Thank you for honoring Gordon Lightfoot. His music will live on forever. I have his full collection as well. I laughed when you said you paid more for the Two Tones than you expected.. me too! But so happy to have this rare album. I love the song Tattoo. Salute so under rated. He said he felt if the album had been called Whispers of the North it might have got more air play.

Whisper of the North... it would definitely have resonated with his fellow Canadians and many of us from the Midwest :) Thank you for your kind words!

I really like Don Quixote. I listened to it three times last week. I also spun his debut a couple of times, which is absolutely stunning. I rank it up with JJ Cale's as one of the best debuts by a solo artist. I also really like Dream Street Rose. It has a terrible cover, but it is such a solid record. And you know how much I dig Endless Wire! The title track is my current earworm. I love hearing you wax on about Gord. Such an important figure.

Thank you for the kind words :)
I never disliked Endless Wire, and it's grown even more in my view the more I listen to it. The title track ranks among his best, and most creative songs.
DQ... the one-two punch of Christian Island and Alberta Bound is one of my favorites among all his work.

I like his original versions of 'Steel Rail Blues' 'Softly' 'Affair On 8th Avenue' 'Wherefore and Why' 'Canadian Railroad Trilogy'. I did not care for the new versions he recorded on his double album 'Gord's Gold' (November 1975). 'Summertime Dream' is my favourite Lightfoot album . Excellent video Brett. 🇨🇦

      Thank you! :)
I didn't mind the re-recordings but the originals are the definitive version, I agree.
I spun Summertime Dream later in the day - I closed with that, Sundown, and Cold On The Shoulder (my personal favorite) before enjoying a cigar & bourbon on the deck with a Gord playlist.

@@brettsmusicreviews2641 Your welcome Brett. On another note, trying to pick my favourite Lightfoot song is as difficult as picking my favourite Beatle song. I could pick two or three songs but picking one is a lost cause. 😄

@@241156can Same! I can MAYBE pick a Top 10 for Gord. I have a few definite numbers but none is better than the other. So much of his work resonates deeply with me.

@@brettsmusicreviews2641 You might want to consider doing a top ten of Gordon's songs. I don't know his material after 'Endless Wire' (1978). However, I could still pick ten songs up to that point in time. Cheers ... David 👍

Great video. Hard to believe it’s already been a year that we lost him. I really loved the album ranking series you did. I often go back to it because I enjoyed it that much. I saw one of his final shows in the US in July 2022 in Ocean City, NJ. I also saw him in December 2021. I’m fortunate I get to see him when I did. I’m only 21 years old and absolutely love his catalog. Salute Gord!

Thank you so much for the kind words! We were all fortunate to see him when we did, my friend. When I saw him in September 2022, my life was in turmoil (a divorce, losing my house, all kinds of stuff), and his music was such a healing force for me. You'd never know he was at the end of his life, that it would be his final tour. He was a vibrant force on stage.

@@brettsmusicreviews2641 Don’t thank me, thank you for the wonderful videos of Gord. And I’m so sorry you had to go through so much adversity. I’ve been through quite a bit in the past year and Gordon’s music has really helped me out a bunch. It’s amazing what the power of a great song can do to you. When I saw him for the final time, I didn’t think it would be the last. As you mentioned, he certainly sounded his age but it was still a treat and he really enjoyed what he did. His performance had a very grandfatherly vibe. I will miss him greatly, but am so fortunate to still have the music! Cheers!

@richardbetz5531 here's to better times ahead for us both, my friend! Music is a healing force and Gord's albums will outlast us all, remaining old friends for the rest of our time here.
