If I recall, Sonic never knew about Mimic unless he was told about him by someone during some downtime. What a way for Mimic to introduce himself; coming from the fog and retreating before Sonic can act.
Tangle told him about Mimic all the way back in issue 16.

Well, he didn't ever meet him directly in the field before, but I believe Tails had him imprisoned at some point.
Whether he saw Mimic's true form and voice well enough to recognize it during a dense fog, though? I don't recall.
@MasterMygrane Well, remember their were other pressing concerns after tangle and whisper's little adventure like the metal virus. Honestly, I don't think their were very many opportunities to tell sonic about mimic plus mimic was sent to prison during the start of the metal virus.

@@gearthehuman2115 If Sonic is fine with being the slayer of kings, then being disloyal to the Restoration shouldn’t impact him that much. Especially if his closest friends, Tails and Amy, already know.
I'm liking how this arc is developing and I'm looking forward to seeing the fall of Mimic because one day Duo's disguise will fall at the worst moment for him and the pieces have already started to move on the board, in fact I liked the detail of Lanolin relieving her frustration by punching the sandbag, it's nothing special but it shows a human side as each one deals with momentary anger and seeing Surge happy and Kit wanting to protect her happiness is so good and radiant and Conductor's wife showed up with their daughter! and their daughter is so cute and adorable! I loved this moment, I'm also looking forward to seeing Clutch's fall and I'm curious how Sonic will deal with it from now on

@@nightcoreakane2410 yes, I first assumed it would be a daughter as we don't know the age of the Conductor and his wife but even if the little girl is their granddaughter she is still very cute and seeing her interacting with Surge and putting a smile on the tenrec's face made me smile too

There is so much building up! Now the Babylon Rogues, Tangle, Whisper, Surge, and Kit all know Sonic is the Phantom Rider. But they also realize there’s more going on than just this competition, there’s a reason Sonic would do this. Tangle and Whisper found evidence of two Riders, the Rogues realize there’s some crook higher up in Clean Sweep, and Surge and Kit actually want to try to be the heroes people believe them to be. Like I said before, this arc will be the make or break for the imposter duo. And I love how unhinged Clutch gets when he finds out Sonic is the Phantom Rider! I am looking forward to what happens next!
Clutch and Mimic are now getting attacked from 6 sides, each with similar and/or different reasons:
1-Team Sonic, for obvious reasons
2-Jewel, she's being suspicious of Duo
3-Team Chaotix, they're suspecting Clutch ever since issue 65, though they yet to appear
4-Tangle and Whisper, they have video proof that tells them that there are two phantom riders
5-Babylon Rouges, they know Sonic too well but are just doing it for the glory
6-Surge and Kit, so they can be heroes

This kinda reminds me so much of Scream and Killer Frequency, where there were two versions of the killer, their aliases worn by two different people.
@@charlottea.cavatica1696 I'm still believing there may have been a benefactor to Clutch's plans, and thus the TRUE mastermind. I would say Eggman, but that's WAY too obvious. I'd go for Black Doom, since he's coming back in SonicxShadow generations and out of personal preference; plus, since Fang the Hunter miniseries is a nod to his return in sonic superstars, then perhaps they'd do a similar thing with Doom since sonicxshadow generation comes out in october, which is during the time that the cleensweepstakes arc is ongoing.
or at the very least Black Doom would return in the next saga of IDW

Surge and kit finally wanting to be heroes is adorable and also the conductor and his wife has a kid is cute
I can easily see Shadow becoming a reluctant mentor and training the two. Mentally, and physically. He’s the best candidate to help the pair rebuild their lives, and rediscover their past (if they want to). Shadow is probably the only one that knows what Surge and Kit are going through. And probably the best one to help them move past that trauma with a therapeutic training montage. And drama. Lots of angsty, heart wrenching drama.

1. Tangle and Whisper caring for each other
2. Amy and tails are starting to unravel Cluth’s plans
3. Surge and Kit are starting to enjoy being heroes and want to keep doing it.
Things that made me mad in this issue:
1. Mimic still hasn’t been revealed to the public
2. The Babylon rouges being jerks

Its neat that we are setting the stage for many angles to converge in this story, not to mention the Babylon Rogues figuring the plot of Sonic because they know him better than most of the involved folks on the story, really will be neat seeing their PoV in the final push.
Also im really concerned on how the writing is treating Lanolin, it was clear from early on that she is a novice leader but her team not only have a traitor no one can notice and that is just messing with her insecurities but the ones that shold be on her side just dont trust her AT ALL, first Whisper hiding her suspicions on Mimic, resulting on Silver being framed by that cephalopod, and now Tangle not believing that her would understand that something is going on behind curtains, a lot say that she is a bad leader but all I see is someone normal in the position of being the referee of a lot of dare devils with a lot of experience while NO ONE is on her side! Really hope she get her own chance or arc to bond with her team to stop being a stanger to them, because that's how Tangle and Whisper see her.

Hey! SHE shoved THEM away! NOT the other way around! If your definition of a normal person is someone who has neither a heart NOR a brain, then that's just sad!
@@videogollumer She never did that? the one instance close to it was when Whisper dragged Silver to her paranoia without acting like a team (Need I remind you that she even left Tangle out of it? reason why she also sided with Lanolin because her actions were violent without an explanation from their PoV? Not to mention that Mimic tricked EVERYONE involved? Not just the sheep?). The best argument you can produce from her is that she is abrasive and rude in her position as leader, and that doesn’t mean she doesn’t care, quite the opposite considering she has a role of keeping an eye on a crew and not only she has to be serious so everything goes as best as possible, or they die, which almost happened in their first field mission!
in other news, you can’t really blame her for not figuring out the whole picture of this arc: The Babylon Rogues Know Sonic beyond being just a wild adventurer, they know Sonic isn’t twisting his morals, so they figure "If Sonic is against them, then they are the bad guys", meanwhile Tangle and Whisper have recorded evidence that show something is opposing Sonic, which is already a GIGANTIC red flag! both groups have information She doesn’t have access to because one is a different crew and the other CHOSE to hide information from their LEADER... AGAIN!
Do i think she is flawless? Of course not, her abrasive attitude comes from a misplaced need to keep an order and that will not change until she has a chance to truly bond with her team like Tangle and Whisper did and, so far, she was denied that chance in a storytelling perspective that i blame the writers for.

Also, Lanolin didn't care that Sonic, Tails, and Amy might have gotten hurt during the qualifying rounds; she just went straight to scorning and belittling them! Furthermore, it was Lanolin who almost got a bunch of innocent people killed last issue! Face it! Lanolin's a mindless, hateful brute! All she thinks there is to leadership is kicking people to the ground and shouting "SUBMIT!".
Well, maybe if she wasn't even more unlikable than today's Shadow (yeah, I was shocked, too), I would have felt sorry for her.

This is getting interesting!!! I wish that Sonic Team would make a fourth Sonic Riders game.
Man, the other characters really know Sonic well. Allies, rivals, they know that Sonic doesn’t just pull something like this without a good reason. Though other characters still in the dark might not be so forgiving and understanding. And I’m a bit surprised with Surge and Kit. But how can they try to be real heroes if they’re still programmed to hate Sonic and Tails with a passion? Will Sonic and Tails eventually have an adventure where they try to uncover who Surge and Kit were? And what is Clean Sweep’s ultimate plan with the race? They certainly can’t afford to have Sonic involved and they need this alliance with the Restoration. Does Clutch want to tear the Restoration apart so that the restoration of a peaceful society is stopped and he can remain in business collecting weaponry and selling it to people?
Except for Sergeant Haggis Bags, of course.

I mean Mimic got Whisper to attack Surge after all and Surge wasn't aware of what Mimic was doing.
I didnt even realize mimic’s mistake in the scuffle. That was clever of whisper turning on her mask recording. It was also smart of everyone besides Lanolin to understand sonic’s intention rather than adding more complications to the matter. Notably the babylon rouges and Surge & Kit
1. Love the new editing style for these comic videos.
2. This is the first time Sonic and Mimic meet face-to-face. Can’t wait to see his reaction when Tangle and Whisper explain what he’s like and what he did.
3. Mimic is trying to get into Lanolin’s head; warp her thinking.
4. I was not expecting the Rouges, Imposter Duo, Tangle And Whisper seeing Sonic as the Phantom Rider, but it’s these kinds of surprises that make the story good.
5. I’m glad Tangle and Whisper haven’t told anyone about Sonic yet, and that they want to figure out the Phantom Rider mess together.
6. Whisper was ready to kill Surge when she made that threat, and I’m all for it.
7. With #75 being a big issue like #50, I’m expecting something BIG. I have three guesses:
a) another major character death, like Starline
b) Mimic’s Duo facade gets revealed to the good guys
c) Whisper learns Sonic received help from Eggman and decides to leave him and friends for good, including Tangle 🥺
If it is a death of a major character, it would probably be either Clutch or Mimic, or heck it could even be both of them.

Phantom Rider unmasked, framed & exposed as the speedy blue blur, Sonic, courtesy of Mimic. Mimic masqueraded as the imposter phantom rider with orange sunglasses, black scarf & same extreme gear Duo/Mimic rode. Mimic masqueraded as Surge as well.
Sonic’s secret identity got usurped by Mimic. This was all Mimic’s doing. Everyone in disarray what they saw. Phantom Rider was the alter ego of Sonic, but his secret identity got exposed by Mimic. Jet & Surge next are pursuing Sonic or Phantom Rider in 72. Clutch, Surge & Kit set traps for the Phantom Rider in 73. Race to the finish in 74 where everyone is trying to discover the Phantom Rider’s secret identity, Sonic & crew have to stop Clutch & Clean Sweep Inc. All leads up to milestone 75 double length. 😱😱😱😱😱😮😮😮😮😮😮😮

Wow😮. This comic is kind of good. And I hope the next one is where Mimic gets busted, and Silver is welcomed back to the new Diamond Cutters. I'm pretty sure Sonic is undercover, I mean, why else would he wear that gear? The suit, I mean, not the Extreme Gear. Being undercover isn't a walk in the park. You can't risk blowing your cover doing something that makes you suspicious, so you have to be careful when you do that so you don't get any suspicion on you. They don't call it being undercover for a reason😯.

Bro, my heart was so fast that I needed to take deep breaths because of how excited I was just to see the comic.
This arc is hands down my favorite out of the other arcs so far!
(At 3:39) for someone who's a "master of disguise" you're getting sloppy, Mimic.
For example: 1st, His choice of words might be obvious to give away his position.
2nd, Sonic's lenses are red while Minic's lenses are orange.
Tch! The only thing Mimic is a master at is being a beyond spineless coward!
I wonder how much the Rogues will lost it when they find out the head of Clean Sweep Inc is their client Clutch, who hired them to steal the echidna relics, only for them to learn they were only a distraction? 🤣

I just wish they talk to Lanolin about this but with “Duo” feeding her insecurities it’s a problem. I just can’t wait to see her use all that rage on Mimic and everyone make fried calamari.

Even though everyone thinks that Surge and Kit are going to redeem themselves, I still feel like it will take kinger for Kit. He still has darkness, and he might still try to kill Sonic and Tails so that they don't steal Surge's spotlight. I dunno, that's just me. It would be interesting if that's the only time he blatantly disobeys Surge.

Sonic identity is out…that’s probably not good, especially now that Clutch knows who he is.
The Babylon Rogues are NOT happy that Sonic is still in the fray. Especially Jet, since his glory was taken by Surge and Kit! Yikes!
Speaking of which, looks like Surge and Kit’s redemption arc hasn’t quite begun, seeing that they still challenged Tangle and Whisper, but Kit does want to see the world view them as heroes…so maybe there’s hope
And oh boy…Lano-lame. I’ll admit, seeing her get knocked the heck out by Mimic was funny and cathartic, but now that Mimic is getting into her head that Whisper and Tangle are hiding something, she’ll probably be even more overzealous, reckless and aggressive. Which means she’s going to do more stupid things. Typical for the bitch in sheep’s clothing.
But on the bright side, Whisper and Tangle won’t tattle on Sonic and they even have some more evidence that could expose Mimic! That octopus imposter’s days are numbered…

Poor Sonic tho, he must have been thought to be a traitor by everyone especially Lanolin, if she finds out that Sonic is Phantom Rider, she'll started to be like Starline.
And the worst part of it, this is the second time his reputation got ruined by the cautious type enemies, the first one is by Starline, by turning Eggman back to his old self, which makes him being accused of triggers the Zombot apocalypse (though it is kinda his fault for keeping Eggman alive unpunished, but Starline is the one who started the process).
And seeing Clutch's reaction, it seems like no more mr. nice guy from him, he started to get serious now.
And it's kinda ironic of how Starline trying to replace Sonic by using Surge and Kit, but it ended up taking his life, while Clutch is successfully in doing so.
Nope! It was Metal Sonic who brought Eggman back, and it was Sonic who had Metal Sonic revived. Sonic ruined his OWN reputation that time, and he redeemed himself by tossing that good for nothing scrap bucket into Omega's line of fire, and leaving Eggman to Shadow's wrath!

you know the one thing that got me laughing in this issues is Lanolin continuing from last issue catching lots of Ls and karma at the same time for being a terrible leader to the Neo Diamond Cutters and man once she found out the new guy whom she's been defending and protecting from everyone accusing him and whom she puts a lot of trust in him repay with the reveal that he's a grown ahh octopus and a child killer and everybody was right the whole time🙂😆

Hm, as this Arc continues to go on, the more a feel like that it really might be THE Arc that the Previous Arc lead up to, ‘cause it really does seem like that this will be the Arc that will decide whether or not Clutch’s Scheme will succeed, basically might be the Final Arc of the Clean Sweep Saga,

I can easily see Shadow becoming a reluctant mentor and training the two. Mentally, and physically. He’s the best candidate to help the Surge and Kit rebuild their lives, and rediscover their past (if they want to). Shadow is probably the only one that knows what Surge and Kit are going through. And probably the best one to help them move past that trauma with a therapeutic training montage. And drama. Lots of angsty, heart wrenching drama.

Good thing Amy was there with Belle since she knows about Clutch compared to Tails and Belle. Clutch is screwing himself over *REALLY* fast due to his and Mimic's recklessness. Even Mimic is freaked out by Clutch losing his temper/composer and that's saying something. Wonder if he'll be scared of him more than Eggman (assuming Mimic survives this story arc considering Whisper's grudge and Surge's possible Heel-Face Turn).
Also... is it really bad for Surge and Kit to turn over a possible new leaf? They don't need to be straight up heroes, but it wouldn't be bad for them to be Anti-Heroes/Anti-Villains. I actually like this for them. Granted, Starline wanted them to be heroes, but in his own twisted vision to control the world. What they experienced is the real deal.
Man... I hope when Clutch is brought down, that Lanolin doesn't get so frustrated or angry too much with Sonic, Tails and Amy when this is over. She means well, but she can't be so stubborn, especially when she takes on much by herself.
Pfft! Lanolin will have no reason to be angry with anyone but herself in the end.
@@videogollumer I feel she's already mad at herself. She realized she nearly caused casualties trying to catch the Phantom Rider and she pretty much got her butt whooped by the fake Phantom Rider, hence why she was taking her anger out on the punching bag.
Plus, the reason she joined the Restoration was because she was inspired by Sonic, so if she found out, that would just break her faith in Sonic as she doesn't know him too well compared to Tangle and Whisper who got to know him personally as Lanolin only worked with Sonic on one mission so far.
While Tangle and Team Babylon were shaken up by seeing Sonic as the Phantom Rider, they know he wouldn't do that for no reason. (Plus, I know Jet will want payback on Clutch for deceiving him)
Lanolin is a good person, but she's just stubborn and strict. I know once Clutch is exposed, she'll go after him, but depending on how it goes, she might lose faith in Sonic or she'll leave to reflect on herself. She just needs to loosen up because she is aware of how bossy she can be.

I don't know if anyone noticed this small details but Mimic did get spooked when he unmasked Phantom Rider (aka Sonic). The texture of that robotic is similar to Mimic the Octopus. But he must be very certain that Eggman won't be teaming up with Sonic to not tell Clutch about this.
Of course he's spooked! He KNOWS Sonic is the most renowned crime fighter on the planet; and this isn't the first time that Creeptopus stole Sonic's identity. He's scared of what Sonic might do to him if he finds out what he's done!

I'm not sure how to feel about this issue. I was hoping Sonic's identity would still be hidden at least for 1 more issue but the fact that he's unmasked so early on kinda takes away some of the tension.
It's great that the Babylon Rogues figured everything out so quickly, given their history with Sonic but it still seems a bit convenient.
Surge and Kit just accepting being heroes and not being more angry with Sonic also feels a bit out of left field (maybe she's getting a bit soft due to being more accepted at the restoration?). Surge seemed to care a lot about getting info on her past but now she's ready to throw that away which was her whole reason to join Clutch in the first place.
And why keep Surge and Kit in the dark about all this in the first place?
(Maybe I forgot something that was explained in a previous issue?)
Really the only people not in the know about Sonic are the racing viewers (which serve no real insight or importance) and Lanolin (which is probably a good thing cause I don't know how the writers would have her react to all this)
TLDR; This issue doesn't really add much. And what it DOES add is something that just cuts the tension and gets rid of some steaks a bit*TOO* conveniently.

Y'know? I actually really like how Amy freeing Belle and Tails reattaching her hand is shown through a quick sequence of wordless panels. It puts an emphasis on Tails and Amy's adorable sense of compassion, which is one the reasons why they're my two favorite Sonic characters, with Sonic himself being a close third.
@@videogollumer Actions speak louder than words and the Sonic series knows this pretty well. (If the Unleashed opening, S3&K, and the Titan fights are anything to go off of.) I haven’t seen many panels without word bubbles in this particular comic run, but when it hits, it hits.

@@hydrocityshark Well, for Tails, it's the same reasons that anyone likes him. Primarily because he has probably the strongest moral compass of any Sonic character. He has the most even balance of valor and childlike innocence.
For Amy, it's just about everything OUTSIDE of her crush on Sonic. Don't get me wrong; it's an essential part of her character; but even some people who don't like Sonamy know their's more to her than just that!
Plus, this is kinda meta, but I know what it's like to be made out to be the bad guy for having anger issues; it's not pleasant. Amy may have flown of the handle from time to time, but she has a bubbly side too; and I like it when the writers focus her anger in a positive way.
Also, they have similar personalities: compassion; a desire to prove themselves; a common devotion to Sonic like no other character. They have enough in common in terms of ideals to be kindred spirits. They may not be as affectionate toward each other as they are toward Sonic; but when they work together, they just feel so in sync a good portion of the time. It's as if they were friends before they met Sonic.

@@hydrocityshark When I said meta, I was referring to the fact that Amy was hated for her anger issues BY FANS rather than by other characters. Seriously, when I first saw the hate for her on the internet, I was appalled! I particularly hate fan works depicting Sonic punching her in the face, shooting her with a gun, and shouting "I HATE YOU!" at her! That's just misrepresentation of Sonic!
I liked what you used to do more than the enlarged speech bubbles thing, I feel like it’s distracting and kinda forced me to read at the pace of the speech bubbles. I pretty much just paused it before they got bigger and just read it normally and skipped the time it takes to cycle through all the speech bubbles.
Plus the zoom in on the last issues allowed me to enjoy the art a lot more while the bubbles cover it.
