Maybe he likes it because he learns english in the same time ? As a french myself, i wonder all the time, why english chateau (or convent) owners do english spoken videos and how they find english craftmen in France (like Simon and Nick), because i never met english people in my region, and no english craftmen at all. But anyway, the advantage for me is that i learn english watching those videos. So the advantage for Yannis is maybe that he can improve his english as well.
Totally agree about Simon being an excellent teacher in the way he explains things- calm, clear and direct. He should consider taking on two or three apprentices like Yannis who are interested in learning building skills and teach them as he rebuilds his own house as well as works on Billy's place.
Love the energy and dedication from Yannis. He is so confident and willing to work on the project. He’s becoming skilled in a trade and you can just see his confidence. I also love Simon’s dog!
I’m a 73 year old grandma and I want to help! Hubby and I renovated 3 old philadelphia area homes for our kids with all the quirks that these old houses possess. He was a Union carpenter and he said I was the best cleaner upper he’s ever had on a job.
Still amazed how much younger beard less Billy looks. More like Billy the kid, than Billy the VIII. Yannis is so sweet. Such a good natured apprentice who does not mind doing even the smallest of tasks. He will become a craftsman one day, watch this space. If you're going to cut that slab, you should put it in the center and fill in on each side with cobbles or other pieces of granite. It will look better than filling in on one side.

Wow, that's an ancient way they used to split stone! I've done it on actual stone using, depending on where you come from, plugs and feathers or feathers and wedges. It's incredibly easy!

Then again it could just be that everything is actually really heavy lol Here you are again, moving more stone like it weighs nothing. Those windows must have been really, really heavy and you carried them alone. I'm impressed. My back hurts watching you all working. Billy & crew need a spa day - deep tissue back massage.
