As requested: A guide to uneven bars mounts using the 2009 Code of Points. Could all current gymnasts take note: the glide kip, straddle vault and jump to high bar are not the only options
They really should upgrade the difficulty of a lot of these. I mean of course people aren't going to do interesting mounts if they aren't rewarded. I think all of these should at least go up one letter.
Some times I need to come back to montages like this just to remember that there is such a thing as an F uneven bars mount, I wish there were still gymnasts doing those skills
A few of these I think wouldn't be possible any more, given the distance between the high and low bars (mostly the ones where the gymnast approaches from the low bar and needs to clear it to get to the high bar) but it would be lovely if more complicated mounts became popular again. Awesome guide!
Thanks for a great video! I think that there should be a deduction for elite level routines on bars (and beam) that have A mounts. After all, there is a large deduction if the dismount is not commensurate with the difficulty level of the exercise.
Tom Schmidt the D-level dismount isn’t a composition requirement anymore. Also, I think doing an A skill as a mount is fine-look at some of those ones at the beginning. They’re interesting and artistic and I personally would love to see more gymnasts start their routines with them.
i like the video , I wasnt really anygood at doing mounts on bars but i sure could rock a double front dismount though. One skill i would love to see competed is a one and half twist handstand catch to the lowbar instead of the regular half twist catch. That is the skill i was working on when i got hurt and had to quit gymnastics. I wanted it to be named after me but in order to do that you have to compete the skill in a national meet. I didnt make it, so bummer! I would love to see it done.
With injuries, I would imagine. Banned vaults (sideways landing) and banned floor moves (any roll-out) are extremely dangerous. Not to mention that beam dismount where crashing your head off the end looks like a requirement. There's a really good reason why they are banned.
Half of this mounts are not possible anymore (bc bars are far apart), some are maybe not allowed (with hips on a bar). Besides it doesn't worth to do a difficult mount. Something can go wrong and then you'll have a fall at the very beginning of a combination. That's why gymnasts works more on a dismount.
@aftermath9012 It doesnt hurt if youre trained because the bars are a little flexible theyre not like iron bars XD if you have good body tension its the same as sitting down and well bouncing off again XD
@bunbacheso Well I understand what you're saying, but if you DID choose a mount that was a C (for example), then you would have met one of your required C skills by using that mount. Maybe she's saying that by the time you fulfill your other requirements, you have enough difficulty that you don't need another valuable element. I guess if you do all of the direction changing, release skills, bar changes, etc, you don't need a hard mount!
@mseastbay I think she means that it does not have to be included in the group of elements that count for a difficulty score if it is not one of the most difficult elements. Like if everything else is d or e level, but the mount is a, there won't be an a in the score. Does that make sense or am I being a weirdo?
Refreshing... nowadays is just one mount... and a bunch of release moves from the high bar... so the low bar nowadays is pretty much just for mounting.
No, if you do a difficult mount and it was in the top 8 skills then it would count, but if you do an easy mount that is not in the top 8 skills then it wouldn't count. What they are saying is that they should count the mount towards the start value.
There absolutely should be extra points for doing a B or C mount. Kip to stoop through - surely the bar transfer isn't A-level?! I still can't find that transfer in the CoP. And the kip with straddle cut - I wonder if that is a release move. The gymnast doesn't go far from the bar, but she does release, and I don't see any place where the COP says that doesn't count. It would be the easiest release move ever, but...
If gymnasts did something other than a glide kip or jump to high bar, they should get some huge bonus ...lol
Wow, I just realized that there are lots of mounts I had never seen before. Gymastics was so much more artistic back in the days...
They really should upgrade the difficulty of a lot of these. I mean of course people aren't going to do interesting mounts if they aren't rewarded. I think all of these should at least go up one letter.
Olessia Dudnik's 2:26 is a wow.
I love these - thank you so much. Im bored bored bored with world class gymnasts doing a kip mount on bars! You should send this to all their coaches!
Some times I need to come back to montages like this just to remember that there is such a thing as an F uneven bars mount, I wish there were still gymnasts doing those skills
That's what I'm saying!
Olessia Dudnik was one crazy chick. lol
A few of these I think wouldn't be possible any more, given the distance between the high and low bars (mostly the ones where the gymnast approaches from the low bar and needs to clear it to get to the high bar) but it would be lovely if more complicated mounts became popular again.
Awesome guide!
Great montage!
I really enjoy all the ones you have done in various skills and added the difficulty and everything :)
I have said it before and I will say it forever
Poetry in Motion...The Body Human Imperfecta
this is exactly the kind of gymnastics video I like to see if it's not a full competition!! i would give 10 stars if possible!
wow i wish we saw more of these! it would be so much more interesting than just a kip! i
Thank you so much. They need to up th value of mounts. I really miss cool mounts!
@StelenaVD thats so awesome. She is one of the greatest...I hope she knows that. Great to hear she is still in Egypt.
Back in day I loved maxi gnauck and Julianne McNamara on bars- and their peers- so innovative
OLESSIA DUDNIK IS MY COACH!!!! 2:19
gymnastics turning boring, we need inovations :/ glide kip mount still the most used, even in the olympics

yay now i got more ideas for my mount!!! thx @MostepanovaFan
this is awesome
Very Nice Man. Superb. 5 Stars.
A.W.S.O.M.E.
There was a lot of spectacular mounts.. Still I liked the one at 3:00 most ^^

@hellsangel87 its so true and very sad because they are so creative and cool. They definitely give a routine a little more edge.
Those are some crazy difficult mounts! My coach wants me to do the third one I think it was.. the straight jump full kip up. Yeahh Is Really Hard.
I don’t know the actual rules about UB mounts, but, so many options and nobody take it seriously 😢
Half of this mounts are not possible anymore (bc bars are far apart), some are maybe not allowed (with hips on a bar).

yay for variety! i'd like to see some current girls do what dudnik did! (the one exception i can think of on the US team is jana)
OMG.2:09 is sick!! i am so gonna learn that one!!!
1.10 was my mount ! .. when the bars were much, much closer ;-)
good lord i didn't know it was so complicated
That's what I was wondering.
@LCAmarkymark YEah it is! She's actually in Egypt now!! I'm not lying.
@aftermath9012 It doesnt hurt if youre trained because the bars are a little flexible theyre not like iron bars XD if you have good body tension its the same as sitting down and well bouncing off again XD
I've actually always wondered that. I don't think we would ever find out because people would probably be too scared to try it.
@bunbacheso Well I understand what you're saying, but if you DID choose a mount that was a C (for example), then you would have met one of your required C skills by using that mount. 1:30 is amazing
this is intense.
i am going to start working on a GUROVA now
There should be extra bonus points for gymnasts doing D or E mounts ...
I meant an extra incentive on top of the A-E labeling to encourage difficulty and variety.
@StelenaVD where is she coaching now...thats awesome
@LCAmarkymark Yeah she is! I'll tell her you said that xD
My fave is the McNamara Mount with the half turn. IMO it should have a higher rating.
These COP videos are great! Are some of these even still possible with the bars set up now?
I think so
WOW!!!
@mseastbay I think she means that it does not have to be included in the group of elements that count for a difficulty score if it is not one of the most difficult elements. Like if everything else is d or e level, but the mount is a, there won't be an a in the score. Does that make sense or am I being a weirdo?
the first one is nastia luikin.
Refreshing... nowadays is just one mount... and a bunch of release moves from the high bar... so the low bar nowadays is pretty much just for mounting.
@MostepanovaFan What do you mean? Are you saying that the judges don't have to count the mount toward meeting the requirements? Why is that?
Why don't gymnasts use more artistic mounts these days???
No, if you do a difficult mount and it was in the top 8 skills then it would count, but if you do an easy mount that is not in the top 8 skills then it wouldn't count. What they are saying is that they should count the mount towards the start value.
Yes, this uses the 2009 code
Could you even do some of these with the bars so far apart now?
damn!!
like they have to dancing while do glide kip mount?
and the gurova.and 2:21 and 3:13.WOW
@girlygal902 I think you have to be very heavy to break it.
Can gymnast now days do those mounts?? Lately I'm seeing only A difficulty mounts.
is that what thy are called uneven or are they just really uneven
There absolutely should be extra points for doing a B or C mount.
Kip to stoop through - surely the bar transfer isn't A-level?! I still can't find that transfer in the CoP.

is this video with the difficult scores of 2009??
Yes
Is 1:03 even possible with the distance between the bars today?
what do the difficulty levels mean??
No they don't have to count it (which is probably why so many people do glide kips)
Well then how would it be in the code of points if it was banned? It is obviously not banned.
there are... thats why they name them A-E
oh i must have meant "can". damn you autocorrect
you can't still compete it, this is the current code of points
it seems to me that all oriental female gymnasts are very thin...
A= ?
B= ?

Level of difficulty.
