- The legal racer Need For Speed title. This is Pro Street in 4k. Better than NFS Payback that's for sure.
Quite a change from previous NFS titles. Still enjoyable IMO. It looks decent enough. Good textures, nice scenery and the car models hold up nicely. Really nice models. The only downside of Pro Street is the lack of tracks. And the chase cameras that tremble at high speed. I wish there were more tracks. But other than that it's a nice NFS game with a good soundtrack too.

The one NFS game where going fast ACTUALLY FELT like you were going fast. At 300 km/h you literally couldn't control your car well.
at 400 you have to predict the car's path to even HOPE of winning the race. Speed races are mostly hope
Plz, its not that hard, you guys don't know how to properly tune the cars. With a proper tune the Porsche 911 Turbo can take the entire Nevada Highway flatout without any fear of flipping over, and the Pagani Zonda when fully upgraded and properly tuned is so OP on long circuits you literally only have to brake on two corners on Willow Springs. For short circuits I use the Impreza WRX because it changes directions better than the Zonda and its easier to control at low speeds
Vinícius Sales i did it with an 06' mustang. You just need to raise the suspensions and play in first person view. I know its not that hard i finished the game 4 times already and plans for a 5th are coming soon. Might do a let's play of it because everyone who plays this game does isn't that great

Funny how you guys says its easy and everything the AI does in high speed is roll or crash on poles. For me it was also easy. I just drove slowly till the end dodging the AI upside down cars on the way.
For 2007, this game is gorgeous.

As far as the car culture goes, this is the one game to actually hit the nail on the head. I played this game for years when I was probably seven until now. Like most games turn out, I expected the real car scene to be nothing like pro street. I recently took my 2015 STi to import face off in Hebron Ohio and I could not believe it. My first organized car event and it was EXACTLY like pro street. The music, cars with their hoods up, guys checking them out, the racing, the sounds, the funny announcer, the girls... In the end, I got to live out my childhood dream with no disappointments whatsoever, a strange mix of nostalgia and discovery, all thanks to NFS.
No doubt, this game was created by real car enthusiats
I don't understand all this bad comments about need for speed prostreet. Who said that nfs must be game about illegal races? That game was a little diffrent but I think that need for speed needed fresh breath and prostreet has given it.
Totally agree, bad comments are mostly dumb kids who never properly played it and hated it due remembering these terrible URL races from Underground 2. In light of what we're getting it's actually the best NFS in the franchise, it has all the best features still in(especially the split screen on consoles) great tuning capabilities with autosculpt and better vinyl editor(only wrap editor from NFS2015/Payback is slightly better, but that's literally the only thing that is so).
Sound, fine tuning, gameplay and graphics were amazing - yes it wasnt possible to keep the gas depressed and win everything with little to no effort like before but it's good. It was a better AI for a change, we also got back the racers that reccur through the career line in Undergound 1 instead of stream of randoms in everyrace, with only few badguys who appears through the career. Drifting was a bit stiff but at the same time finally it was realy drifting and not powersliding or just.....sliding(like UG1-2 and Carbon were). Drag racing was great and finally we didnt have this bullshit with overheating at last gear.
Sound design and autosculpt survived till Undecover(EA trax was gone same as teh split screen, except for the PS2 version) it was rushed out to release far to quickly and was hated even more......so it wasnt about illegal street racing......later it was a downfall of the series, Shift's were fine but they were all out sims, i enjoyed it for a bit but it felt dull in comparison to ProStreet. It didnt have the atmosphere and style that PS had.
When Criterion arrived, it was over, game devolved completely, we got terrible handling and physics, graphic's porn and complete lack of previous features, and it still stays the same after Payback's release, it's horrendous.
ProStreet well deserves the praise it now starts to get from people who actually played it and know how good it was, screw all these moronic kids who didnt even try it. They just dont know what they are talking about...

What game have you been playing exactly? It's fucking HORRIBLE! Even this guy playing is all over the place! It would've been a great game with 6 more months of development. This fucking game lags on speed events all the time. I have an i7 3770 GTX 980 8GB RAM and I'm running it on a fucking SSD! All for nothing! Still lags as if my PC was a potato. Always lags on long turns and I always end up totaled in a ditch.
EA balck box fucked up because EA the publisher rushed them to finish the game on November. I really hope EA games bankrupts and won't be the publisher of any development company EVER!

This is game made me hate the NFS fanbase. This game had its flaws but was still such a good game its almost ridiculous how much people hated it and only for the wrong reasons. Most people only hated it because it wasn't another Underground or Most wanted. If it were for those people, the nfs team could literally release 10 new underground or most wanted games with almost little to no changes and they would still be bought and loved by most people because of nostalgia. Prostreet came excactly at the right time, where actual NFS fans who already cared about the series before UG had grown tired of all the UG-like titles. Carbon was good but brought almost nothing new to the table and after it came out i was already sick of the whole nighttime illegal street racing theme. Prostreet was the needed change at the time but most ug/mw fanboys hated it and thanks to that the next NFS title was undercover, a basically worse most wanted but the fanboys still liked it. A need for speed game doesn't need a open world, nighttime-only, or cops chasing you to be good. Older NFS titles didn't have those things and they were still good games. I'm sure if most people actually looked at the game itself and not just at the things it doesn't have or doesn't try to do, that they would actually see what a great nfs it was.
So? What's wrong with the handling? And don't tell me it's "too realistic" because it's not.

Para mim, a idéia do jogo como um todo é incrível... Corridas legalizadas, uma quantidade interessante de carros e pistas e eventos relativamente criativos. O grande problema deste jogo está relacionado com a física em alta velocidade e a física no drift. Tirando estes dois pequenos problemas, o jogo se mostra muito interessante.
The urban style, the entire phere of what the game was giving me was just brilliant.
The music is just stuck with me. All that grinding and time for costumizing that I put into this game just makes it one of my most favorite titles in the racing genre.

I completed this game 100%. There's nothing wrong with it, graphics and car tunning are unbelievable. A lot of things are different from other nfs but everything was finished properly (no poor development). The fact that the game wasn't based on the streets made people quit the game without giving it a chance! I think that if EA would just put as much effort as they put in this game, they would still be great. The only thing poor in this game is that smoke effect ^^

This game was nicely varied, had a good sim/arcade balance, great soundtrack, and even had decent damage modelling.

If you have a perfect tuning for speed challenge is easy.
But there is a catch, not all the cars are good for speed challenge, stability and top speed are the key yo win.
Even in tier 4 theres a couple of competitive builds and cars, not all of them.
@@RetroWave510 CCX exists in files but not used in release version and i have it,it sticks to ground and goes 400kph all the way.I just installed lvl3 parts and stock autosculpt bodykit for downforce.

The handling was on point in this game. Perfect arcade racer for a car enthousiast. The game aged really well. Had loads of fun dominating grip races without assists
The smoke graphics were really good in this game haven't seen any other game with better smoke graphics
Funny thing: if you turn off visual damage in the game, it becomes a lot harder to actually receive performance related damage (light, heavy damage). Car still is totaled if its hard enough of an impact or flips and lands on its roof (good old Ebisu and Nevada). Also the speed event tracks in Ebisu are called Fukushima A,B,C.
I don’t think many modern racing games will ever have engine sounds as good as ProStreet’s.
You should be saying as realistic. Because nfs pro street used genuine sounds for all the cars.

Physics were good, with proper fine tuning you could corner very well, it just needed braking once in a while and often to let of the gas on corners. Main reason some many of these retarded kiddies hated it were terribly executed URL track races in Underground 2, too long, monotone, easy and boring(it was literally getting once ahead and doing like 5 laps and then another 5 laps and then another 5 laps, with not so challenging ai, handling wasnt too demanding) AI in Underground 2 was also horrible which made it even worse.
ProStreet was challenging but fun, had great atmosphere with great soundtrack too.
It's also last game in series to feature EA Trax and Splitscreen on consoles.....

guess you'll need to hold off on your butt in any drift events then, like the brakes barely working should you need to switching angles

It was one of the few things EA got absolutely right with this game. The sounds, the smoke, the cars, the girls
One big problem I had with this game were the grip races. I used 350Z and EvoIX and my goodness, in lower gears they couldn't steer right even if my life depended on it. AI just slides through the tight corners like nothing. Ryo kept on dominating me with his time trial Tokyo race unless I smashed passed him with Evo like crazy.
Other than that, all of your points stand still. I should also point out that this game has the greatest drifting mechanic I had ever seen in any NFS game. You truly feel like YOU are the one drifting in a car, rather than Ryan Cooper. All in all, my personal favourite NFS of all period.
Also, those mourning for speed events being difficult, learn to steer and slow down on the bumps or tune the car to reduce the bumps.
Regarding Ryo's grip type events: You can beat him easily even in the time trial with a maxxed out 911 Turbo. Idk how he is in v1.1 as I only have v1.0. Also on the speed events, just try out different cars, some need less tuning to not jump than others. Like e.g. the Audi TT I tried maxxed out, it reached 402 kmh w/ some drafting and on the notorious nevada jumps the TT never even left the asphalt. The Skyline R34 was way more happy to catch some air there xD. Also if you know where the jumps of certain speed event tracks are, you can easily avoid them/slow down for them.

You can't compare this game to the other titles you just simply can't. This game has a league of it's own and i will always have a special place in my heart for this one.
This is one of my favorite games. First had it in Wii (ya shame) but went out a bought it to play on my Xbox.... despite what everyone says; yes this isn’t “traditional” Need For Speed but it was still a very well made game and got to be a real challenge as you went on in the game and these days I feel like all the levels are too easy...

This game had potential, especially because of its more simcade handling model. A second entry could have made it a really good game.
But a horrible interface, underwhelming optimization, and the fact the so-called "fans" that liked Underground were mad that this game wasn't a F&F ripoff and that it properly punished ricing, made it a failure.

This and Carbon were the first Need for Speed games I bought, (both on PC). I really enjoyed this game when it came out. It was definitely the most realistic racing game that you could buy at the time. The graphics were incredible back then, and still look great now. My favorite part of Pro Street is the sense of speed you get when you're driving on the long, straight highways.
A huge reason why i love this game apart being a HUGE part of my childhood is the physics 5:04 oversteer boi

I know about this game since 2007 when I was little, I was gonna get NFS Pro Street for PS2 but back in 2009 I ended up having NFS Undercover and Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance, Deception and Armageddon for PS2
This game was very well made
It had good soundtrack,atmosphere,customization and you actually need to learn/get used to the physics to play...this is basically the only arcade nfs where you need some decent driving skills and tuning (not only upgrades).customization was great at its time especially with the autosculp.ea trax is still there.car list was very good altough it could have more cars.the graphics of this game still looks beautiful.and i love the weekend trackday style of the game and SPLITSCREEN the most important part of the game

Too bad it isn't a popular taste and newer games just don't have the excitement I had with this one.
This game’s presentation was fantastic. It has better cosmetic damage than Forza and GT even now, and bite me for saying this but it’s tire smoke is arguably the best on the market minus pc mods.

NFS ProStreet is awesome! No need for hate comments on it! It was probably my most favourite NFS game of all time next to Underground 1 + 2, NFS Most Wanted 2005 and NFS Carbon! The early 2000's and mid 2000's really were the best years for Need For Speed games.
I remember this game distracted us for a group project back in high school. Remember I had this highly modified EVO that was faster than a Bugatti. GPUs at the time couldn't keep up with that power! LoL.

More tracks? Have you try Leipzig and Tokyo Expressway that came with new cars (including a Bugatti Veyron) as DLC called the Booster Pack? You should get it. Also you can turn that off. There's a video where it teaches you about turning off that camera shaking.
That gameplay looks beautiful. This game is one of my favorites in the series, I can totally relate this game to those grassroots motorsports events where all the competitors cars are different. All those kids who says this game sucks because it's not illegal racing and it doesn't have cops? Well those kids definitely didn't play this all the way until the end or they probably suck at playing this game or they're just not interested on legal races. Just saying.

For those who didnt like this game was it because it wasnt another most wanted or underground? Yea I liked those games but to me this game proved you can just as much fun on the streets and track, wasnt everyone liking but it tools skill for sure in these races. Plus compared to what we have now I'll take this, better cars, tuning and engine noises too, sounds literally to die for.
this right here is better than any of the new car racing games, all they gotta do is re-release the older need for speeds with better graphics and they're sorted.

I was 11 in 2007, that tire smoke was such a thing... damn it still is, didnt see that good smoke in a racing game yet.
I really really wish they would remake this whole game. This game was ahead of it's time for sure from the physics to the graphics (remember this game came out in 2007) it could've used alittle better drift physics but it was still really good for the time. I would buy a remaster in a heartbeat. But if they could just revisit this whole idea of the game i'd buy it, if done right. All it needs is the same basic story of the race disciplines and mastering them to take down the king's and queen. But go more in depth with it showing their faces maybe some backstory not a complete copy but really close to the same Prostreet was. I like the new games but the whole street outlaw thing is getting stale. This game stands out to me as one of the best NFS games to date but it sadly doesn't get the recognition. If it just had a decent developer behind it with the graphics and physics we have today it would be an amazing game. But sadly it will most likely never happen 😔. One can dream though.

Some parts, yes. The road reflections and skyboxes, as well as the general environment lighting is gorgeous. Needs more actual, physical grass though. The weakest point would be car reflections.
I'd love to see this game be remastered, or have a Prostreet 2. Won't happy, but we can always dream.
