    I just went from a Sports bike to a Cruiser today. I found a 2011 VStar 650 with 1300 miles. Very low miles. Just like new. Definitely different but more comfortable to travel on. Cool Video.

      Nice man! 1300 is definitely low miles for a 9 year old bike 👍 There are also more options for customizing the handlebars according to your preference and style!

    Great review ... I'm sport bike background, and just bought this for my wife. It is a fun ride. It came with vance hines pipes, jetted, airbox mod, etc. and it is actually decently quick. But, yeah, 65 mph with no screen pulls you back, especially when it already has a layed back seat. It came with a mustang seat, which I guess is nice too. And, saddle bags - same as you I was going to take them off, and then went to the post office and had a package, and grocery store, and could stick stuff in there. They seem dumb, but actually are practical. I remember riding with a heavy backpack sometimes on my liter bike. Yeah, it is ok, but kind of sucks!

    Great video man. I agree, learning all types makes for a better rider. I too was a sports bikes only guy, with a little dual sport in there too. Then I stopped riding when I had kids to be more responsible. Some years later I picked up my VStar 650 and I love it. It’s a good compromise, I did wind up getting a ZZR600 a few years after that. They both serve a purpose. I feel I have extra riding skills/styles I can use on both bikes. Eventually I’ll wind up with a big bagger that’ll serve both purposes.

    Nice video!
    I’m actually thinking about downsizing from my 1600cc Yamaha Roadstar to a 650cc Vstar. The wife doesn’t like to ride with me and I don’t go on very far rides anymore 🤷🏻‍♂️ And the lighter weight, cheaper maintenance and easier handling just seems like a no brainer to me. I still have my R3 to zip around also. Cheers 🍻 😎

      Yeah the smaller bike is more nimble and fun for both short and long rides. Perfect for a solo trip

    With a bad back just get a regular bike. Excpecially if you are tall. Sport bike and your arms hurt, cruiser and your back hurts. I have had Suzuki gsx 750 inazuma now for 12 years and done 70k miles on it. Love it. Nothing hurts after a long ride. I have had lots of different bikes. I have honda z50j now too. Funny little bugger. You can sit for hours comfortably on that little thing. Amazingly comfortable seat and sitting position. Never would have that guessed When I bought 1 just for fun. I expected just the opposite.

    How was the 650 power wise and on the highway?

    • @MotoKeng
      @MotoKeng  Před 2 lety +9

      The 650 is great if you live in the area where you keep it below 60 mph. The bike works fantastic in urban environment such as downtown Seattle, Nyc etc. On the highway it gets a bit tricky, especially if the rider is heavier set 200 plus pounds. I wish it has a 6th gear every time I went past 75 mph.

    I currently have a sports bike but have driven cruisers in the past just here and there I’m trying to decide between yamaha FJR 1300 or a Vstar the reason being is I am 6 foot 3 And I was wondering does that bike fit you good and do you think it’s possible for a tall person like myself to fit that comfortably

    • @GMCBigBlock420
      @GMCBigBlock420 Před 3 lety +1

      If you have your heart set on that brand, The FJR it’s really the machine to own. A superior chassis, a superior engine that will make r1 power with a simple ecu and flash/dyno tune. Monstrous engines held back simply by electronic restrictions and mild mapping. Incredibly comfortable and the ability to conquer mileage a v star couldn’t dream of doing comfortably. The super sport tourer is vibration free and capable of doing everything you want it to do completely effortlessly. I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to support multiple high-performance vehicles, and I say that because it’s the only reason I have a cruiser in my garage. It’s just really not something you want unless your Only interested in that.

    • @tommyv22222
      @tommyv22222 Před 3 lety

      Thanks man I appreciate that. You kNow I’ve always liked looking at cruisers and Harley’s and stuff but when I really think about it I’m in love with the sport touring. Kindof indecisive so The advice goes along way.

    • @MotoKeng
      @MotoKeng  Před 3 lety +1

      Hey. Just saw your message today. I honestly think it all comes to your own preference and comfort. Try to hit up dealers or private sellers and sit/test ride on one. You are quite tall and some mid size Japanese cruiser bike might feel tight, although the Vstar 650 feels and look a bit bigger then some of the other brands (Honda, Suzuki, Kawasaki etc.) out there with similar engine cc sizes.

    I sold my Ninja and bought a XVS 650. At first I was... What have I done ! This thing handles like a garbage truck ! I'm so stupid for selling the Ninja. But after changing the 2004 tyres that were on the bike, and stripping it down and making a bobber out of it, I'm madly in love with my XVS 650. The bond that creates between a man working on his machine is impossible to describe with words. I never had that bond with my crotch rocket.

    • @MotoKeng
      @MotoKeng  Před 3 lety +1

      Yes! Crotch rocket is only meant to go fast and vicious. With the cruiser, you can pamper and customize it more to your liking. Also makes riding a bit more enjoyable and relaxful
