    Keep in mind that the start forge ability not only triggers the mech ability but also the commander since you spend the token from your strategy pool. That makes it a lot more economic.

    • @jaystrickland4151
      @jaystrickland4151 Před 3 lety +4

      Correct, also if you have multiple mechs in or adjacent then each mech gets infantry. So a command token for 2 fighters and 4 infantry that can be worth it and game changing on your home system or Mecatol end game.

    Remember everyone, it explicitly states that the Ghost of Creuss delta wormhole is not a home system. Nothing stopping from replacing it with the superior Muaat supernova.

      On the one hand that's so evil! On the other hand, if they are in the lead you just prevented anyone from being able to take their home system.

    • @thomasloodts5977
      @thomasloodts5977 Před 3 lety +3

      This would mostly just help the gost player. Having an unreachable home system is extreemly good and if they wanted to leave their home sytem they could just build their flagship or generate a wormhole.

      This was never a sound tactical move but to the nay sayers I offer this extra bit of the delta wormhole. Their flagship contains a delta wormhole and if I am remebering how this can work a non ghost player with lightwave deflectors, enabling your ships to move through systems containing other players ships, and enough movement can go theough their flagship to their home system.

    Played these guys for the first time this weekend and ended up in 2nd place with them. The combination of their Agent, Commander, and Mech are amazing. Didn't get to use Nova Seed, but I threatened a lot of people with it, so that still counts.

    Do keep in mind the stack ability / synergy of starforce! I wasnt a big fan of it either before POK, but now it is first of all a stall, than you can build destroyer or fighter, you'll get a tradegood and if you have two mechs around you'll also get two free infantery! Which makes you're starforce worthy of three resources in general. Aka the cost of a token. And that in my humble opinion is definitly worth it, since you'll be producing without activating and you're also stalling. Couple that with Umbat you'd basicly could have a dread, couple of destroyers and a fighterscreen and a bunch of infantery laying around your warsun without ever having to activate any of it.
    If you're able to get a hold of mecatol you'll also have two extra tokens at your disposal, meaning per round two stalls, 2 destroyers or 4 fighters and four infantery. The economics behind it really line up rather well actually.

    3rd time playing and I decided to try these guys out. Only the 2nd race I ever played. It caused absolute chaos, the game took 13hrs and we had to split it between 2 days. I almost won with these guys, needed 1 point left, would’ve been my 1st time wining, but lost cause someone cheated (we found out later) was not disappointed playing as them tho. Blowin up a whole system and having those warsuns was beautiful. Will play them again

  • @barnabyalsop5601
    @barnabyalsop5601 Před 3 lety +3

    Nova Seed is going to give the Embers a nice edge because opponents won't want to clump their fleets together - which makes it easier for the Ember warsuns to mop them up. Super scary power.
    The agent is also excellent, definitely a turn 1 play to produce another carrier with infantry; the agent also makes a lone warsun not 'alone' any more - also scary.
    The commander synergises nicely with the Star Forge power, so combined with the mech you are gaining a decent amount for your command token compared to before.
    Overall I think the Embers gained a good deal; the upgrades further cement them as the 'warsun faction', and make them far more reliable in the early game.

    Played my first POK game a week ago with these! Especially love their high utility agent and hero, but I lacked influence most of the game so I never felt like using those few tokens on Star forge or Ember colossus. Overall, Nova seed with Magmus reactor is pretty threatening and you can basically claim a tile for yourself by sweeping away your opponent at the same time.

    Embers opening move. Take diplomacy. First action play agent produce 1 carrier and 1 destroyer in home system ( 1 infantry if one of your neighboring planets is a 3 planet system or if highest resource neighboring planet is 2 resources). Second action take highest resource neighboring planet and other planets in system ( assume warsun with 2 infantry and 1 fighter). If someone suggests rushing tech remind them you will play diplomacy and give them the ability to spend 6 for two tech. Play diplomacy refresh home system and highest resource planet. When tech is popped research sarween tools. Hopefully warfare is popped at some point in which case you should follow and build 1 carrier and 1 infantry ( or just the carrier if your highest resource planet is 2). Once the dust settles you should have between 5 and 7 planets. If your neighbor has taken trade and you get unstable fuel source you may want to send a destroyer for trade at some point as well.

      @RulebreakerBoardgames  Před 2 lety

    The main thing that really busts my chose about this faction is how the flagship does not synergize at all with starforge.
