This man is amazing, and there are hidden gems in this short video that everyone should take away. "When fate hits you, it doesn't warn you." "The best day of your life and the worst day of your life dawn the same".

I am in awe of this man and Roberto Canessa. Something that always disturbed me was how quickly Nando’s father moved on. He sold his clothes and his prized motorcycle within weeks of the plane’s disappearance. The man lost 3/4 of his family and was selling their stuff and remarrying yet Carlos Paez scoured the Andes using his resources for weeks looking for his son. Always bothered me.

Do you have any video where the story of Nando's father is explained? I didn't know that he was moving on so quickly. Maybe he wanted to escape the pain of the loss of his family? I don't know, but it is interesting.

He made a logical conclusion that they were gone because the plane was lost in the high mountains. It was extremely fortunate that most of the people survived the crash itself.

José Luis 'Coche' Inciarte (who lived this tragedy at the age of 24) died from cancer on 27 July 2023. Like most of the passengers on that plane, he was not part of the rugby team.
With a badly injured leg he had to 'operate on' with a razor blade to drain the pus, and seeing the days go by with no news about the expeditionaries (Canessa and Parrado), he decided to wait until Christmas Eve to let himself die in the Andes. Fortunately, the rescue helicopters arrived on 22nd December.
He is described by the other survivors as 'the sense of humour in the mountains', and as the one who brought tenderness to the hell they were living in.

Being stuck in avalanches and then basically being buried alive from it for 4 days. Having to walk 10 days in the cold stormy snow to get help from the Andes mountain to chile. Until u go through exactly what they went through you have absolutely no right to judge. The longest I went without eating is 3 days but at least I was drinking water these men didn’t even have water just snow. And they went 6 days without food. Can u imagine the pain? The thirst? The starvation?

This has me gripped, to think of what you went through and survived. How did you feel when you saw more & more mountains? How did you feel when you saw a man or horseback, after, what, 10 days of agony and the unknown ahead, you finally saw life. You didn't have death hanging over your head anymore. But I'm sure that, during the help, the bread, the food, the hospitality, your thoughts were never far away from where you had just come from, because those people needed help and rescue now, the sooner the better, right now, please, they're dying.
it's just fantastic on so many levels.
    But for one thing.
You did it on your own, none of you had any help from a mythical story about some god who loved you (? would you do that to someone you loved?) but had no interest in you whatsoever because "it" never existed in the first place, we know that.
It pisses me off when people attribute some awesome attribute or skill a person has, and has worked sometimes a lifetime to perfect, to this "God is so good!" "To God be the Glory!" Thank goodness we're getting away from that.
You, and the others who survived did it by your own group creativity & cooperation, desperation, depression, fear, death everywhere, cold, and rising above major cultural taboo's, in order to survive.
No god could be so cruel. It was all you. I just can't imagine what you all went through.
