Hi Anna,
1. I had few shares of Reliance Retail at an average price of 4200. Recently saw the news of those shares buyback by reducing Reliance Retail's equity at around 1300. What does this mean and is there any timeline for that buyback ?
2. This buyback will cause significant loss to me. As the company will buy all shares , In order to square off loss, is it advisable to downward average now by buying reliance retail shares in bulk (now available at buyback price) so that average price comes to buyback price. Then there will be no loss and no gain as the company will definitely buy all shares.
Can I go ahead like this or is there something missing ?
Kindly advise. Pls pick the question.
Dont buy any shares as there wont be any gain on doing this transaction. lets say you have one share @ 4200 and now you are buying one share@1300. then you have 2 shares at an average price of 2750. in buyback, you will be able to sell these 2 shares @ 1300 resulting a net loss of 2900 which is your current loss.
