FYI: the oldest kingdom founded in Indonesia was the Kutai Martadipura hindu kingdom situated in current East Kalimantan Province, Indonesia founded in 4th century AD. The kingdom was founded by an Indian king named "Mulavarman" and the ancient inscription is still preservededly well kept in Indonesia's national museum

The first Indian king on Indonesia region (Greater Sunda Islands) is Aji Saka in Java island (according to folklore). And there is kingdom in Central Java named Kalingga, they are refugee from India after the war with Muria dynasty (Maurya). This kingdom is predecessor of two great dynasty (Sanjaya and Sailendra or Mataram and Sriwijaya).
Btw, the kingdom of Kalingga/Keling in Central Java has strong relationship with Sunda kingdom in West Java (especially with Galuh kingdom). And as we know, Kutai kingdom and Sunda kingdom is one lineage (from Kutai to Tarumanagara to Sunda and Galuh kingdom), from Kudungga to Mulawarman (Kutai) to Purnawarman (Tarumanagara) to Tarusbawa (Sunda) and Wretikandayun (Galuh).
From Wretikandayun lineage with Kalingga/Keling kingdom at Central Java we have Sanjaya dynasty and Sailendra dynasty (Mataram and Sriwijaya). Mataram dissolved into Kediri/Panjalu and Janggala at the same time when Sriwijaya attacked by Cholamandala kingdom (the fell of Nalanda and the decline of Buddhism, according to history book in Indonesia).
After the invasion of Cholamandala kingdom, we move the center of Buddhism from Nalanda to Borobudur at Central Java and the center of Hinduism from Jambudwipa to Mount Semeru/Mahameru at East Java. After that Majapahit era came (Siwa-Buddha period and we abandoned the caste system).
From Majapahit era, we have National Motto printed on National Emblem/Garuda Pancasila. Bhinneka Tunggal Ika/unity in diversity. From Bhinneka Tungga Ika Tan Hana Dharma Mangrwa... At Majapahit era, many of us believe that Siwa and Buddha/Jina is one entity because there is no duality in truth (Tan Hana Dharma Mangrwa).

This is due to the clarity of the transition from one dynasty to another. From Kutai Martadipura-Kartanagara, Tarumanagara, Sunda, Galuh, Kalingga (refugees from India), Mataram (Kalingga-Galuh), Sriwijaya, Kediri, Janggala, Singasari, Majapahit, Pajajaran (Sunda-Galuh), Pajang, Sumedang, and Mataram Sultanate (the largest Islamic Sultanate in Indonesia). The transition from the Siwa-Buddha kingdom to Islamic sultanate is very clear. We even use the Javanese calendar system/penanggalan Jawa (a hybrid between the Saka calendar and the Hijri calendar) in addition to using the Gregorian calendar. It's very easy to convert from Saka calendar to the Hijri calendar system.

Namely the puppet show performance ceremony with the Murwakala play. In addition, there are many stories of saints fighting the supernatural powers of the Gedeng Permoni devotees, such as the story of Syekh Subakir, etc.

In the past, majority of Indonesian were Hindu and Budha because influenced from India, but when Arabian / Muslim Trader / Islamic Kingdom comes, so many people and many Hindu/Budha Kingdoms mostly in Java Island accepted Islam religion peacefully because they're merged and keeps our Traditions & Cultures. So that's why, Islam in Indonesia is different than Middle East country like Arab, and any other Muslim countries.
It's different in Bali Island that still maintains Hindu religion because their Kingdoms. And.. if our old man / great great grandma and grandpa in that era of Hindu or Budha Kingdoms (example: Javanese / Sundanese kingdom in Java Island) in the past didn't accept Islam... Maybe we are still Hindu / Budha until now, like Balinese in Bali Island...
Actually, Hindu in Bali and India are have differences.. like before, as i said : "We have our traditions & cultures". About Christianity in Indonesia are comes from European like Portuguese and Dutch colonialism that we known as Gold, Glory and Gospel. And the last is Konghucu / Confucianism is comes from Tiongkok / Chinese long time ago...
