In English there is no distinction, but in russian language itself, there is a distinction between a citizen of russia and ethnic russian - there are two distinct words: rossiyanin (citizen of russian federation, but can be of any ethnicity: russkiy, dagestani, chechen, buryat, ukrainian, etc.) and Russkiy (ethnicity). So, Ukrainians do not have a problem with Russkiy ethnicity, in fact there are many ethnic Russkis who live in Ukraine (much less since the full scale invasion in 2022, but still quite a few) and fight as part of the Ukrainian military against russian state and its supporters. Therefore, it is not "ironic" or whatever you implied with you comment, that Kostyuk, a Ukrainian, shook hands with an ethnic Russian (Russkaya) Rybakina - there is absolutely no problem doing that. Kostyuk is well aware of who Rybakina is and that she is a Kazakh citizen now and has nothing to do with the russian-Ukrainian war, unlike the citizens of russian federation regardless of what ethnicity they are. Hope that explains the situation. Not that most people are nuanced enough to care for the real situation instead of click-baits.
It is good to see, that most Ukranian sportsman/woman don't mix politics with sports (not shaking handls and all bs). Elena is graceful, Marta is pretty, both deserved to overtop the tournament.
I'd rathet not knowing how to drive rather than not having all those paychecks she's collecting week in week out lol. I'd be extremely happy to hire a driver any day so i can rest in the car
