his mother dressed him up as a girl to avoid the army. He wore a red wig, and was called PYRRHA, which means fire-colored hair.
Fun fact: Ruby's dog paws when she zips ahead of Weiss are left over from her design concept when she was going to be part dog Faunus -- because she's Red Riding Hood, she was going to also have a bit of the wolf.
Also, in that last bit we see the Beowolf redesign, with more bone-like detail added since they were just black monsters in the Red Trailer.

Nora Valkyrie is my favorite character. She's based on Thor, who dressed up as Freya to trick Laufey, who had stolen his hammer. Her friend, Lie Ren, is based on Fa Mulan, and Pyrra Nikos is based on Achillies, who was disguised as a girl as a child.
Fun fact they actually made Pumpkin Pete’s cereal and I had 2 boxes of it, it looks just like it did in the show except she’s not moving. It’s basically just Lucky charms from their universe.
Every time Ozpin speaks, I always remember how much of a madlad he is. This episode is a perfect example.

Episode 4:
Fact 1: Blake Belladonna was not seen in this episode or listed in the credits. However Kerry Shawcross posted an image on Twitter saying that Blake was "in the back", with an arrow pointing to one of the silhouettes in the background.
Also, while Blake was not shown directly in this episode, her silhouette in the album art for her song, "From Shadows", is seen during the ending credits.
Fact 2: Jaune's locker number is 636, a reference to the address of Rooster Teeth Productions at the time.
Fact 3: Nora is seen holding a tube of Shi-nee Toothpaste. In the brand name, the "S" is red and the remaining letters are blue, similar to the real world "Crest" brand logo. A Schnee snowflake appears on the end of the tube. Crest frequently uses a starburst on their products, and a snowflake could be a possible reference to the Schnee Dust Company.
Fact 4: Monty Oum stated that Jaune is speared by Pyrrha in the locker room to establish that she can do this without killing him, and that it's an OK thing between them. This makes it less contrived when Pyrrha spears him to help him during the Beacon Initiation.
Fact 5: Yang's sunglasses are an homage to the film Top Gun.

Fact 1: The doodles that appear in Ruby's head were made by Jordan Cwierz, who draws the Rooster Teeth Animated Adventures.
Fact 2: According to the DVD commentary, Blake was intentionally not shown landing because they needed to trim the scene.

One thing to note is that every team has a theme. Ren is the one in the green and voiced by the creator of the series till he passed away.
Pyrrha is Achilles. In Achilles's legend, he actually cross dressed and went by the name Pyrrha. 🥺
Watching this again and knowing what comes in the future, I'm actually surprised as to how often they really DO need a Landing Strategy in the show. First time I watched it I thought it was silly, but no.

Jaun Arc's mythical base is pretty easy to find out i mean its actually in his name "Jaune De Arc" Pyrhha, Nora, and Ren are harder to figure out, two of them you should be able to figure out by the end of a later volume
Their team's theme is mythical/fantastical figures who have crossdressed and/or identified opposite of their birth gender! Their inspirations are the opposite gender of the characters themselves :)

Jaune is based off of Joan of Arc (Joan identified as a woman and wore womans clothing instead of mens)
Nora is based off of Thor (Dressed as a bride to trick an ice giant into letting his guard down)
And Ren is based off of Mulan! (Mulan dressed as a man to join the army and defend her families honor and help her country)

Last video you were comparing characters to their referenced counter parts. One thing you may not have picked up on is the Wizard of Oz theme. Glenda Goodwich being Glenda the Good Witch, Professor Ozpin being Oz, and the Emerald Forest instead of the Emerald City. So keep an eye out for other Wizard of Oz references in the future. (Hint, they involve the schools)

Since I know you're ahead, you can say team JNPR is the genderbent band of mythological/historical figures. At least Pyrrha and Jaune's are since we know Thor and Mulan are not actual people.
Cardin was the other guy off to the side he's inspired by Henry Beaufort the Cardinal of Winchester who presided over the execution of Joan of Arc after the leader of France betrayed her and she was handed over to the Catholic church to be tried as a heretic. She sadly lost her life at the trial and was burned alive. However, later on she was posthumously cleared of all charges as the trial was regarded as a farce and a deceitful act by The Pope at the time(Callixtus III I think his name was) and some Clergymen in the Church who saw that what had happened was disgusting and deplorable. She was made into a saint and despite dying at a young age, she inspires France to this day and for her part, she did help France(In spirit) liberate itself from England after The English were defeated at the battle of Castillon which ended The Hundred Years' War in favor of France. All of this from a 19 year old peasant girl who gave one of the strongest nations at the time a significant pause to their dominance.

I waited to see how well you two take in the the first chapters of RWBY to say hi......
So many have told you a lot about the show so far, so I'll not repeat them. lol But, two things I do want to point out. One is the animation itself. Monty Oum worked on this while he and most of Rooster Teeth was focused on their hit series, Red vs Blue!! So, the animation was pretty basic but still very well done. It improved in Volume 2 and every Volume since has the series was a huge hit from the start!
The other thing is the fandom. The RWBYverse is very impassioned, almost Major Anime-type impassioned!! That said, some will be opinionated about how the series goes as you go along. Please take them with a grain of salt and enjoy the journey has you see it!

They already have 9 episodes made if u look at there specific RWBY playlist so its all down to how often they wanna release them.
Right now we have once a week. We film ahead for early access for patrons. Possibility of two a week later down the line. But we have another channel we do content for as well and day jobs 😅

If assuming u are gonna watch all 8 seasons then there is over 100 episodes in total of RWBY. I hope this dident come of as just release more faster becouse that was definatly not the intention. However this question/request is very likly gonna keep popping up becouse of how long the show is and how short some of the episodes can be even with 2 of them combined.

Rewatched this series not too long ago my girlfriend and she loved it, probably my favourite show
When L Frank Baum wrote The Wizard of Oz, the wizard's name was Oz Pinhead. Now we have Ozpin, Headmaster. Also, most people say Ruby is Red Ridinghood, which is true, but she has a double role as Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz - originally Dorothy wore silver slippers (silver eyes) but that was changed in the 1930s movie to ruby slippers to demonstrate the bright new Technicolor aspect of the movie. Pyrrha is nearly invulnerable except for her ankle - hmmmm.
Strictly speaking, the Wizard's *initials* were "O.Z.P.I.N.H.E.A.D.", from his full name "Oscar Zoroaster Phadrig Isaac Norman Henkel Emmanuel Ambroise Diggs".

Woohoo! I love RWBY's semi b-team cast, and they can be a little harder to nail with their fairytale/myth/historical allusions so I'll put their last names in here too for a bit of help; Jaune Arc, Nora Valkyrie, Pyrrha Nikos, and Lie Ren (but he just goes by Ren). All of their allusions have something in common from the stories their pulled from btw. And don't let the obvious allusion over shadow the larger ones for Nora and Pyrrha (hint: let their last names be a jumping off point for their main allusions).
Second thing, those monsters we saw surrounding Wiess at the end where just 1 type of species of the Creatures of Grimm and each type has a name with allusions too, so the wolf-like Grimm is called a "Beowolf". I love the naming of the Grimm just as much as the naming and allusions of the characters.

Before I go into historical and etymology stuff, I must say the most BASIC reasoning for why its named Beowolf, mind you not "Beowulf", is to be a play on the name "Beowulf". While the popularized version of Beowulf we know today means bear in Old English, there are several recorded examples of its etymology possibly coming from other stories, myths, and mistranslations between languages; but I won't bore you with it all. Now, to be fair the literal translation of "beowulf" would be "bee-wolf" due to the fact that the word "bear" had not been coined by the ancient northern Europeans, and soon to be Anglo Saxons, yet and the bears probably looked like very bulky wolves to them. The point is, the people who made the word "beowulf" were the ones who mistook bears for wolves that were attacking beehives for honey, because they were still learning from their surroundings and creating a language along the way. Not to mention, most people don't know, and don't care, about that fact and just hear "wolf" from Beowulf (Beowolf in the show) and just think of a wolf. For my last point, I had said in my comment "I love the naming of the Grimm" which is simply my opinion, and I didn't ask for your's or force mine upon anyone else.

Fun facts: Jaune, Nora, Pyrrha and Ren are gender bent versions of their inspirations. Jaune Arc is Joan of arc, Nora Valkyrie is Thor, Lie Ren is Mulan and Imma leave it up to you to guess Pyrrha's, hint: Greek Mythology.
The 4 main girls are based off classic fairytales: Ruby is Little Red Riding Hood, Weiss is Snow White, Yang is Goldilocks and Blake's is a little tricky, you'll have to watch more to fully guess her inspiration.
Another cool fact is that every character we'll meet, their first names all mean a colour (Ozpin is the exception). For example, Ruby = Red, Yang means sunshine I think hence her yellow and her full name Yang Xiao Long means Little Sun Dragon. Weiss is German for white snow, Nora is a type of pink flower, Blake means black or shadow.
If a fun fact is a spoiler mark it as such. I was looking forward to seeing them guess. Leave off fun facts till after they are no longer spoilers

Since you are doing RWBY, why not watch Yang vs Tifa Lockhart on Deathbattle next Friday? Plus there are two other RWBY characters in Death Battles as well.
They should at least wait until vol 3 before they do that. There's some slight spoilers in Yang's run down.
Never could really get into this show. They are too short.
It's only the first volume that is this short the second volume has 10-12 minute long episodes with some longer ones thrown in and they get progressively longer as the show goes on. Episodes in the later volumes run normal animated show length give or take a few minutes. The shortness in the beginning was strictly a funding and manpower issue. Also all the volumes have been put in a continuous non episodic format on the Rooster Teeth website so you don't have to deal with 5 minute episodes if you watch those.
