  • The first Wreck It Ralph was a fun surprise full of humor and heart. Ralph Breaks the Internet is... not that. It's a lot more like The Emoji movie. And full of sins.
Next week: Sins of two movies that have one word titles starting with D.
Remember, no movie is without sin! Which movie's sins should we expose next?!

If they made Ralph as a overprotective father or something instead of a creepy obsessive dude who can’t stand the thought of Vanellope leaving for two seconds, then I think the movie would have played out better. I get that Ralph is worried about his first real friend abandoning him, other than Felix, but like he literally DESTROYED the internet out of his fear that she would leave him for a girl from a online racing game. The creators have just completely gave up when they realized whatever they make would sell anyway.

I literally feel like this movie’s plot was meant to be some kind of standalone movie (like Disney wanted to try to make a “better” Emoji movie but all about what they own), and they just decided to put it in the Ralph sequel for some reason. I mean, I was looking forward to their original planned sequel about how it would feature console gaming (and more video games in general) and more video game cameos (like Lara Croft or Sora, or hell, even Mario). Ralph wanted to be a hero to get friends and not be alone. The first movie was alright. Each had issues to overcome. Second one made me hate Vanellope. Blames Ralph for the virus yes it's wrong BUT it was her fault for going Turbo and not even meeting him like she said she was. Makes him wait and finds out what she felt about him by her talking to a stranger that she just met. TELLS her about stuff she didn't even need to know. Turbo herself to another game when she doesn't realise she is the main person the players plays and also she was on the side of the game. Yep, the second movie was just another crap sequel like most sequels and also ended up making us hate the movie. The only reason I like it is the princesses and the Disney area with all the characters like star wars and stuff. Elsewhere nope. Btw I love how Ralph makes himself a doofus for money likes and Vanellope doesn't even do anything, doesn't even care he got the wheel.

      @MaJoDo Před 5 lety +112

@Elisa Castro ... Still, not game breaking. If you remember how the Racer roster is set up in the first Wreck it Ralph movie, Vanellope von Schweetz was not a playable racer because she could not win a certain race. But even now that she knows she is princess of Sugar Rush, there is no guarantee she is on the roster everyday, since the roster is determined by that nightly race before the arcade opens. Vanellope is only 1 of the 16 racers that might be featured on a 9 choice selection screen. If she happens to get 10th place or worse, then she actually would be unplayable for the entire day, and would certainly have an opportunity to chill in Slaughter Race.

Random thing I noticed was that in the first movie, Vanellope’s glitches really only happened whenever her current emotion changed. Whenever she was suddenly met with some bad news her glitching would become a tiny bit more frequent as she became confused, angry, sad, etc. all in a single second of processing that news. That is what I’m guessing this movie was doing as she glitched a noticeable lot at that one part, being scared or anxious is sometimes caused by waves of different emotions coming in all at once; so her glitching a bunch more when she’s worried actually makes a lot of sense.

    • @karma4859

Honestly I have a guess as to why going "Turbo" isn't actually going "Turbo" on the internet.
So, going turbo was defined as leaving your *arcade* game and going to a different one. That causes confusion from the people who play the arcade game, as they see another arcade game inside the wrong one, causing the game to shut down. Vanellope is in an arcade game, and goes to an internet game. There is no confusion that might cause the game to shut down here because Vanellope is an arcade game, and even if the arcade players did see her in the dangerous game, they could just think it was some sort of promotion for the arcade, and not a glitch like in the previous movie.

It suddenly doesn't become $35,000. It will become 5-10 over the winning bid's MAX bid (and if it was 40, then the new bid is 45.) The only way it could actually drive up that high would be to have a bid war.

That was kinda the main premise. Ralph got too obsessive about being friends with someone and couldn’t give them the space they needed to be themselves. By the end, Ralph realizes the error of his ways and gives his friend that space, and both characters grow as a result. The important premise, as a kids movie, is that having friends grow up in a different way than you do and wanting different things from you isn’t a bad thing.

There's so many problems with this movie from the title to the characters to the story but honestly my main problem is that fact the message doesn't fit within the parameters of this universe.
That message being 'you can't force your ideals on yours friends, sometimes you have to let them leave to let them grow and if your friendship is strong enough then it will survive' and the main problem with this is that it directly conflicts with the original message of the first film which if you remember is about going 'Turbo' which is essentially what Vannellope is doing here. She's leaving her game for a more popular game because she's bored which is literally what Turbo did which then leaves her game without its main racer and its ruler so Sugar Rush is probably going to be thrown out by the end of the week.
My second problem is what I'm going to call the real world implications. Let's be honest here Sugar Rush and Slaughter Race probably aren't affiliated in anyway in the real world meaning that the company that owns Slaughter Race (let's just call it SL Race) if committing some serious copy-write infringement on the company that owns SU Race and meaning a giant legal battle is in the future here which would probably end up in the owners of SL Race deciding Vannellope isn't worth the hassle (and more likely cost) and deciding to delete her code from the game which would kill her forever, which means both SU Race and Vannellope are gone forever.

@@ceiranallen-wright6310 I tried thinking that way, but it’s not a good standalone film either. Too many things don’t make sense on their own without some of the context from the first movie - particularly Ralph & Velenope’s friendship. The two being outcasts from their respective games was the core of their bond from the last film; both are well-liked now by the rest of the arcade in the second movie. Ralph going from “concerned friend helping out his best friend with her depression” to “clingy weirdo who doesn’t want ‘his’ girl hanging with anyone else” is beyond creepy even though the movie never really codes his feelings towards Velenope as romantic or fatherly. Venelope is a bored Disney princess looking for more out of her life-a trope that the film has her make fun of, then has her follow to a fault...and becomes a kid growing too big for her small town. She never cares that she broke her own game & dismisses her actions of abandoning them because of events misremembered from the first movie. It’s hard to see why people would ever have liked these two in this movie, were it not for a previous film that endeared Ralph & Velenope to folks in the first place.

I'm 100% sure that an arcade game with flashing lights, sounds, screen and a variety of arcade machine features will most definitely use more than 2-3 cents an hour, even if it's only plugged in like 12 hours a day at max, that's definitely using more than that much electricity.

and the reason there was a deleted scene from the trailer is because the movie is still being edited. So they'll delete some scenes or just replace it.

Yeah, that's the thing about Ralph Breaks the Internet! It may have serious problems that make it feel like (ESPECIALLY) The Emoji Movie all over again (but less cringey) and character bastardization, but besides Slaughter Race making people so happy (to the point where they would seriously wanna dance to it), its animation admittedly has the charm of its predecessor because of the video game characters moving in different styles with little-to-no limits, not to mention that it has the same beautifully recent-looking rendering except its backgrounds are not as inspired albeit immersive enough.

I found both Ralph and Vanellope unlikeable in this film. They had a few moments, but they weren't the characters I fell in love with in the first film.
To be honest, I was more interested to see the Felix x Calhoun being parents part. I need a short of that.

Brixie Ann I’m the opposite lol. They were too bland with little personality in the first one compared to the sequel. They were likeable at best, but that’s honestly being generous. I’d sooner call them tolerable. They came to life and were pretty interesting in Ralph Breaks the Internet, though.

@Paige Harris Tbf, the directors confirmed they had a whole subplot written out that had to be discarded for time. The movie's already pretty long as is. Though I still wished that they had fit something in.

They actually explain in Shank's title card that she has a superhuman speed as a skill so I think it doesn't matter what car she drives, her abilities allow her to be faster than others so no one (players or Vanellope and Ralph) so you need to use strategy to get her car and win the game
