Thanks! looks like I did a great job sealing my oil pan. Too good. Hope this solves the problem!
I usually use a gasket scraper like the ones you showed but that special tool I need to get!
Thank you 🙏
I'm dealing with this nightmare now on my Dodge Avenger 40TES 4-Speed automatic transmission. Thanks for posting.
Flat Rate Master.. I like that Lisle tool, I will be looking into that one. Can't tell ya how many hours wasted trying to straighten out oil pans and valve cover because they are bent and leaking because the customer didn't want to spend the money to replace them.. I won't do the job now unless it's replaced.
I just get a new pan. puncture the one in the car with an air hammer and shove a big old pry bar in it and heave it off, most oil pans r required to be replaced now after removal anyways.
Underaged tool for this is a plastic scraper meant for taking wheel weights off. They're thick so they don't usually break and do well at separating. Will never damage any parts and are cheap to replace as I usually sharpen them on a grinder they get shorter over time
I Own The Tool From Toyota I’ve Had it For 20 Years Since Working For Lexus It’s The Only Way To Remove The Oil Pans Sealed By RTV 😀😊😀❤️❤️❤️😊 I Love Toyota’s
I utilize the flat scraper that’s solid end to end. Chrysler stamped metal transmission pans is the same setup and never had a problem resealing engine, transmission and diff covers…
Thanks for sharing, about to buy one myself 👌🏽
Lots of neat little tools
Cool.... never saw that. Nice upgrade from the lady's foot.
Chrysler technicians made the price on these types of oil pans go up. 🔨 🔨 🔨.
Heating the flange with the 15$ heat gun worked well for me.
"This is a gasket scraper from Snap On" .... otherwise known as a $4 rigid putty knife from the hardware store. 😆
You mean dollar store?
Mine is leaking a ridiculous amount, and the SOB wont come off! Thanks for the info, I got one of the tools
love it buddy
As the Lisle blade seems to be screwed on, can you unbolt it and turn it upside down, so the blade curves downward, like the OEM tool?
Yes you can
Ford 2.7 v6 plastic pans are auwfull, even following the Ford sib it’s nearly impossible to get them to seal,we had one that we had to order a custom gasket for and that finally sealed it.
Thanks for the heads up
You're not supposed to re-use them. If you check the wsm, its listed as a 1 use part.
@@AT-wl9yq The pan or the gasket? Referring to one use...
@@TonupTodd The pan itself.
heat gun then malet right on the drain plug leave 2 screws in by few threads so it don’t fly off.
The current pictures of the JTC-1315 on Amazon looks like it has a taper ground edge on both sides of the blade. Is yours only ground on the top side?
Could you unbolt that Lisle scraper and flip it over to be curved up?
A bonded windscreen removal tool is brilliant for removing them and cheap
just ordered the tool. Lots of different versions of same tool on amazon
you cant beat cork and leather gasket jobs on old cars 1950s-1980 lol then came out the worst gasket's card the one's you made your self god help you if ended up with one of those which is so stuck you hours scraping it of but the engine pans was a lot thicker to pry on (ford escort mk1-mk2 straight 4 cross flow engine or ford capri v4-v6)good old days as a Y.T.S lad.
who remembers Y.T.S YOUTH TRAINING SCHEME LOL,👍🏻 should bring them back to learn a trade 🇬🇧❤️☕
do you recommend to replace with OEM oil pan or upgrade to something better/thicker for personal use. Mine is stamped sheet metal (F150) and getting damp
Stamped sheet metal is stronger than you think. Stick with it
Is the Lisle one made in USA?
I don’t know the original oem, but the only one of those tools I see. Like that was a international tool when I worked at the dealer for 7.3 oil pan.

Hey long time viewer of your channel. Very good content. I have a question about how techs get paid.
I work at a shop. My flag rate is 32.32/ hr., I do good work, my manager tells me I'm getting transferred to a smaller store and the master tech there sucks. So I'll take over, they tell me my pay will change to TOTAL TICKET VALUE. NO one will tell me about it, I feel like I will be getting smaller checks now, do you know about TOTAL TICKET value?
Thank you.
Hey got a update on your pay plan ? Back in the day total ticket value when I started the split was 50% of the total labor ( I lucked out on my first tech job because the owner still payed that even though it wasn't the norm any longer ) but I doubt that's the case in this situation.
Kent-Moore makes it GM it’s an essential tool
👍👍
I've never seen those tools before.
GM states in SI to always replace the pan.
Good video bud. I've killed my self yesterday for a good 7 hours
4.7 dodge v8 where they make the gasket part of the windage tray pretty much and they seal it with what seems like windshield adhesive, it's strong.. nightmare IMO
Bin there done that
Most of the time the service
writer is to scared to sell the pan
Even though the pan is FUBR after the process.
What no heat gun? No yellow butane torch? Don’t be skeeered????
First 3 minutes are useless
