@@TheAppalachianStoryteller hey, we are gonna make some banjo when I get over around there. Then you can be my teacher. I can afford it. Its gonna be a real nice time. You can bring your boy in to build an instrument too. Of course Ill pay you to teach me how. And if ypu dont know how, we will all learn together.. I hope you will have the time. I sure do.. my brother..😊
You paint a picture with your words better than anything I’ve heard in years. It’s an art few truly possess. Much respect to you sir!
Thank you ❤️ ❤️
Yes agree 💯
There is another guy that does Wartime stories that is very good also...
Truly he has that gift, he makes a story come to life!
Not many people tell stories any more. This is a wonderful gift you are giving to us all.
I would say, not many people can sit still long enough to listen any more, I’m thankful for folks like you
Oh, my! I'm speechless! Poor thing, that was a trauma response. I can't wait for part 2!!!
❤️
I can't wait to hear the rest of the story I remember playing with the cloth dolls with painted on faces. I had a teddy bear my granny gave me when I was 4 he was my favorite Now I will be 61 this month an I still have my teddy
❤️
I listened to this story because my youngest child's name was Molly. As of 2019 She is forever 18 yrs old now.
Altho this is nothing like her childhood she would have loved to have found this story with her name as part of the title.
So because of that I too can't wait to hear more of this little Molly's story.
Bless you and your sweet Molly ❤️
So very sorry for your loss. May God give you strength and console you. 🙏✝
I’m so sorry you lost your Molly. She lives in your heart Hopefully this sweet story can give you a laugh and a cry. Bless you and your family.
Waiting for part 2. Parenting is the hardest job for which there is no formal training. We tend to parent as we were parented. Sometimes good, sometimes not.
you are exactly right, Ive spent much of my life contemplating this subject from every possible aspect and have much to say on it one day
@@TheAppalachianStoryteller I dealt with kids and families in therapeutic settings. Saw some real winners.
I imagine. Of course I had my own mangled childhood that i'm still sorting thru, and 22 years as a public school teacher to thousands of kids added a new layer. Its something, how short childhood is, yet it can determine a entire life. @@michaelstusiak5902
I wish you all the peace in the world. My dad, his brother, and 1 sister managed to escape a hellish abusive childhood and protected each other far beyond their traumatic childhoods thanks to their grandmother. My uncle (that 1 brother) just passed and he requested his ashes be sprinkled on the grave of "The only person that ever gave the kid me Peace" which was his grandmother. My aunt (that 1 sister) read the request and got physically sick at the thoughts of going near their childhood home in Pineville Kentucky. My dad is no longer here to do it but he would have stepped up to make sure his brother's final wish was honored. I was always kept far away from the family there so I am going to make that drive to make sure my uncle and dad continue to rest in peace. Thank you for your stories, topics you touch on, and magnificent story telling skills 😊@@TheAppalachianStoryteller
I do believe that is a fact and why I chose to never have children I would not treat another human like I was raised
Wow! Looking forward to what the future might bring for this little one. Thank you JD.🇺🇸
Thanks Richard! Have a blessed day brother!
Can’t wait to hear the rest of the story.
Thank you Carol!
Agreed! I got so sucked in to the story!❤
I can identify with Molly. I never felt loved by my mother either. I can't wait for part two.
❤️
Me either, she never really knew me,never cared to. My three sisters were beautiful according to her. Then there was me. No worse pain than not being what your mother wanted.
I just found your channel & I’ve binge watched since yesterday! Now a new one! Thank you so much for talking about the Appalachian people & keeping our way of life in the spotlight, like it should be. Nobody knows till they live it ♥️ Beautiful souls ♥️
Thank you Sassy, im so happy you found your way here!
Wonderfully sad. I had a mean mom too. Horrible mean. She is 88 now..
❤️
I had a mean mom from Appalachia. A lot of this coarse verbal observations sounds sadly familiar.
@@LauraDickenson well, she cant hurt you anymore Dear..🙏
Thanks . I was able to work it out before she died and I was able to take care of her until she died.
@@LauraDickenson You are stronger then me..
Oh my goodness I love it! I can't wait for part 2. Growing up my mother had 11 brothers and sister's so I had some cousins that acted like both young ladies!
Thank you Joy!!
I am an old guy now, a widower; but when younger, I had the honor of assisting at a home for abandoned or abused kids; as they came to know me, they would open up and seemed eager to tell their stories, maybe just wanting someone form the "outside" who could listen, not judge or interrupt. Often on the way home I had to stop and shed some tears, before I cold see to drive further, But several had childhoods that had some rage and pain from being treated differently from siblings- and in fact, one of the kids had been left in the family trailer alone when he was four, the mother, boyfriend and older siblings all just left.
But he thrived and we stayed in touch even after he moved on from the home, he became an Eagle Scout! I was as proud of him as if he were my own son.
Thank you for helping kids, nothing is more important ❤️
WOW- one of your most dramatic and emotional tales yet!! Looking forward to part II!!!
Thank you !
I felt the story ,bc you tell it to be be felt . Extraordinary
And looking forward to part 2!
Thank you Beth ❤️
I love the power of your stories. This one brought me to tears, as I felt a little something familiar in myself for little Miss Molly. Looking forward to part 2.
I myself know Mollys story all too well

@@TheAppalachianStoryteller old knowledge and the good Lord's way
The way we're meant to live is what you bring back to life and remind us of truth

Great story! Thanks, JD!
Thank you!
The beauty and also the sadness of this story is amazing. Can't wait for part 2'

Oh the anticipation, can't hardly wait, hurry part two.❤🇨🇦

I like rebel Molly already 😍 As I see it, she had quite the necessary therapy session. It was at that moment she relied on herself, protected herself and trusted her gut. I suppose she may never be reeled back in lol

That poor child..... my heart was breaking for her, and it does break for children today like that ❤

Mate, I have to hand it to you...the way you tell a story reminds me of the stories my parents used to tell me. Absolutely captivating.
Thanks so much!
A "Perfect " image for the girl in this story! J.D. ,you have, not only a very good eye for your characters & the layout in these stories but you must also have a treasure of a photo library.
I scour public databases nearly daily!
That made me both laugh and cry Good job!

Once again, another awesome story. Thank you for sharing this. They're always so captivating. Lord bless my friend
Thank you so much!
I was Molly. Part wild child, running barefoot through the woods. I had a threadbare Mrs. Beasley. My sister was the clean, neat one. Thankfully we are close, and I loved my mother dearly.
Well dang it JD now we all have wait to see what happens. Anticipation and my imagination will fill me up until you tell the rest of the story. It’s a good one so far. My brothers used to play keep away with my dolls until I cried. Thanks for the bonus video. You have a special gift of this. Too bad I can’t sit on your porch and listen to whatever comes to your mind.
I’ve always got plenty to say- even in real life
Shame on me for going to bed early and missing my favorite storyteller's latest masterpiece! It's a good one, JD, and I hope to see ya Satirday!

I love how you described Annie.
Thank you ❤️
Poor Molly.
Omg I'm crying! Seriously so sad.
I do have sympathy for Molly. In some families, more so years past, a children wasn't always wanted. They were simply just another mouth to feed and a by-product of adult compassions. Molly's mother might have been such a child and never knew how to be a loving and generous mother to all her children. Who is to know why these things happen in families, but it did happen. Parents should never play the favorites game, because it can leave some nasty scars for life. Molly was already feeling the pain of criticism, exclusion and jealousy. The scars were starting.
Well said
Love this ❤
Thank you!
I had to laugh, simply couldn't help myself! LOL
Molly is gonna be a firecracker

Thank you Joan!

Oh now JD! What are you doing to us? Lol. I can’t wait until the rest of the story!! I can relate to this little girl…..never having much & people always laughing at you & making fun of your clothes bc they were hand-me-downs. Thank the good Lord I’m past that. I know I asked you this before but didn’t see your answer. What is your book about? Blessings always & stay warm! ❤️✝️😊
My book is some of my favorite stories that I tell, and that were past down to me
@@TheAppalachianStoryteller Oh how awesome! I’m not on any PayPal or anything but can I buy your book & mail you a money order???? ❤️✝️😊
I really enjoyed this story-an insight into a different time and place but with a problem that was all too real growing up in a large family at a time when being free to express yourself was not known!
❤️
I've never understood why some parents play favorites like that. My siblings and I were raied by our grandparents, and they were always SO careful to make sure we were all treated equal.....at least in THEIR perception of equil. Most of us kids didn't see it as equil though, because they didn't take our different personalities into consideration when making decisions. That meant that, as a tomboy, I got what my girly girl sisters did instead of the Tonka trucks my brother got. But Daddy always made sure HE got us each what WE wanted, not what "all little girls" or "all little boys" wanted like our grandparents got us. That's how my brother ended up with a baby doll, and I got a microscope, a chemestry set, and an ant farm. Best. Birthday. Ever!
❤️
Oh I love this getting an ant farm sounds like it was fun! What year were you born? Wondering if ya got the chemistry set with the radioactive ‘rock’ ?
@@karenroot450 I got that in 1968 for my 10th birthday. Unfortunately my birthday is in the summer and the ants didn't survive the shipping in the hot weather, so Daddy got me sea monkeys instead. I also started a mold farm down in the basement so I could look at different molds under the microscope. Grandma went BALLISTIC when she found out, and made me get rid of them. 😂
Needless to say, Grandma and I didn't see eye to eye on much. She couldn't understand a girl who wasn't boy crazy, didn't like wearing makeup, and who only wanted to wear button down shirts or T-shirts, jeans and Keds. I think she thought I was a lesbian until I finely brought home a boyfriend at almost 17. He and I have been married for 46 years now. 😉
I love this story 💗
Thank you 😊
My story matches Molly in many ways. Her tell reminds me of the time I beat up my sisters new blue bike...she too had pretty curls 😂

It's a sad truth that so many children are wounded in one way or another by those who should love them the most. Many carry those scars the rest of their lives.

Thanks!
Thank you so much Connie! It’s small things like this that keeps this channel going, thank you so much ❤️
We have two children who are a year and a half apart, and all their possessions are in pairs. I was often treated unjustly as a child and am therefore very scrupulous to ensure that my little sprouts never feel as I did. (Splendid and evocative use of language, by the way! My compliments.)

Grownups should never compare children to anyone or anything... especially when they are so young and impressionable. Molly's mother seemed to have purposely hurt Molly with the doll and I can't really blame Molly for taking it out on the doll the way she did...
