as an actual skateboarder I like the historical aspect with session
I like how it sorta has a story
Yea, it rewards you with like trophies for hitting historical tricks down historical spots, I’m just getting into skating so it was fun accidentally doing them.

Session wins for me in terms of the way the flip tricks and grinds look, physics, and overall gameplay/feel.
I’d say sessions tricks look better cause the rotation is a bit slower than sxl but mods can make sxl look and feel just like session plus with all the extra maps from the community so good

@@luizalves76if your asking seriously its because the term vanilla when it comes to games means a game without mods that change the experience. Just the raw game, no sprinkles or chocolate sauce

Bro I used to ride for skater xl but as soon as I got my hands on session I already fell in love with it more than sxl. But I like skater xl’s soundtrack more tho ngl

I will say, session is much more satisfying when u land tricks, grinds, etc
yeah, first day playing SXL i was doing trey flip nose blunts like it was skate 3....oh wait. they are pretty much the same exact game.
As long as they both keep updating the game, I'll be playing both.

@J N yea,I really dont play much of XL anymore. Since getting session, I found the game to be alot better with most things. And Session actually has good updates n way more to come. I do hope skater xl has a really good update in the future cuz they said so much was coming yet, nothing. Glad Session is pushing it.

I just like the physics of Session personally. Still has a ton of room to grow tho
Of course every game needs work I think session and xl should be the main titles skate eh not really a sim
As 1). A person who skates, and 2). A guy whos played A LOT of Skater XL especially compared to session: Session is the best feeling one if you actually skate and the options are crazy. You can do first person filming, change your camera, theres a story, you can customise your own physics, add or take realism wherever you please. But if you just boot up the game and start playing since its not moon gravity and the controls are a little difficult to master theres actually a feeling of reward for landing nice tricks
What I like about both is that they feel different from each other with their pros and cons. Both are great

Play session everyday. As I am now. I'm in love with it. The only thing about XL I liked a lot was that you could catch your board one footed with the L3 or R3. Both are great. But I'm with session.
i think that session is more dynamic in terms of pishics it looks more perfect and skater xl is like, you can do a heelflip or a kickflip but doesn't feel smooth like in session

Session is snappier and feels a bit more difficult to me. Maybe because I played skater xl first. But I feel like session is much more enjoyable when you land that mean trick line you been grinding out for.

been skating 20+ years. some how pinch became a thing and i swear its the most trivial part of skateboarding.
In Session you can adjust how much pinch you want in grinds, where Skater XL doesn't have that option and probably never will lol.
So xl it’s like a arcade game and all tricks and grinds happen fast like tony hawk pro skate and session is a slow more based skateboarding game that actually requires skill and the ability to adjust your finger into different motions and not being a skate 3 player and using only the right joystick but you have to use not 1 but 2 joysticks to do tricks this took me awhile from migrating from skate 3 but it gets very easy
The way the skate stops moving after a trick before the feet are even on it in Skater XL says it all. I used to think Skater XL was better because it came out before and when session came out it looked weird, but now the tables have turned 180° and Session is the best skate sim out there, best physics all around
These videos made me curious so I downloaded session and it’s not even close. I played XL for a loooong time and when I started playing session I couldn’t believe it.

Both have pros and cons . I enjoy both games. . . Best part is the push speed on session if you mash the button . . . And on skater xl the lip tricks are flawless especialy woth the use if clicking sticks in to register the directing you come off a a grind . . Like i Said both are awsome games ..
Session, can jump on skater xl and land any trick on request but session makes you work for it just like real skateboarding 👌
Former skateboarder here, I've never tried SkaterXL but I have played Session (and other skateboarding games), for me Sessions is the most realistic skateboarding game I've ever played, and the realism makes it very difficult and challenging as well, but I like that, because you are forced to keep practicing in order to get better, and RL skateboarding is the same. I like the feel of the game, the physics (to some degree) and also the fact that it's really fun🤷♂️😅 although I got it on special, because honestly there's no way I'd pay full price for a game I wouldn't be playing that often and still doesn't satisfy me 100%, but as I said earlier, it's still the greatest skateboarding game I've ever played. I assume SkaterXL is really good as well but to me it doesn't look as realistic or look like it would feel realistic when pulling off tricks, it looks almost like Skate 3 but a little beefed up🤷♂️

Session is killing it
some animations really do look better in session like flips out of grinds and fliptricks in general but i don't like the turning and pop delay, still feeling wrong after hours of playing. i like both games and they have so much potential, but i play skater xl the most because of the flow and extra style you can put into.
try turning the grind mode in session to no release. it literally makes grinds look 100% different.
when you do a kick flip nose slide for example. you flip the nose of the board into the obstacle. really makes that delay start to vanish on a lot of tricks.
but SXL has the real delay issue. you can literally miss the ramp and still pop into tricks.
Session all the way , that being said skater XL is super sick and would be as good or better (in my opinion) if they added some frames in between making for less robotic movements 🤘
Session all day , cuz you can flip all your tricks differently depending on the angle you flip it more poked or rocket or leveled out give it’s more style
As someone who played XL first. Sessions is on a whole another level.
I'm going to be the odd one out for a lot of these sxl and session comparisons, I still think sxl looks better, it still feels like a realistic skating game even with vanilla stats, don't try to argue cause I know it's much more realistic with a heavy feel. But until they have the new animator at crea-ture give new animations to the game it's going to be sxl for me

Both the games animations just feel so floaty if that makes sense? That being said im extremely bias as i grew up playing skate 2 and 3 on the xbox 360 and your board is practically magnetic when it comes to grinds so im used to the snappy feel, Skater XL is my fav of the two here tho!

I've been thinking about picking one of these up for the switch, and it's kind of a hard pick. Session looks clean in terms of graphic but Skater XL looks like the machanics are smoother. Help?

It becomes much more satisfying if you stick with it though. I haven’t even needed mods for session and have everything set to manual. I couldn’t play Skater XL at this point solely because of the feet animations and being locked to a board. On Skater XL I think I turned literally everything off so it felt as free as possible with the board.

Skater xl is much easier to grasp. The mechanics are more fluid. You can actually do a line without your skater doing something weird. Although the mods help session out alot.

Skater xl looks more dirty but in a good way, almost like theirs human imperfection in the flip tricks. Session has better grinds
Session because the flow is better and the way the character lands on the board is just more realistic looking to me

I swore but xl for years because I refused to get used to session controls, once I changed them I’ll never touch xl again. Unless they give us another 6 variants of S.P.O.T 😂
Just bought session a week ago and XL wins by a LANDSLIDE
Session is more complete even compared to modded skater xl. Once they get the animations right and update to UE5 it’s game over
i think that skater xl feels better when you do the tricks and is more realistic but session is is more fun because you can do more things.
in my opinion the best skate game would be a session but with all the physics of skater XL

In session you can enable NPCs walking around I think...they get in the way of lines...
Skate xl controls are wonky and touchy, then I played session and the scheme felt just natural and made sense right away. Session is the game to play, still waiting for a animation/physics overhaul

They both have pros and cons. Session takes the cake for me though. If you can allow yourself time and actually adjust the advanced setting session is incredibly realistic. I've actually fooled a few of my friends from Sessions clips. They thought they were real. You really just have to tweak it and mess with the settings.

Originally session made me hella mad but honestly it grew on me once I actually took the time to learn how it works, Session is definitely better than skaterXl in my opinion.

SkaterXL, just so much more style, I can care less thats sessions trees look better, I care about the skating, even though the games been dead for a while, it's still fun
honestly I don't think it's really just the details of session it's the steeze and flow and different styles you can have.. xl everything looks the same and I feel a couple of lacking features now if we are talking modded xl I think they are dead even an I can even see what you mean for style... personally vanilla session has more style that's obviously my opinion and I'm also newer to session xl just needs updates🤧

Both are dope, but I personally prefer Session over Skater XL with how the physics and tricks flow smoothly. If they added grabs and worked on transitions more, it'll be top tier.

I give the win to Skater XL for the smoothness and cleanliness of tricks, but Session gets a win for riding and cruising around. BUT if both studios combined into one game, that would be THE best skateboarding game
