  • Season 2 Episode 4:
An episode dedicated to the late, great Mick Karn.
From his start with post-punk band Japan, to his collaborations with Gary Numan, Peter Murphy, and his old bandmate David Sylvian, we track Mick's growth as an artist and his continuing efforts to expand the palette for bass players.
A challenging listen to be sure, but well worth your time!

It's because Mick was a singular talent. In the 80s , the older guys and instructors that were teaching us teens to play bass were the "Jaco generation " . We youngsters were definitely in awe, but Japan , and Mick were more contemporary to our ears. Mick , Pino , Mark King....these were the guys we were trying to be like. And now that we're in our 50s , and with the advent of streaming services and CZcams, we can finally share this stuff. Some of Micks later work , like JBK were hard to find. Mick's reputation is finally having a renaissance, with players young and old discovering or rediscovering him....
