I'm picking up a 1982 EA81 Brat that has been sitting in a field in Northern California for 25 years. I dumped gas in the carburetor about 10 years ago and it still turns over and runs. Once I get it on the road maybe I will see you guys this summer :-)
I feel sorry for those that went through grinding, it's so wasted. Fortunately, I've got one now in truly mint condition and it will never see a grinding machine EVER! I really hope that RX coupe is still on the roads, only 2600 ever made!
Awesome video! How do you join one of these off road subaru wagon clubs? I hope to have my GL built by the end of next summer, love these cars can't get enough of 'em. i also live in Washington where were you guys wheelin'? Some of these clips looks like they're from jones creek area
LOL!!! That is sooo... Badd!! Ass!!! I Totally Love My Loyale Wagon 4wd and seeing these types of videos Trail Abrasions and all !! I got's some too.. LOL!!
I want to raise my 02 bugeye 6 inches and start a crew to do long distance trails like this for camping and hunting. Nothing beats a subaru! If it does then it costs to much and you wint beat the piss out of it like i do everyday l. If you guys have and tips on how to raise it thatd be great. I was thinking of taking the forester suspension and 4.44 trans for the extra torque. That ought to raise it 4inches.
+Thad Waites Nope Check out www.ultimatesubaru.org there is an offroad section that shows how to build them. Mine is all stock Subaru running gear.... Just lifted 8"
why is it that the coolest subaru crews i found in youtube never upgrade their ea82's to turbo. in not that hard to convert if find the original rhb5 and up pipes. hp is not so necessary but the torque you gain at 10 psi its great specially getting out of a mud puddle.
+luissubarurx Turbos in EA82 suck, they tend to blow the passenger side head gasket and there is a ton of extra hoses and lines on the intake..... just keep it simple last thing you want to do is an over haul on the hill..... :)
+Jeff Pearson they're not bad at all. I have both EA81's and EA82's with no emission controls sensors or lines and they're performing smoothly. I also made a custom ALS to my GL turbo wagon at 10 psi boost.
If I wanted to do some mild off roading just light mud and trails, what is a good year of Subaru to buy like these? And is the lift kits home made are can I get them somewhere.
My best bet there mzondi1970 is between a 1983 and a 91-2 subie. They are cheap, easy to work on and you don't have to be afraid of beating them up a little bit. As far as the lift kits go, a lot of people do it themselves for the older models. But i am sure you can find kits somewhere..

what lifts do all these have?
probably customs. but im sure they all involve forester (1st gen) struts and shocks, body lift for few inches.

What type of vehicle was at 0:16 and are they 4 wheel drive
they are AWD with low range. im not sure for particular vehicle, but i'd try to search around 1st gen legacy/leone.
