very easy and comfortable to drive.
In the UK we call them Avensis. Mine did 350k and the motor was still good AC worked like new without ever being refilled, but 15 years hard driving there wern't any straight panels left.
Bravo Scotty!! I think that this was your most useful and interesting video you have ever made!! Both the wheel bearing and the question and answer session. Don't say that I never gave you credit for your hard work 😁
Video quality improved 👏 whatever you're doing is working well
@4:32 should have shown the Tin Man in bed when you said want to " Whack it off" 🤣
I hope God will bless me with a true mechanic like Skotty one day.
Scotty is the best of both worlds. He is a great mechanic and is so well informed. Rare!
"You want something done right, do it yourself" (old Swedish saying)
I'd like to see someone try that ethos with any of the new Volvo's, it would devour the uninitiated.
Thanks Scott good video
Thank you so much for this video
I have to hand it to Scotty, working with just a floor jack at his age is not the easy thing to do.
Yeah that was a lot of work and pretty athletic
Age is just a number when you`re as fit as a butcher`s dog. I`ve seen young men buckle at less.
Sooo.. did that cheaper hub work? did the ABS light come on?
I guess he forgot that part
Love the honesty! Go Scotty!
Love these videos of him working on the cars
Anyone else wondering if Scotty tested to see if the ABS still worked with the aftermarket bearing?
Well Scotty, did the ABS work ok after the repair?
I am curious. You can see a very short clip of the dash when he starts it that the ABS/ETC lights are on... having a feeling it’s not functional. I didn’t see the step where he unplugged or plugged in any sensors either. So it’s hard to say haha
If there is no warning light, the computer is not concerned. He would have needed a slippery surface on which to check it. ABS doesn't work on dry roads...not necessary.
@@sergeilutzak2479
Abs light was on. See the comment above.....
That's where the profanities came in. They were edited out.
It’s a very good video.
Thank you for the education.
It would take a while to figure all those nuts and bolts out by myself if I didn’t look this educational short-film first.
I'm actually older than Scotty, but he seems like my dad also. Love this guy don't ever take him off of CZcams. He actually shows you the work mechanics have to do. You don't want to be a mechanic if you're lazy, that is hard work I worked on my car 1 hour had to go in the house and rest for 5 hours. I'm a wimp
I hope those aren’t Harbor Freight Jack Stands.
no, Scotty has some old steel jack stands
Awesome! What was That 🤣😂
Great job Scotty. Love your videos.
Thank you for the video
You can just hammer the center part of the rotor to get it off 😂😂

What?! You have to replace something on Toyota?!
Love to watch you work!!💖💖👏👏👍🎉
Nice tutorial Scotty! So a floor jack directly on those factory jacking point indentations is fine then. Cool!
"That's what she said" LOL
I remember in the 70's the bionic man Steve Austin, was working as fast as Scotty! 🤖
Oh stone cold Steve Austin nice lol
