The friendship with black in the second game made a tear roll out of the corner of my eye

The blue / purple , red / black coalition was a fair 2v2 battle. What a waste purple chicken out, and his passivity made blue eventually give up.

Some great games... made possible by experienced players who didn't delay the game by keeping their troops on their capitals forcing you to slowly card block them.

I don’t play many Capital games. What is the secret to choosing a good capital?

A good capital spot (playing with progressive cards) is usually a border territory which is hard to card block.
A good capital spot example - Vienna, it connects to 6 different territories, it's a border for Dinaric Alps, it connects to Germany which is usually used by a lot of players for capturing territories once of the most holds are captured, then it's the centre of the map, a lot of players will go through the centre of the map unleashing your capital.
A bad capital example - Savastopol, it only connects to one other territory meaning once you capture it - your capital becomes blocked, then that connecting territory only connects to 3 other territories meaning that another player could card block by only setting up 3 different armies on those territories if you got wiped out from anywhere else.
Good capitals could also be 1-border territories, but also it depends on the place of the map and the stage of the game. To illustrate that, 1-border Spain with a blizzard on Andalusia and a capital on Gascony could be a very good capital in the beginning of the game to help you snowball the game or at least make yourself a stronger position, however, in the endgame that would be very easy to cardblock that capital and that +4 troop bonus wouldn't mean much.
If you got any follow up questions - feel free to ask 👍

Thanks for the advice! I do know that putting a capital in a pocket is bad because someone could capital in front of you and block as you mentioned. I’ll try this strategy out of some of the maps I have and see how it goes.
