Planner Dilemma - Pocket, Passport, Personal Rings?!

- Just as this title says, been having some issues with feeling “at home” in a planner. I’m sure some of you can relate to this. Sometimes certain planners won’t work out because it’s not the right moment to use a certain planner. But other times, the stars align and something just clicks. I may not have mentioned it in the video but writing down notes that I can throw away in a non-bounded notebook sounds quite appealing at the moment. Ironically, the last time I was in rings this was the exact problem I had. I needed to archive the ringed pages and had issues with it feeling very non-permanent. Funny that for my current planning mood, this is exactly what I needed - the freedom of a non-bounded spine. A page where I can cross out things, circle, highlight, and then toss away. My ring bound planner journey 2.0 has just begun and I am excited!

I'm watching many CZcams videos about Filofax because I ordered my first one 2 days ago and went for a brown Holborn personal, which is my color.
It will take a while to arrive, but I'm so excited because I have been bored with my Hobonichi weeks which I have been using for a few years, sadly I haven't used it for most of this year.
I currently use my Traveler's notebook vertical planner and my passport size and I use both for memory-keeping purposes and I'm in love with them and I intend to keep using them like that for next year, so as you can see I really need a real planner that I can organize my own way for personal and work matter without having to worry about memory keeping or archiving the refills and rearrange them every time something doesn't work.

Oh, you have echoed my thoughts. I love my travelers notebooks and find them perfect for journaling and memory keeping. Bound notebooks are perfect in my TN. For planning, I am really enjoying the versatility of the rings. I do understand wanting to change it up especially at the half-year. mark. I like to change it up to keep things fun and fresh every once in a while. I hope you get your Filofax soon!! I actually have another ring planner on it's way to me! Will share in the coming weeks :)

Your ew Filofax looks lovely, I have not seen that one before. Filofax’s cotton cream inserts are fountain pen friendly. There seems to be a trend on CZcams of moving back to ring binders. I like to use both. Thanks for sharing another really enjoyable video 💕
There definitely seems to be a trend in recent months - however I do not see it becoming the norm anytime soon. - at least within our community. By far bound notebooks are still my primary notebooks when it comes to journaling and memory keeping. I do like the fact that Filofax has fountain pen friendly inserts! :)
I completely understand the feeling of a planner dilemma. You want the system to work for you and I hope the rings work out. I also had a plotter, but the rings gave me so much anxiety so I ended up selling it. And I'm using a deconstructed Filofax as my journal, still loving it.
Oh! I had no idea you sold yours - sorry to hear that it didn’t work out. I sold my first plotter because I couldn’t jive with the shrink leather. So far, I am happy with rings but I do have thoughts about my Filofax…
I understand the dilemma! I’m in personal rings and have found so much planner peace. I asked myself what is it about rings? I realized that I’ve been trying so hard to fit my life into other people’s bound planners layouts instead of making it completely mine.

Yes, that would be called a planner dilemma, when we don't know. I can confirm that so far the rings are going pretty well for me :) Sometimes I like to switch it up to keep things interesting. Thanks for watching!
That 2023 insert set looks like the one that came with my Norfolk personal. The 2024 set looks like the one that came with my Saffiano Fawn Compact as well!
