I was so sad when I learned of her passing. I saw her live in 2013 and she was having trouble walking and was in discomfort, but didn't let it stop her from delivering a stellar performance.
I work in NYC as driver for a private transportation company that operates a fleet of Wheelchair Accessible Dodge Grand Caravans for (Uber). I picked up a customer on a rainy night in Manhattan in 2019 and it was the legendary Jessye Norman! She was so humble and kind. We talked, we laughed and she encouraged me so much! God bless her soul 🙏! Eventhough we only met that one rainy night in Manhattan, I felt like she was a friend. She was a true gift!
Glorious voice that endured till the end! Thanks to Ms Norman’s recordings her voice, her talent and her life’s work will live eternally! Thank The heavens for Ms Norman!

lalagonegaga I thought ms Norman was about to get up and walk . She was giving herself a whole new life with that one. I use to sing that one as a child with my youth choir and that one always got the people on their feet. She took it to the heavens . Yass🙌🏽🙏👏.

Amazing how intact her voice remained, even at that age, and from a wheelchair! I do wonder if she and the pianist intended the tempo to be that fast... it seemed as if they were both at times nudging each other along at an increasingly quick pace. Still thrilling, however... and the acoustics in that space sounded great.
