BJ explains the benefits of adding the simple airbrush water and dust inline filter to your airbrush set up.
The small filter fits between the airbrush and the hose to act as the final filter to catch any water and debris that may exist in the hose.
Cold hoses can cause warm air from the compressor to condensate water onto the hose.
Any water flowing through airbrush will ruin your finish.

I put this on the air hose and then put the quick connect on it, so all my airbrushes have the benefit of a secondary moisture trap.

I tried to put my in-line filter at the end of my hose, instead of on the gun..this way no matter which gun I have on this one hose..there is a moisture trap on it. But after doing this I am getting bad air leak(from top of quick connect to gun). Is what i am doing not possible?..or could there be a simple issue that has occurred during re arrangement? (I have changed out the female quick connect at the top of the mini-trap to make sure I didn't have a bad connector....and i have also tried multiple guns)

Thank you for watching. Of course what you are trying to do is possible. They are just thread fittings so any leaks will be the fitting itself. Sounds like the thread or seal of the female quick connect is not machined well to suit your gun. Try some teflon tape on the thread to seal it.

I tried your method but now I’m getting tiny clots of paint while spraying!! Any idea why?

Which method are you using as I am demonstrating the inline filter? Could you explain to me what you are doing please? What kind of airbrush, paint, thinning ratio, additives, air pressure and processes?

@@HearnsHobbiesMelbourne thanks for writing back. I had water spitting issues so I installed a second moisture trap at the airbrush. Now, I'm getting tiny clots of paint even when only pressing the lever, aka not pulling the airbrush lever.
I have the Iwata smart pro compressor and using psi of anywhere between 20-25. I have the Iwata eclipse airbrush and using Daler-Rowney FW Acrylic "no thinner".

I haven't used Daler-Rowney FW Acrylic before but after watching some videos, it looks thick to airbrush through your Eclipse. I would thin it down a touch to a "milk-like" consistency. Are clots dried chunks or dots of wet paint? With the clots of paint when you only press for air pressure, does it happen every time or sometimes? The nozzle is always loaded with paint and it is necessary to give a quick squirt of air to clear the nozzle before spraying on the target. This needs to be done each time.

@@HearnsHobbiesMelbourne I cleaned the needle today and the wet clots disappeared!! I honestly don't know if it was the needle or something else causing this but I'm glad it went away...
      Thanks for all your help.....

Can u clean the filter? Or u need to buy a new one?

    • @HearnsHobbiesMelbourne

You can clean the filter by flushing with water in the reverse direction and allowing it to fully dry before using again. You wont need to clean it unless you work in very humid, extreme temperature, or dusty environments. In that case it is probably safer to simply buy a new one.
