Hi, nice of you to make this tutorial. The pronunciation would be approximately like 'Buul' or "Puuluuc'. The 'u' in Bul would be similar to a long 'u' (as in 'look'), not as long and in 'Puluc' it is a short 'u' that sounds exactly like the long 'u' ('look') but shorter. :)
Also, the reason information in Western civilization is scant is not because of weather, but the destruction of written Mesoamerican records and the disruption of oral traditions elsewhere- very few pre-conquest and immediate post-conquest records remain. It is important to clarify this ;)
