    Honestly, I’ll be glad if we start going the ruthless route with no room for sentimentality when it comes to who we keep hold of and who we sell. I feel like Klopp was very loyal to players who were past their best and that maybe is the reason we didn’t win as much as we would’ve.

      It’s not about that ..
      Klopp and pep explain for a system to work you need player understanding not only of the system but each other .. now it’s easier to bring in 1 player at a time but that costs money .. ox was for sale for 32 seasons no takers as an example ..
      now going back to the success under Klopp that was down to player loyalty and understanding ..
      Now selling players you can only do if you have takers for those players
      Keita , ox and Origi were for sale for 18 -24 months no takers .
      So in a limited budget and no takers for players .
      Not many clubs sell their captain or one of the best DM’s in the league ..
      Edwards has a habit of refusing new deals for older players so they left on frees
      Gini , Bobby , Origi ( as no buyers)
      Mane forced a move
      Pep got his success because of a player didn’t work out he just bought a new player hence the £500m spent just on his defence .. Klopp couldn’t do that and had to coach players and work them till they needed replacements but you need 12 months for each player to bed in ..
      Which costs money .
      Had FSG done certain things differently we might of got fresh faces in when the club needed them .

    Hopefully we see more windows similar to the summer of 2018. If we brought in transformational players it will be massive .
    I think jurgen leaving will probably hurt us in the next 12 to 18 months but if it’s true that he is burned out then it’s better to bring someone in who is fresh and can work with Edwards to build the next crop talented trophy winners. The 2017-2020 team was special hopefully we can repeat it.

    If Edwards and Ward is absolutely great at everything explain this then. When Konate was signed, one of the red flags raised was his injury record, which apparently was ignored. Well, 3 seasons in and guess what the biggest concern is with Konate: his injury record.
    And if the stories are to be believed they also wanted Nkunku over Nunez. And guess what's the biggest concern with Nkunku over the last couple of seasons: his injury record.
    That's on top on Keita who again was signed from RB Leipzig. And what was one of his biggest issues at Liverpool: his freaking injury record!

    I just watched the Spurs vs Burney game, well the last 20 mins of it. Burnley were denied a penalty in the last few mins when their player was clipped in the box. VAR did nothing. Brought back memories of the Spurs game and made me wonder. Is there a pro-Spurs bias in the VAR officials? The Spurs game where we were robbed and ended the game with 9 men was so egregious that it's hard to just pass it off as human error. I wonder if there is a stat on how many contentious decisions Spurs have gotten against opponents from VAR this season.

    I believe thats fantastic.
    But they overlooked the Klopp factor in this. The players signed0 became successful because Klopp brought out the best in them. Thats a world class coach. I hope Slot is that too. Because if he isnt able to do that, the stats and strategies wont matter at all and performances will suffer.
    But I'm hoping for the best.

    The thing is here, yes Michael Edwards did good research work, but also Jurgen got more out of players than most other managers. Were all these players hidden gems, or was Jurgen making superstars out of average players (think Hendo). I think it was a combination of the two. We've seen Jurgen create success at other clubs, without these guys. We haven't seen these guys create success without a superstar manager. I do however agree with the Real Madrid part where they swop managers and maintain success. They however buy superstars. Jurgen deserves to be at a club that gives him an unlimited budget, the world deserves to see what he's capable of with a Pep budget.

      @@Synysterjmz Rogers was out of his depth and wanted control of everything - he didn't have the managerial credentials to demand control of player transfers and also it wasn't the clubs strategy. Edwards was doing the job the club asked of him.
      Since Rogers left I think we can see what Roger level truly was, and we can see the work Edwards has done for LFC. If thats the work of a clown, I'm down with the circus.
      Rogers was a stepping stone to Klopp.
      Mismatched Hodgeson to caretaker Kenny, to rookie Rogers to world class manager Klopp.

    • @Synysterjmz
      @Synysterjmz Před měsícem

      @@chilled99 it’s easy to criticise Rodgers years after his tenure, but he didn’t have control of transfers; there was a committee, featuring Edwards and Ward. Let’s not forget, Rodgers came to LFC with the same sort of credentials as Di Zerbi, perhaps more and many have likened him to the LFC job. As for Slot, most hadn’t heard of him until a month ago. The point I’m making is that this watered down managerial role, with a lot of the footballing direction handled by Edwards, Ward and Hughes may not follow the same success as what we saw from them with Klopp in control. Yeah, they signed some great players, but they also signed some absolute and the ones that excelled did so because of Klopp.
      Obviously I hope this change in set up is successful, but what I don’t want to see if Slot getting thrown under the bus when things go wrong.

      @chilled99 Před měsícem

      @@Synysterjmz Rogers did get with the program. At the end of the day the club brought in a structure and he didn't want anyones advice on transfers. Time has proven him and those who were attacking the transfer committee to be wrong.
      How does that make Edwards and Ward clowns? Why is it Klopp could work with them, who is a superior manager and won everything working with them and not too much since, but Rogers couldn't?

    • @Synysterjmz
      @Synysterjmz Před měsícem

      @@chilled99 well if you believe the reports, Klopp didn’t work well with them and is probably why the both initially left. It’s a bit of a coincidence that as soon as he decides to call time as Liverpool manager, they come running back. Perhaps clowns is too strong of a word, but bringing in Edwards, Ward and Slot to essentially do Klopp’s job just seems like too many chefs (ignoring Hughes here because he’s the sporting director). And are we really going to sit here and believe that Edwards overarching say on everything football, possibly undermining Slot in the process is a good way to run a club? That model might work if you’re Florentino Perez at Real Madrid and you have the money and pull to sign any player you desire; but at Liverpool, working within a moneyball approach to spending, in a league where Chelsea, City etc are allowed to flaunt FFP rules, I doubt it. Edward’s success is because of Klopp, let’s not forget that. I don’t doubt for a second that we’d have the same success in that period with any other sporting director working with Klopp. The same cannot be said for Edwards & Ward yet and it will be telling in the next season if Slot can imitate Klopp’s successful coaching under this managerial set up.

I would have wished we got a Conte, Mourinho(Ok no Mourinho), Simeone kind of type in temporarily that berates the owners for small budget, gets the transfer fee, does not deliver trophies within in 2 years and gets sacked. The Edwards and Julian Ward love fest from Liverpool fans is embarrassing. Did you all forget the dross these guys brought in when Rodgers was manager? This is a return of the transfer committee and Arne Slot is the fall guy.

      All we should be doing now is giving Klopp a good send off and hoping Slot have a good start to next season.Stop being critical, you don't know the future.

      As a manager, this would not work for me, I am the one that gets sacked for someone else picking players that don't fit how I want to play.
      For me the manager has the final say and the team behind identity the options, go and get the players, sort the contracts etc
