Yeah, Rainbow Giovanni would fit the bill better as he operates by making deals to strengthen his position. Probably the best example is in the climax of the Villain story in Masters: he dismantles Paulo's scheme by offering him a deal, then offering another to Hoopa after the former rejects him.
Not only does this one move cause every single legendary controlled by Hoopa to work for Giovanni, Team Break also ditches Paulo to join Team Rocket. He then twists the knife by pointing out that not only could Paulo have easily had an opportunity to take him out by pretending to join forces, his ultimate plan was doomed to fail because you can't get rid of all evil forever.

Pity no Dresden Files references, it's got two great examples of various bits. Gentleman John Marcone is "what if Xanatos was a mob boss instead of a CEO", pretty much the second best magnificent bastard after the big guy himself. But then you also have Nicodemus, a great example of the "pretends to be a magnificent bastard" version where he tries very hard to project that image, and likely even believes himself to be one, but when his schemes start to crack or her gets caught off guard, you see how much that is just an act.

If you seen FMA but dropped Brotherhood 3 episodes in, I think I know why. FMA followed the Manga very well up to a key point (where the caught up with it) then went off on its intercepts vertion. Brotherhood wanting to stick to Manga but assumed you watched FMA speed runned up to that key point to limit covering the same ground so it first few episodes are actually weaker.
Basically watch FMA to episodes 25, then pick up FMA:B at episodes 10 and you get the best vetions of the story

    • @RhiKlowho
      @RhiKlowho Před 9 dny +1

Technically Brotherhood didn't rush the first 15 episodes because they were already covered by FMA it was following the pace of the manga which was rather fast especially compared to FMA. It only skipped 3 chapters when adapting that section of the story; the mining town, the battle on the train, and streamlined the events in Dublin.

It surprised me when I saw it but, in a lot of cases, the Joker is considered to be a legitimate super genius. Expert chemist and biologist, designing and building complex machinery and robotics. Heck, one of his most iconic modern scenes is completely outsmarting Luthor, only to let him & the legion live, saying that whatever the Joker-Batman does to them will be far worse.

Anti-villain, someone who does good deeds for bad reasons, this often requires a secret evil objective, or just covering up their normal operations, like how organised crime will make life easier for the communities around them, for their protected communities, to the point where the communities don't even see their actions as nefarious.
An anti-villain, could be better described as a realistic villain, many companies and people do great deeds, for awful reasons, like empires building roads, rails, canals, schools, police forces, advanced agriculture, utilities like communication lines (internet, phone, telegraph) or necessities water, electricity, shelter... But the end goal is resource extraction and exploitation of the people, there's a lot of good being done, but the reasons are practically evil, a few decades down the line, and the empire leaves, and the country left behind is screwed, all the easy to access resources are extracted, all the lands have been over-farmed to destruction (dustbowl style).
Yeah, anti-villains are like empires, personified.

As for _Brotherhood_ it's very common to bonce off, mostly because it's so explicitly made for people who know the story from the original and will treat the 1st half as a whistle stop recap; I mean, even the synopsis spoils the 1st major mystery.
The original's certainly not perfect, but it was regarded as the most successful series of all time for a reason and it's generally agreed that it handles the 1st half much better, even if there are some problems with simply trying to watch half of each.

So i just got an idea for a villain: Basically imagine someone who SEEMS like a magnificent bastard on the surface, but it's actually a facade to hide his true nature, an extremely desperate, scared individual, that while intellectual, NEEDs to accomplish his goal, and needs his minions to help him. However because of circumstances, if they figure out his true nature, they will kill him. So basically, in public he will be this slick, smooth intellectual charismatic villain, but behind closed doors, he is an emotional nervous wreck, constantly trying to pull stuff out of his ass, because he is having trouble actually coming up with ways to counteract his plans being foiled. Sure he is intelligent, but not extremely intelligent. And while at first he may seem like the typical manipulative bastard to both the charaters and the audience, soon both will see his true nature. From his lies getting worse throughout the story, to his emotions and desperation leaking through. ...Could a villain like this work?

Batman never fully committed to being part of the JLA. That was made clear in the Tower of Babel storyarc where Ras Al'Ghul assembles a group of villains to lethally take down the members of the Justice League. It gets revealed that Ras Al'Ghul had broken into the Bat Cave, copied down Bruce's plans to neutralize each member of the Justice League in the event they went crazy and made them lethal. Once the members of the Justice League are saved and the villains defeated, the members of the Justice League tell Batman that they would never make up plans to neutralize any other member, Batman says "Then you are all fools." and leaves.
Despite being a founding member of the JLA, Batman never fully committed to the team and even concocted multiple contingency plans in the event any of the other heroes ever went out of control.
They made an animated movie based off of Tower of Babel called Doom, they changed Ras Al'Ghul to Vandal Savage. Doom stayed fairly true to Tower of Babel, the villains use lethal options to neutralize the various members of the JLA, the heroes find out that these were actually plans stolen from the Bat Computer that Batman had concocted in the event any members of the JLA ever went crazy and modified to be lethal, the heroes get saved, the villains get defeated, the JLA tells Batman that they would never concoct plans to neutralize each other, Batman tells them they are fools for not doing so and leaves.

Would... would Kurumi Tokisaki count? TV Tropes thinks she does, and she consistently stays the same seductive goth girl that's very (rightfully) confident about her powers and extremely willing to murder for her goals through the whole series, but also, she actively shows off several vulnerabilities in her actual villain arc.
    1) She loves animals, namely cats. Her primary targets are (would-be) ræpists... and animal abusers, with the former being her _actual_ main target and the others just getting shot up because they pissed her off by kicking kittens around in her vicinity.
    2) She doesn't cope well with someone thinking she can be saved or fixed. When Shido claimed she isn't beyond saving, she immediately tried to reaffirm that stance by effectively nuking the school with a spacequake. Only reason she couldn't was because Kotori stopped her.
    3) On the topic of Kotori, when she began going berserk, Kurumi... kinda froze up. This is eventually revealed to be a result of trauma, since the former user of Camael was her best friend that she personally had to kill, leaving her unable to fight effectively against a user of Camael's power ever again.
Notably, her goals actually affirm her magnificence. Her ultimate goal is to go back in time and kill the Spirit of Origin before any other spirits were created, thus retconning any spirit-related casualties out of existence. However, her time powers eat up her lifespan, and thus she needs to steal the "time" of _a lot of people_ to pull this off or else she'll die in the process. The moment that Shido and his ridiculous amount of spirit power came into the picture, she decided to "eat" _him_ because that would spare the most lives. Very much a "needs of the many" sort of mentality. The thing that affirms her magnificence here is that "spirit-related casualties" actually includes her own murders that she performed in the name of this goal, meaning that if she succeeded, she would've never become the Worst Spirit.

But, to contrast with that Relatable trait. He's also an obvious Disgusting person who....... How do I put it ?
"Wants to Diddle Rom and Ram who are Canonically children"
So, Obviously you don't want to Like CFW Trick
However there is another character who is morally Just but joins a Group of Criminals to work.
CFW Brave, an Honorable man/Machine who just wants to have the best for Children to have have fun with games

Airier YOU NEED TO WATCH Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood. It's good! Like really really good. Like I've watched over 800 anime and that is one of the best ones ever made.
And fair warning: You will cry while watching it! And you will love it! Or hate! Or both :3
    WATCH IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Robotnik gets set off too easily by Sonic's taunts and his own failures.
The only one that could MAYBE count is the one from SATAM (and by proxy his Archie comic equivalent), but most modern versions don't really reach the bar.

Having played as a Malkavian character with the Vampire world, I can assure you that if your plan is complex and hard enough to grasp to the other player... it comes off as completely unpredictable chaos despite being a clear plan with a set objective.

Not to be confused with the Magnetic Bastard, such as Magneto or Heisenberg from Resident Evil 7 (AKA Homeless Magneto)
