  • Today we will travel 60 km west from Prague to visit a castle that was used as a prison. Many interesting prisoners were kept within its walls, even the famous emperor and Bohemian king Charles IV. But probably the most famous prisoner was an English alchemist Edward Kelley and it is his story that Valery will tell you today.
Getting to Krivoklat is pretty easy. Take a train from Prague's main train station or Smichovske nadrazi to Beroun and there change to a small train to Krivoklat. Make sure to get on the correct train when changing - either ask the conductor which platform it goes from or quickly check the board in the station building.
For more information on how to visit Krivoklat castle visit the official website of Krivoklat: www.hrad-krivoklat.cz/en/plan...
BE AWARE that on Monday the castle is usually closed. #alchemy #castle #czechrepublic #realpragueguides

5:44 this tactic they made aldo in Greek train's. They use to put buses in some places. That make people upset and in some years will stop use the trsin system. Then some private buses will come and tradition train moving in Czech will kaput. So be aware and start asking for more and more Train!!! Protect the cheapest safest and coolest way to comote in the country.
    Amazing video one more time

I went to this castle in 2011. It was very interesting. The funniest thing was the warnings at the tourist place and the guide, both saying, "no pictures," but as soon as we got inside almost everyone started to take pictures. I couldn't believe it. I even took some because it was really interesting inside. I liked the video a lot and look forward to watching other videos. This was the first of your videos I saw.

What a sympathetic 'Ha' from the cameraman! 😊
And I would love to read a novel depicting these events. But some novels are simply boring and some are a bit unintelligent. The best ones (imo) have an interesting plot and are cleverly written. Like the old masters used to do, as Stevenson. Or Gaiman nowadays. But it's very rare.
    Rant, rant..
And quite an interesting video, as always! 👋

We were just in Prague last week. Prague is a great city to visit. We even did a tour with these guys. No, no Valerie on the day we went. Instead our guide was Vaclav. I told him I was a subscriber and complimented him on how well these video's are edited. Another great job on this video!

Not speaking the language reminds me of playing hockey (in the US Navy) with Soviet Airborne back in 1991. I didn't know any Russian then, but knew a few Slovak words.
I tried to get them to pay attention & do their jobs by repeating "Rabota".
They fell over laughing, Finally one of them taught me one of my 1st Russian words. "Davai".
    ps the food looks excellent.

Regarding 'king bene' Wladislav Yagiello: Wladislaw in fact spoke Czech language. (Plus: note that he was Polish, and 500 years ago Czech and Polish languages did not differ as much as they differ now. And even now Pole can sort of understand Czech if he/she tries hard. So 50h years ago, Wladislaw would have no problem understanding even if he did not learn Czech;)
The reason why he was called 'king bene' - he was a weak king with powers severely limited by aristocracy and towns. So he did not have much choice other than to consent to any requests by powerful aristocracy and towns. Hence 'King Bene'
