Kyori Sato was one of the earliest dolls in the Fashion Royalty line-up from Integrity Toys. She appeared in 2004, three years after the launch dolls, Veronique and Adele, had made their debut.
Initially cast as the best friend of Veronique and Adele, it wasn’t too long before the Japanese beauty simply went bad and was dismissed from W Cosmetics by the exasperated Veronique. There had simply been too many unexplained disappearances, and the disruptively sudden trips to Japan.

The duplicitous Sato had struck up a secret alliance with Natalia Fatalé's rival company, Missima Corporation. Unbeknownst to Veronique, Kyori met Natalia Fatalé a year before her dismissal from W while visiting her family in Japan. The wily Natalia saw both a fellow spirit and an opportunity, revealing to Kyori her big plan to oust her incompetent husband, Perry Marino, and take control of Missima. She promised Sato big bucks, and a brighter future, if she brought back a few secrets from her daily meetings at W. Natalia did come through by naming Sato, Model Coordinator for Missima, and giving her total control over her team of models.
More recently, Kyori has “fallen in love” with music mogul Darius Reid, and is currently using him for undisclosed plans. Reid is so enamored with the model, that everyone around them is scared of the potential results if they got married. Kyori Sato really is not the type of woman to mess with.

Hi Phoebe, Thanks very much, I appreciate it! I don't understand why Kyori has been put on ice either - such a great character. Hopefully she'll reappear again soon. Eden and Lilith are definitely on the list, I'm working my way through the lineup (it might take a while!!).

The end of Dec. 2023, I got my very first Integrity Toys fashion doll, a Night Shade Kyori! She's my favorite doll in my collection. I'm already getting more IT dolls on lay-away, of course.

Wow! That’s a strong opinion. What do others think? Did you stop collecting after 2013? Jason Wu still produces couture dolls for IT, so he still has some involvement with the company.
That's the thing with fashion, it's always changing. Looking back at some of the later 2000s to mid 2010 designs really have me scratching my head, whereas I loved many of them during those times😂
Absolutely right - you nailed it! And the whole point of fashion is to break the boundaries, which means that some folks won't like it. I know what you mean about loving fashions at the time and then in retrospect they have little appeal. I'm working on the next FR doll video right now (2010-2014), and I've discovered a whole section that's not so great, although nobody much noticed when it came out! Keep watching, I hope to publish it soon!
