If Rodman was playing with them in his prime they wouldn't of been swept by San Antonio in the playoffs, no way! Kobe was also still a little raw, making some rookie mistakes and figuring it all out. By the next season he had finally come into his own as a super star... But a prime Rodman & Shaq duo would've been a frontcourt nightmare!!! Which is exactly what was needed to combat Duncan & Robinson.
Rodman was off the team well before the playoffs began, and Shaq had been dealing with a misdiagnosed abdominal strain throughout that whole season which is why he looked so unathletic compared to the year before or compared to the following MVP season. Against the Spurs the Lakers starter at PF was J.R. Reid. 🤦 If you look at that playoff run there's a reason why Duncan played better against the Lakers than against the Blazers or the Knicks, lol
