Great video with some very useful information, not only on upgrading the Ringfield motor, but also on cleaning and lubricating a locomotive.
Very well explained, thank you. Might well have a go at upgrading some of my own locos now.
Enjoyed your tutorial. Placed an initial order for six units for my historical loco collection.
Great stuff Mark.
great video, very helpfull. thank you
Just fitted these motors to a Lima/Railroad Class 40 and Class 37. Easy to do, and running is transformed. Some locos pick up from both sides of the non-motorised bogie, so check the original wiring to be clear what goes where, and which additional wire from the pickups needs to be joined to the motor from the rear bogie and the wire from the pickup on the motor bogie - i,e to make a 3-wire connection.
Hi 👋 good video
Bro, 12:50 thats NOT how you remove a LIma power bogie. unscrew the 2 screws underneath. The bogie frame goes downwards, the ringfield motor goes upwards. Will break a main-chassis frame doing the way you done it. Motor bogie needs to be dismantled anyway to solder the new wire to the pickup plate, access is easier and no chance of melting the bogie frame. Good job otherwise
Very nicely paced video with fine details. Will it also be possible to use this motor for the older Fleischmann locos?
Hello friend, I'm from Brazil, from the state of Rio de Janeiro, and I would like to purchase the adapter to replace the old 3-pole motor with a more modern one, as per your explanation above! How do I buy the adapter for my Lima locomotive? thanks! Luiz Rodrigues
do you service trains and put new motors in
So why didn't you solder the red wire to the bogie and connect black to black ?
Hi Mark I have an old lima shunter that needs re-motoring and converting to DCC. As a shunter is more power less speed does it take a different motor to that of a loco? If it does I hope you can supply same in your ebay shop.
Cheers Tim
I got the like to your ebay from Chadwick Model Railway, youtube channel, about your Horby ringfild motor, however I have a Lima, intercity 125 made back in the 80's would it or another fit that you do ?
Great conversion but when will you have more in stock?
Hopefully a couple of weeks time. Just waiting for a new batch of the motors to be delivered.
Hey Mark how would I wire in a decoder for dcc operation?
Hey. Take a look at the below video which is DCC wiring on a Hornby model, however the principles are the same.

Hello, where could I write to send you a photo of the original engine of my file so that you can tell me exactly how much I have to buy. Thank you so much.
