    I just purchased the 4300 lattego series. I brewed several shots of espresso through it for starters then turned the grinder a notch to finer every 5 espressos until i reached the 3rd notch. The pucks came out perfect and the espresso is awesome. I turned the espresso shot down to the second lowest water setting otherwise it would be watery and sour. This machine is phenomenal. I love it! The milk drinks are all excellent. I use the Illy medium roast ground and dunkin donuts medium roast for beans. I highly recommend this machine. Im going to hook a waterline and a float inside of the tank so it will automatically refill. Great video thanks.

  • @dennisargall
    @dennisargall Před rokem +4

    Very useful video. I have been using a manual machine for a long time, therefore in excessive maturity I’m exploring for a geriatric aid. A manual machine with a good grinder and good beans is excellent for learning. But it takes time. And mistakes!
    Some comments. A number of people are surprised by the small volume. By definition an espresso in Italy should mean best coffee extracted shortest time with minimum water, maximum pressure. Thus you get less caffeine, max flavour, can drink it all day without jitters. Try it before reverting to Nescafé normal.
    Other commenters are concerned about temperature. Coffee is damaged by boiling water, so a good coffee is made at milder temperature. Save the boiling water for tea.
    In Italy a big breakfast is not normal. You enter the bar on the corner, say hello to the person on the register and pay your money, take your little receipt (ricevutino) along, find a space to stand at the bar, put the ricevutino in front of you… and if you are known the barista will have your coffee, exactly as you like it, waiting. You swig the coffee, say goodbye to everyone, they sing out goodbye to you…and out the door to work. You want the coffee at the temperature to be able to drink just like that.
    Your approach to macchiato was interesting. Macchiato in Italian means smudged, so by definition only the smallest amount of milk.
    Caffe latte (literally coffee milk) sounds funny when people just say I’ll have a latte because that means just milk.
    Flat white is a creature from Australia from before people knew about caffe latte and as the label spreads people define it as this or that, but it began as just cappuccino sized with the milk froth held back. Flat white desired here in Oz initially especially by those of us with beard or moustache, or I suppose lipstick, a revolt from the cappuccino with froth and chocolate. Only thing worse in this situation is trying to eat gelato when you haven’t trimmed the beard.
    Cafe au lait is just coffee with milk in French. I suppose if you pronounced it the same way but spelt it as café olé you might be expected to add Tequila, but um, no. Not together.
    Thanks again for such an excellent review of the flexibility of the machine. And now I see this top model is not sold in Australia, I will check out the 4300 which is sold here.

  • @photographiezautrement
    @photographiezautrement Před 2 lety +4

    Caffè Macchiato (Ital) = Café "Taché" (litteral french translation, but we use italian) = "Stained" Cafe (english) : Milk with a stain of cafe. So milk first
    Café au Lait (french) = Cafe with milk. So Cafe first.

    How hot does the milk get? I like mine hot, and some of the super automatics deliver luke warm milk. This was a major factor for me, so I went with a Rocket! But it seems like this may be a better option for me these days since I just want one here and there and not want to heat up my big machine for 20 minutes, and grind one cup of beans! Hey thank you for this video! You actually inspired me to buy one. Something I noticed is that regardless of all settings (Aroma strength, grind size, etc) every espresso shot pulls in about 11 seconds, which in a manual machine would be waaaaaay too fast. How long are you seeing the espresso pulls taking on your device? Also, do you know what the device is technically doing based on the "Aroma Strength" setting? Is it change flow rate? Dosage weight? According to the manual it just seems to be some magic setting! Thanks!

    • @bryanpoulsen8969
      @bryanpoulsen8969 Před 2 lety +1

      I’ve seen in other videos that if you want any other combination of coffee and milk that doesn’t come by default, you can experiment with your own. What you would do is you prepare the coffee portion exactly the way you like it, with the right proportion of beans and water, and then separately you just make some frothed milk. Then, you blend them in any order and proportions you like.

      Also, how much liquid volume are you pulling per shot? I’d keep it low, like 1oz. Run additional shots if you want it stronger. Again just my two cents. A normal shot for espresso is ~18G of beans and this you can pull 2oz from, but this machine maybe grinds 10G at most so asking for my than 1oz is going to become watery.

The espresso shots have little creama. and watery and no taste . That could also be that the shot temp isn't hot enough but I've test 2 other units and the all seem to have the same problem .I've adjusted to the hottest setting with no change .The latte drinks are satisfactory with the same temp issues not hot enough .

      Many of these drinks are supposed to be 1.5-2oz. This is how you make an espresso. For larger drinks the capacity maxes out at about 8oz of liquid for the coffee. The reason is that the brewer itself can only hold so much coffee and any more water going through it would just make it watery.
